UN: SETTLEMENTS ARE WAR CRIMES: A UN conference voted Friday
to establish an International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague to
prosecute war criminals, including those who perpetrate genocide and
torture. The definition of war crimes included settling occupied
territories. One hundred twenty countries at the Rome conference
approved the establishment of the court. Israel was one of seven
countries to oppose the final document. Other countries that opposed
the document included the United States, China and India. Twenty
others abstained. The document states that war crimes can be defined
as "the transfer, directly or indirectly, by the Occupying Power of
parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies,
or the deportation or transfer of all or parts of the population of
the occupied territory within or outside this territory." In its
objection, the Israeli delegation declared that it "fails to
comprehend why it has been considered to insert into the list of the
most heinous and grievous war crimes the action of transferring
population into occupied territory." In a statement over the weekend,
the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem said the provision was inserted
because of pressure from Arab states. (HA'ARETZ/MED)

A STATUS CHANGE FOR THE HOLY PLACES? The Ministerial
Committee on Legislation and Law Enforcement recently discussed a bill
NRP [National Religious Party] Knesset Member Hanan Porat plans to
present, which will substantially change the legal status of the holy
places in Israel and the territories by annulling "the king's word in
his council", legislation dating to the British Mandate which covers
all the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian holy sites in Israel and over
the Green Line. MA'ARIV has learned that the proposal was presented
this week to the ministerial committee attended only by two ministers,
Justice Minister Tzahi Hanegbi and Transportation Minister Sha'ul
Yahalom. Hanegbi opposed Porat's proposed legislation while Yahalom
voted for it. If it is approved, Israeli law will cover the holy
places of all three religions, which will significantly change the
status quo at these sites and the government's ability to apply
special criteria based on security and other sensitive needs. Approval
of the bill will make the holy places "subservient" to Israeli law.

Albright to Netanyahu -- U.S. No Longer Mediating FRD
Jerusalem Israel Television Channel 1 Network in Hebrew 1800 GMT 9
Jul98
Studio discussion between anchor Ge'ula Even and correspondent
     Ehud Ya'ari -- live

[Even] Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has made it clear to
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu last night that the United States
and Israel are no longer negotiating the second further redeployment
[FRD]. Our political correspondent Dan Scemama reports that in what
has been called a tough discussion, Albright demanded that Netanyahu
make a clear-cut decision. Albright also said that based on President
Clinton's decision, the United States will soon report to the public
on the state of the negotiations.
     S. sources said Netanyahu wants an Israeli-Palestinian meeting to
discuss the issues in dispute. Jerusalem confirms that a meeting
between Yitzhaq Mordekhay and Abu-Mazin [Mahmud 'Abbas] is possible.
Good evening, Ehud Ya'ari. The Americans have threatened many times
in the past, how serious is this threat?
[Ya'ari] This time it is different because President Clinton held
White House consultations on 7 July and with his approval the State
Department has been instructed to say to Israel, as you just
announced, that there are no more negotiations. I would define the
current stage as the eve before the moment of truth. The Americans
refuse to hold negotiations. They tell the prime minister that if he
has requests, such as the extradition of terrorists, then he should
discuss it with 'Arafat, if he is interested.
Nabil Sha'th and Sa'ib 'Urayqat are on their way to Washington
without a power of attorney to make any concessions. They can only
listen to what the Americans have to say. The President has refused
to send Dennis Ross for another round of shuttles between Gaza and
Jerusalem, as the prime minister requested. The announcement being
formulated in Washington -- it won't be issued before the end of the
month -- is The United States very much regrets that despite all its
efforts and the goodwill of both sides -- the Israeli and Palestinian
-- it did not manage to achieve an agreement. The analysis and the
conclusions will be left for the public, pundits, and leaks. That is
the situation at this moment.
We have reached the stage that the President has allowed the State
Department for the first time to say the United States is no longer
mediating, although providing a two-week period of grace before
issuing the public announcement.

Moza....

Regarding our previous discussion of whether the cherubim
were arranged in a circle or a square, BKC says this:

1:8b-9. Ezekiel then explained how the four creatures
functioned as a unit. Two of the four wings of each creature
were outstretched so that their wings touched one another,
forming a connecting square. Having four faces on four sides
of their heads and being connected in a square, they were
able to travel straight in any direction and to change direction
without turning. Thus they did not turn as they moved.

1:11. Ezekiel then described the cherubim's wings. Two of the
four wings on each cherub were spread out upward, or
extended out above the cherub and were touching a wing of a
cherub on either side. The effect was to form a large "box"
with a cherub at each corner. The other two wings on each
cherub were for covering its body. Because these creatures
were ministering before God's holy presence, they covered
their bodies in reverence (cf. Isa. 6:1-3).

---

The reason I wondered about the square or circle thing is that I
have been reading about how The Most Holy Place was a
square (or a cube if you measure height). The New Jerusalem
will be laid out in a square or a cube:

(Rev 21:16 KJV) "And the city lieth foursquare, and the length
is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the
reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth
and the height of it are equal."

"Vs. 21:16-17 Shaped foursquare like a cube, the city is 1,380
mi (2,220 km) on each face, including height, with a wall 72 yd
(66 m) thick. It has been calculated that even if only 25
percent of this space were used for dwellings, 20 billion people
could be accommodated spaciously."

It appears that where God dwells is associated with a cube.
The reason the New Jerusalem is a square? Because there
won't be a temple, in other words, God will dwell in all of the
New Jerusalem because He is the temple:

(Rev 21:22 KJV) "And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord
God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it."

---

(Rev 11:1 KJV) "And there was given me a reed like unto a
rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the
temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein."

Using gematria, if we take the numbers that represent the
letters in THE ALTAR we come up with a sum of 1728, which
is 12x12x12. (I have no way to confirm this, perhaps you can?)

Now "measure" the temple of God: From Rev 21: 16 we have
12000x12000x12000 as being the measurement of the New
Jerusalem.

So the altar and the temple are a perfect cube.

Supposedly other objects, places, and people associated with
the Temple also spell out a cube using gematria.

Now, does Ezekiel's cherubim come into account here in any
of this? I dunno. <g> We know that it was the chariot throne
he was witnessing, and cherubim are associated with the
mercy seat, etc. BKC describes their setup as a "box." It
would be interesting to see if gematria works for Ezekiel's
vision huh?

Also, there is something called the Cube of Truth, which uses a
bunch of mathematical jargon and theology that at the moment
is over my head. <g> But I was reading where Salvador Dali's
"Corpus Hypercubus" depicts this cube symbolism that has
Jesus hanging on a "cubed" cross.

You know, it's funny you're speaking about cubes because
I've been reading in "Number in Scripture" by E.W. Bullinger how
the number 3 is the symbol of a cube (I'm trying to type up the
chapter on three to put on the site).

"Two straight lines cannot possibly enclose any space, or form a
plane figure; neither can two plane surfaces form a solid. Three
lines are necessary to form a plane figure; and three dimensions of
length, breadth, and height, are necessary to form a solid. Hence
three is the symbol of the cube--the simplest form of solid figure.
As two is the symbol of the square, or plane contents, so three is
the symbol of the cube, or solid contents."

I was trying, yesterday, to figure out how they were connected (and
the differences between these and the ones in Revelation). Are all
the ox faces facing, say, east--and all the man faces, facing north,
etc. If so, how can we tell which is which? It's got to be somewhere
in the Bible.

I have read some info similar to this somewhere, but will
have to dig to find it (although I don't know if it will add
anything).

I think we could figure this out, but I've never done
it before.

Yes, it would, but I don't think that'll happen anytime soon!!!
unless you decide to take it up :)

Oh I'm sorry. It stands for Bible Knowledge Commentary.

Well along these same lines in a book I've been looking at
("The Pattern and the Prophecy" -- loaded with math stuff!) it
has this little blurb to say about the cube:

"According to the famous astronomer Johannes Kepler, our
world's three dimensions reflect the Holy Trinity's three parts.
The cube is the simpliest and most stable object with three
equal dimensions, like the three coequal parts of the Godhead
itself."

I believe Bullinger thinks along those same lines as well.

I thought about that too! The only thing that comes to mind ...
and I believe you did something on this ... is the bit about the
arrangement of the tribes around the tabernacle, each with
their own standard.

Yes, he does and when I get the chapter on number 3 typed up,
everyone can take a look.

I guess I should've clarified that last thought :) Yea, I did do a
study on that ("Hail, Hale-Bopp"
http://philologos.org/bpr/research.htm") that discussed the position
of the tribes around the tabernacle in the desert (Numbers 2), but I
was trying to figure out why east was a lion and west was an ox (I
had to refresh my memory on exactly where they belonged, but knew I
couldn't figure out the lion and ox). I kinda understand the eagle
being north (up/heaven) and man being south (down/earth) but is there
anything that states why east is a lion and west is an ox? Jesus
sits at the right hand (right/east)? Something like that maybe for
the lion?

I was also thinking that maybe the faces were pointed in
different directions for each beast ('cause there's more than one),
but I have to figure some more on that.

Bye,
Moza

Maybe it has something to do with the orientation of the
stars/constellations? <g>

Speaking of east though, it's interesting in view of this
conversation that the entrance into the garden of Eden was on
the east, since that's where the cherubim were placed. In
other words, there's only one way to the Tree of Life -- through
the east side, the Lion, the Messiah. Cool huh?

Hmmm... I don't think so. Ez 1:10 seems to suggest that the
lion was on the right side of each cherubim, etc. At least that's
how I read it. Perhaps I'm reading it differently though?

Hi!,
Since this is the first mail I have gotten from your group I am kind of
jumping in right in the middle of things!...Your title is Squares and
Cubes, and I am only guessing what you are applying it to.....so this
comment may or may not have relevance. Just some food for thought
though.....a square is the same distance in all directions. A cube is
likewise, however, something we don't often consider is that a sphere is
also the same distance in every direction! One of the definitions of the
word 'wings' in Ezekiel 1:9 is 'quarters'. A good way to picture this is
to picture an orange, it's rind scored into 4 quarters. Isaiah 11:12
speaks of the "four corners of the earth.....and we know that the earth is
not a square or a cube.
Here is part of an interesting article that I found at
http://www.kiwi.net/~mjagee/index.html that concerns Ezekiel's cherubim.

Cherubim and the Flaming Sword

by M.J. Agee

After almost constantly reading man's works about the Bible for seven
years, I still had no answers for certain questions. For instance, I wanted
to know what the cherubim and flaming sword stood for in Genesis 3:24 and
what the cherubim were in Ezekiel's visions. No author had explained them
to my satisfaction. I laid my hands on my open Bible and said, "Lord!
you'll have to show me..."

Not knowing how he would show me, I started looking up all the pertinent
words in Hebrew in both Genesis 3:24 and Ezekiel 1, hoping something would
shed light on the subject. It did. The light that shone was the sunshine,
but that is getting ahead of my story.

What are Cherubim?

In Scripture, we first hear of Cherubim in Genesis 3:24, but we are not
told what they are. After Adam's sin, we read that the Lord,

drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden
Cherubims, (kerubim) and a flaming sword (chereb, destroying weapon) which
turned every way, to keep the way of (to, as in the NASB) the tree of life.

Where is "east of the garden?" From Genesis 2:14, we find that the Garden
of Eden was in the vicinity of the Euphrates River. Halley's Bible Handbook
quotes an interesting ancient Babylonian inscription that shows that the
garden was near Eridu, twelve miles south of Ur, where Abraham came from.
The inscription said,

Near Eridu was a garden, in which was a mysterious Sacred Tree, a Tree of
Life, planted by the gods, whose roots were deep, while its branches
reached to heaven, protected by guardian spirits, and no man enters.

In Revelation 22:2, we find that the tree of life truly did reach Heaven.
It is now in Heaven. It may come as a surprise, but east of the Garden of
Eden can be anywhere between Earth and Heaven, which rises in our eastern
sky.

Are Cherubim Guardian Spirits?

The Babylonian inscription mentioned "guardian spirits." Are Cherubim
guardian spirits? The answer is complex. The Cherubim do guard. That much I
can tell you now. They guard the path to Heaven to make sure nothing enters
Heaven that would defile it. As to whether they are spirits or not must
wait until we find the scriptural clues that show us exactly what they are.

Ezekiel Saw the Cherubim

The very fact that Ezekiel saw the Cherubim in his visions in chapters 1
and 10 suggest that they are something concrete rather than spirit. He saw
them. Usually spirits are not seen for they are like the wind. Webster's
definition of concrete is revealing. He said it is "a mass formed by
concretion or coalescence of separate particles of matter in one body."

Ezekiel's first vision is where the sunlight gave me my first inkling of
what the Cherubim really are. The "heavens were opened" to Ezekiel in his
visions. I should have paid more attention to that clue before, but I
didn't. Ezekiel looked up at the sky. The Cherubim were in the heavens. He
saw a whirlwind that fanned out to form a great doughnut shape. Within it's
boundaries, he saw four flying heavenly bodies. In the middle was the
radiant sun, "a fire infolding itself, and a brightness (nogah, sunlight)
was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber."

This time, it really paid off to look up the word "brightness" in Hebrew.
If the fire infolding itself had sunlight about it, it was our Sun. The
passage suddenly took on a whole new meaning. These things really are in
the sky.

The next clue came quickly. Ezekiel 1:15 said that one wheel was "upon the
earth." Wow! now what kind of a wheel does Earth have? The next verse says
that the appearance of the wheels was "as it were a wheel in the middle of
a wheel." How does Earth's wheel fit inside other wheels? Oh! I got the
picture. Earth's orbit fits into the concentric orbits of the terrestrial
planets. Around those is a cloud of small pieces of a planet that broke up,
our Asteroid Belt. In order of distance from the sun, we have Mercury,
Venus, Earth and Mars. These planets are the Cherubim Ezekiel saw in his
vision of the heavens.

Their four faces are the four cardinal points of the compass. The same
pictures were on the flags placed at the compass points outside the
Israelite encampment in the wilderness. The extremities or outer borders of
the Cherubim look like disks, "like the sole of a calf's foot: and they
sparkled like the colour of burnished brass" (1:7). They sparkled in the
sunlight.

As for the likeness of the living creatures (lively heavenly bodies that
can fly), their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the
appearance of lamps (1:13).

Is there any doubt in your mind? Don't the planets look like disks, burning
coals of fire, lamps lit at dusk in the approaching darkness of night.

The Lord's throne is above these Cherubim, i.e., farther away from the sun.
Ezekiel 1:26 says,

And above the firmament (expanse of space) that was over their heads was
the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon
the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man
(Christ) above upon it.

This stone also had "as it were the appearance of fire" (1:27).

When Ezekiel realized what he had seen, he said, "And when I saw it, I fell
upon my face." Don't you feel like that too? Ezekiel had seen Heaven. He
had seen the Lord's throne upon it. What an awesome sight. I certainly was
thrilled when I first saw Heaven floating like a pearl of great price up
there in space.

In chapter 10, Ezekiel saw the throne and Cherubim again. He said,

THEN I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the
cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, and the
appearance of the likeness of a throne....And their (the Cherubim's) whole
body (i.e., heavenly body), and their backs, and their hands (extremeties,
i.e., outer edges, borders), and their wings (symbolic of flight), and the
wheels (orbits), were full of eyes (full orbs, i.e., circular) round about,
even the wheels that they four had (10:1,12).

Once you get the picture, you can see beyond the symbolism and the awkward
translation to imagine the real things Ezekiel saw moving around the sun
like lamps in the heavens.

What is the Flaming Sword?

Just as the Cherubim of Genesis 3:24 are in the heavens, the flaming sword
is also in the heavens. Ezekiel saw it. In Ezekiel 1:13, he said that "it
went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and
out of the fire went forth lightning." This is a "chereb," a destroying
weapon. It is piece of the planet that split apart. The explosion threw
some shards into cometary Earth-crossing orbits--NEA's. Thus Ezekiel saw
the flaming sword, also called the Sword of the Lord, going "up and down"
among the terrestrial planets. In Isaiah 34:1-8, the Lord said,

COME near, ye nations, to hear: and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear,
and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
For the indignation of the lord is upon all nations, and his fury upon all
their armies (they will attack Israel that day): he hath utterly destroyed
them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter...the heavens shall be rolled
together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf
falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. For my
sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon the people
of my curse, to judgment. The Sword of the Lord is filled with blood...the
LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of
Idumea....For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of
recompences for the controversy of Zion. And the streams thereof shall be
turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land
thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night nor day;
the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it
shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

In his second vision, Ezekiel also saw that coals of fire would be taken
"from between the cherubims" and scattered over Jerusalem (Ezekiel
10:2,6,7). This has to do with the main events on the Day of God's Wrath.

The flaming sword was associated in the first book of the Bible with Eden,
near the Euphrates River. In the last book of the Bible, we see Babylon,
also near the Euphrates, destroyed in that same area of the world. And how
is she destroyed? "there fell a great star (aster) from heaven, burning as
it were a lamp" (Rev. 8:10). This "aster" is the flaming sword of Genesis
3:24. It is the destroying weapon out of the Lord's armoury.

The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons
(plural) of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts
in the land of the Chaldeans...destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be
left....their day is come, the time of their visitation. The voice of them
that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the
vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple (Jeremiah
50:25-28).

The flaming sword is likely to be a binary asteroid that breaks apart for
"a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea" (Rev. 8:8). This
rock hits the Mediterranean Sea. It turns Ashkelon and Gaza into future
fields for flocks and spews those coals of fire that Ezekiel saw taken from
between the cherubims over the city of Jerusalem.

Howdy! Happy to have you jump in anytime. I'm going to pass you
a few previous messages concerning our Squares and Cubes
conversation so you can "catch up." However, me thinks you
caught on nicely. <g> Basically I was wondering about how the
cherubim were arranged -- circle or square or something similar. I
was reading a bit from a commentary that said they were arranged
to form a "box." Well... one thought leads to another. You know
how that goes. <g>

Mordekhay, 'Abbas To Meet; Israel Compromise on Charter
             Tel Aviv Yedi'ot Aharonot in Hebrew 14 Jul 98 p 9
Report by political correspondent Shim'on Schiffer and Orli
     Azulay-
Katz in Washington
Defense Minister Yitzhaq Mordekhay and 'Arafat's deputy Abu-Mazin
[Mahmud 'Abbas] might meet soon after 'Arafat returns from China later
this week. This follows Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's
announcement yesterday that the two sides are willing to meet.
The likelihood of such a meeting was confirmed yesterday by
Palestinian and Israeli sources following the State Department
spokesman's announcement that Israel and the Palestinian Authority had
agreed to enter into direct negotiations with the aim of bridging the
gaps between them.
In the meeting he held with Public Security Minister Avigdor
Qahalani last week, Abu-Mazin refused to agree to influence 'Arafat to

meet with Netanyahu. The meeting between Qahalani and Abu-Mazin took
place during a private event in Herzliyya on 11 July which was also
attended by Egyptian Ambassador Muhammad Basyuni. Qahalani told Abu-
Mazin that he his impression is that Netanyahu is ready to carry out
the second further redeployment [FRD]. Abu-Mazin replied, "Netanyahu
is a prisoner of the right-wing extremists and is not interested in
carrying out the FRD." [passage omitted]
[Tel Aviv Ma'ariv in Hebrew on 14 July in a page 6 report by Ben
Kaspit, Golan Yosefon and Yitzhaq Ben-Horin in Washington adds,
"Israel is prepared to temporarily forgo its demand to convene the
Palestine National Council [PNC] to amend the Palestinian Charter,
Ma'ariv learned yesterday.
["Under the compromise proposal presented by Defense Minister
Yitzhaq Mordekhay to Yasir 'Arafat last week, Israel would be prepared
to accept an interim arrangement whereby the amendment would be
ratified by the PLO's Executive Committee now, while the PNC would
convene at a much later stage as part of the negotiations on the
permanent status. In the meantime, 'Arafat would be able to regain his
clout over the PNC."]

Global Intelligence Update
Red Alert
July 21, 1998

U.S. Contemplates Training Chinese Special Forces

In response to a question at the routine U.S. Department of Defense news
briefing on Thursday, July 16, Defense Department spokesman Kenneth Bacon
confirmed that the U.S. may consider joint Special Forces training with
China. Bacon was asked to "comment on comments today by the commander of
the U.S. Special Forces Command that some future joint training with China
would be desirable... Is the Defense Department involved in promoting any
such future linkup?" Bacon responded, "In a broad sense, we're looking at
future military exchanges with China. I'm not aware of any specific look
right now at Special Forces operations, but that certainly would be a type
of military exchange we would consider. We have agreed since 1996,
December of ‘96, to explore new ways of improving cooperation between the
United States and China; new ways of getting our militaries to work
together more smoothly in training or other types of missions, and we will
continue."

The questioner was referring to comments made by U.S. Special Forces
Command chief General Peter Schoomaker. Schoomaker had told reporters that
he thought joint training with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) was
"desirable." Said the general, "You need to engage so you develop rapport
and understanding and have another method of dialogue. What we would
encourage is low-level contact at the small-unit level that allows us to...
develop trust and confidence that then brings in higher level people."
Schoomaker said that Admiral Joseph Prueher, head of the U.S. Pacific
Command, had been discussing the idea.

During President Clinton's recent visit to China, the two countries reached
a reciprocal agreement in which officers from each country would observe
certain military exercises of the other. China has reportedly already sent
observers to the six-nation Rim Pac exercises off Hawaii, and is scheduled
to send observers to the five-nation Cope Thunder exercises in Alaska later
in July. In a more active relationship, the U.S. Air Force and Coast Guard
will participate with PLA and Hong Kong authorities in search-and-rescue
exercises in December.

The idea that the Clinton Administration could be considering an
arrangement in which the U.S. Special Forces would train the PLA is
staggering. The Administration has faced intense criticism of its China
policy, from its decision to extend China's Most-Favored Nation trade
status to Clinton's visit to Beijing. Considering the PLA's abysmal and
very public record in Tibet, Xinjiang, and Tiananmen Square, the
Administration's consideration of a plan to train the PLA in unconventional
warfare shows questionable political judgement at best. The move could
almost be seen as a direct slap in the face to those who would question the
Administration's China policy.

There can be little justification for the exchange from a military
standpoint either. The Chinese do not need U.S. training in unconventional
warfare techniques. We learned from them. Perhaps the proposal is a cover
for a technology transfer. It could also reflect a U.S. hope that the
situation would offer an intelligence-gathering opportunity. But China is
not so clumsy as to allow any information gathered through the joint
operations to be worth the bad public relations the U.S. can expect.

The message this proposal sends to Taiwan, Japan, and China's other
neighbors can only cause them concern, but perhaps the message is aimed at
China itself. The only rational justification we can find for U.S. Special
Forces training of the PLA is as part of an attempt to maintain good
relations with Beijing. Perhaps the Administration hopes that, through
exchanges such as this, the U.S. can forestall the emergence of a wholly
anti-American sentiment in Beijing and the emergence of an anti-American
regional hegemon. Considering the state of China's economy, and our
determination that it is destined for economic and social collapse, we
believe that this is a vain hope. In its efforts to hold itself together
in the face of economic calamity, China will need a scapegoat, and the
prime candidate for that role is the U.S.

FALSE PROPHET AND ANTI-CHRIST

MALACHI MARTIN CONFIRMS THIRD SECRET OF FATIMA
Stan Deyo's e-mail 7/16/98

For Art Bell listeners, Stan called into the program 2 nights ago to
discuss some of the startling things we are hearing/reading about El
Nino. . . After Stan finished, Malachi Martin was interviewed for the
remainder of the show. One interesting thing that occurred during the
Malachi Martin interview was the discussion of the "Third Secret of
Fatima."

While Malachi Martin himself would not reveal what was
specifically in the secret, he did state he would confirm if
someone called in with correct information. This would not
violate his confidentiality vow. Several people did send in
documents claiming to be THE secret. Several had elements of
truth in them, some did not.

Hours into the show, Stan faxed the following message through
during the interview: "Art - I had a Jesuit priest tell me more
of the 3rd Fatima secret years ago in Perth... Re: last pope
would be under control of Satan. Pope John fainted thinking it
might be him. We were interrupted before I could hear the rest.
Stan."

Stan's conversation with the Jesuit priest transpired 24 years
ago and he never forgot the horror of the content. Actually,
what was told to Stan was even worse than what was faxed to Art,
but the important thing to know is that Malachi Martin CONFIRMED
it.

1. TEN MKs THREATEN TO TOPPLE GOV'T
Ten Knesset Members of the Knesset Land of Israel front have again
warned Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that they will act to topple
his government if it carries out another withdrawal from Judea and
Samaria. The ten coalition MKs sponsored a large ad in today's papers,
in which they note that the Palestinians have not fulfilled even one
of their Oslo-agreement obligations. The ad was signed by MKs Elon,
Begin, Ze'evi, Hendel, Shaki, Porat, Peled, Kleiner, Slomiansky, and
Chaim Dayan.

Yosef Gutnik, the Australian philanthropist who sponsored the
"Netanyahu is Good for the Jews" campaign during the elections two
years ago, sent a strong letter to the Prime Minister this week.
Gutnik demands that Netanyahu not withdraw from "even 1%." The Kfar
Chabad newspaper reports that Gutnik also spoke to Netanyahu by phone,
and called upon him to "stand strongly, with belief in the Creator,
against all the pressures to withdraw."

2. "HETER ISKA" IS BINDING
A court in the northern city of Safed has accepted the legal validity
of the "heter iska," a Halakhic formulation of a loan such that the
prohibition against paying interest is not transgressed. The
agreement is well-known in all Israeli banks, most of which even have
an announcement posted on a wall saying that all dealings are carried
out in accordance with a "heter iska." In a precedent-setting ruling,
the agreement was recognized by the court as formally binding. The
case at issue involved a religiously-observant owner of a toy store;
he claimed that because he did not make any profit with the money that
he received as a loan, and because the "heter iska" defines the lender
and borrower as partners, he need not return the loan. The judge, a
Druze named Yosif Ismail, displaying a keen grasp of Halakhah,
accepted the claim, and said, "The Torah of Israel forbids any form of
interest. The prohibition is so far-ranging that not only the lender
and the borrower are liable, but also the guarantors - all are in
violation of a negative commandment if interest is paid on the loan."
The lawyer representing the bank said that he plans to appeal, as such
a ruling could have a catastrophic effect on many banks in Israel.

3. RABBIS ASK FOR NINE-DAYS DELAY
Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef and the Grand Rabbi (Admor) of Vizhnitz sent a
telegram to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu this morning, asking him
not to conclude any diplomatic agreements during the nine days before
the fast day of Tisha B'Av (August 2). The rabbis wrote that this is
not political intervention, but rather a Halakhic ruling, as these
nine days commemorate various calamitous times of Jewish history, most
notably the destruction of the two Holy Temples.

The negotiations between the Israeli and Palestinian Authority
committees will continue today, including a possible meeting between
Defense Minister Yitzchak Mordechai and Abu Mazen. It has so far been
agreed that the Palestinian charter calling for Israel's destruction
will not have to be changed immediately, but only after the withdrawal
begins. Minister of Justice Tzachi Hanegbi, visiting today in the
Binyamin communities of Psagot and Beit El, said that Israel still
insists on the extradition of wanted Palestinian terrorists.

                 Palestinians give 24-hour deadline

By JAY BUSHINSKY and STEVE RODAN

JERUSALEM (July 22) - Palestinian Authority Chairman
Yasser Arafat's adviser Nabil Abu Rudeineh warned
yesterday the peace talks would break up unless
Israel endorses US proposals for a 13.1 percent
                 withdrawal.

"The next 24 hours, we expect, will be the last of
the talks," Abu Rudeineh said. "The US request was to
meet with the Israelis and hear their ideas. We met
with them several times and nothing has happened."

Other Palestinian leaders said yesterday that this
week's talks with Israel on the West Bank
redeployment have yielded no progress, but they
differed over whether the impasse portends a collapse
                 of the negotiations.

"No breakthrough or anything new has happened," said
Palestinian security chief Mohammed Dahlan, a key
negotiator. "The Israelis presented incomplete ideas.
We're still in the listening stage to their ideas and
                 then we will evaluate them."

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu appeared to concede
last night that the negotiations have not yielded
                 results.

"There are substantial deliberations by both sides
going on in the negotiations, but I cannot say there
is a result at this moment," Netanyahu told Channel
                 1.

The apparent deadlock coincided with Arafat's return
from Egypt, where his host, President Hosni Mubarak,
advised against accepting Israel's terms for the
                 pullback in the West Bank.

These were said to include Israel's ideas for the
deletion of anti-Israel clauses in the Palestinian
Covenant. The PA says that required changes to the
                 document have already been made.

Arafat and Mubarak also oppose Israel's reported
proposal that the 3 percent of West Bank terrain to
be known as Area D should be defined and treated as a
                 nature reserve.

"Unfortunately, we cannot report any progress from
all of the meetings that have been held," Arafat said
on return to the Gaza Strip, where he later met with
                 senior Palestinian officials.

Hassan Asfour, head of the PA's negotiating
department, said that the Palestinian team had
rejected the nature reserve idea during the talks and
would dismiss any other plans to amend a US plan
calling for an IDF pullback from 13.1 percent of the
                 West Bank.

"We are not here to negotiate with the Israelis," he
said. "We are here to hear from them a 'yes' to the
                 American initiative."

Israel had reportedly offered in exchange that it
would agree to the Palestinians changing the Covenant
in a forum smaller than their parliament-in-exile,
                 the Palestine National Council.

Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai telephoned Mubarak
yesterday afternoon, reportedly to update him on his
                 talks Sunday with Abbas.

Mordechai stressed that the government is determined
to reach an agreement on the second redeployment,
Itim reported. But he also asked Mubarak to persuade
Arafat to make a deal, the report said. Mordechai's
spokesman, Avi Benayahu, would only confirm that
Mordechai telephoned Mubarak, but declined to give
                 details of their conversation.

It was the first time Mordechai spoke with Mubarak
since the defense minister went to Cairo on June 2
and returned saying that the redeployment could no
                 longer be delayed.

PA officials said they are coordinating their steps
with both the US and Egypt. They said that after each
meeting they brief both the State Department in
Washington and Mubarak on the Israeli proposals.

PA sources said that Arafat feels he has enough
international backing to resist any Israeli appeals
to amend the US proposals to implement the Oslo
                 interim accords.

The sources said the US is not urging the PA to
accept the Israeli ideas, but rather to sit with
                 Israeli negotiators.

The sources said that Arafat and his advisers believe
that Netanyahu is simply staging talks this week to
avoid a Knesset no-confidence vote during the last
                 days of the summer session.

Here are today's headlines from WorldNetDaily
(http://www.worldnetdaily.com). This is a great news site. If
you've never visited before, try it out for a week and see what
you think. WorldNetDaily were the ones that broke the story
about CNN's sloppy reporting on the Tailwind story. They were
also the first ones that I saw address the National I.D. card
issue.

Read especially the first story about the "Russian plot to end
nighttime." Very interesting.

The commentary on the net sex hoax is very enlightening as
well.

WorldNetDaily appears to focus on stories that I think
Christians (especially prophecy buffs) would find interesting.
As to WND's religious or Christian beliefs, I have no idea, but I
truly believe you will find the site well worth your time.

Russians launch new moon to help them see the light
By Robert Uhlig, Technology Correspondent

RUSSIAN scientists are planning to put what will appear to be
a second moon, 10 times as bright as a full Moon, into the
night sky above London and other cities in November as part
of a scheme to end night-time.

The orbiting space mirror will pass across the night sky quickly,
up to 16 times in 24 hours, but will last only one night - Nov 9 -
before burning up in the atmosphere. The reflecting
spacecraft, Znamya 2.5, is part of a Russian-led consortium's
plan which bears some similarities to the plot of the Bond film
Diamonds are Forever.

The Space Regatta Consortium, a group of companies led by
Energia of Korolev, near Moscow, wants to launch a
constellation of several hundred mirrors, each up to 100 times
brighter than the full Moon, to cast sunlight from the far side of
the globe into the darkest corners of Siberia during the Arctic
winter and make city street lights obsolete.

But the proposal has alarmed environmentalists and
astronomers. Daniel Green, of the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre
for Astrophysics, said: "I cringe to think that we could lose the
night sky because of all these companies with brain-dead
ideas."

David Thomas, of Bangor University, told BBC Wildlife that
almost any ecosystem "would get completely screwed up" and
that the permanent daylight could cause more Arctic ice to
melt. He said plants and animals depended on darkness. He
said: "Everything - sex, movement, feeding - is triggered by day
length."

Provided that there is little cloud on the night, London,
Brussels, Frankfurt, Kiev, Seattle and Quebec are among the
cities that will be lit up by what will appear to be a disc
between five and 10 times as bright as a full Moon. Some
estimates say it could appear to be up to half the size of the
Moon. The previous experiment with Znamya 1, a 60 ft wide
space mirror, was hampered by cloud. At best, it was only half
as bright as the Moon since the reflector did not form a full
disc.

"COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS ISSUES ULTIMATUM
TO ISRAEL"
by Barry Chamish

BET SHEMESH, ISRAEL, July 21, 1998, Root & Branch: The
Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is out of the closet!
Remember the date, July 17, 1998 and the place, the Op-Ed
page of the Jerusalem Post. On that date in that publication,
Henry Siegman, who according to the Post is "a senior fellow
at the Council On Foreign Relations in New York," threatened
Israel with extinction if it does not obey American (read CFR)
wishes and dictates.

Mr. Siegman's Op-Ed essay begins with the thesis that Prime
Minister Netanyahu's offer of a 13.1% withdrawal from territory
in return for the PLO living up to its signed commitments is a
"tactic Netanyahu has resorted to repeatedly to camouflage
his own government's violations of reciprocity..."

In other words, the fact that the PLO has not changed its
charter by eliminating clauses calling for Israel's violent
destruction, nor extradited murderers of Israelis, but has added
40,000 more "policemen" than permitted, etc., should be
ignored, or best of all, forgiven because Israel is violating the
accords by not giving in until the PLO lives up to its bargain.
Let's skip the rest of Mr. Siegman's stupid essay and go
straight to what the CFR - speaking through Mr. Siegman -
threatens to do to Israel unless the Israelis do what they are
told.

If Israel does not do what it is told, the Apocalypse will come in
May 1999, when the dealine for implentation of the Oslo
Accord is reached. What will follow is "a sudden downward
spiral that will return the region to the conflict and violence that
characterized it for nearly half a century."

Who will be to blame for this? Netanyahu, of course!

Quoting Haaretz, Mr. Siegman warns that the situation is similar
to the days prior to the CFR-ignited Yom Kippur War (I have
written extensively on Henry Kissinger, the CFR, and the Yom
Kippur War), which was "a disaster brought on by a diplomatic
freeze, boastful self-confidence, contempt for the Arab
adversary and a nation which followed its leaders into
destructive apathy." This time, the war to be launched against
Israel will be much uglier, "given the imminent proliferation of
missiles and weapons of mass destruction." Once Israel is
turned to rubble, "Israelis will have no one to blame but
themselves."

There is a way out, says Siegman. Israel is a democracy and
the "Knesset can oust the prime minister."

In the final paragraph we find the CFR's threat if Prime Minister
Netanyahu is not removed from his office:

"They have not done so, and will therefore have few claims on
others in dealing with the failure's consequences. You cannot
repudiate US diplomatc efforts in the name of Israeli
democracy, and then demand that the US intervene in the
conflict triggered by that repudiation in order to save the Middle
East's 'only democracy.'"

There you have it, folks. From the pen of Henry Siegman, the
head of the notorious CFR Task Force of July 1997, which
demanded Israel's withdrawal to its 1948 borders everywhere,
including in Jerusalem. If Israel does not tow the line, we
should prepare for the end and not expect the U.S. to bail us
out.

I have previously speculated that since Netanyahu was
groomed for power by the CFR, he was in their pockets. After
Seigman's tirade against Netanyahu in the Jerusalem Post on
July 17, 1998, I now acknowledge that Netanyahu is in the
midst of a deadly struggle with his former bosses.

Netanyahu will need all the support we can muster to insure his
victory against the evil that the CFR represents.

Jerusalem Post - Internet Edition

                 Palestinians get 'embassy' in Britain

By JAY BUSHINSKY and DOUGLAS DAVIS

JERUSALEM (July 23) - The British government raised
the diplomatic rank of the Palestinian mission to the
Court of St. James to that of "Palestinian General
Delegation," thereby affording it virtually the same
status enjoyed by a bona fide embassy, an official
                 said yesterday.

Deputy Foreign Minister Derek Fatchett was described
as the driving force behind this move, which took
                 Israeli diplomats by surprise.

A European diplomatic source attributed Fatchett's
initiative to a desire to be "in line with the
European Union's approach" to the Palestine
                 Liberation Organization's representatives.

"It's not really such a big deal," he said.

The Foreign Ministry said yesterday that it is
concerned about the upgrade and instructed the
Israeli Embassy in London to ascertain all the
                 pertinent details.

                 Meanwhile, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu
yesterday launched a vigorous attack on the European
Union over its threats to exclude Israeli goods made
across the Green Line from the 1995 economic accord
                 between the EU and Israel.

In an interview with London's Daily Telegraph,
Netanyahu said it would be unwise for France to
attempt to drag the EU into an anti-Israel crusade.

He said that Israel's gross domestic product is fast
approaching 40 percent of the combined GDP of the 22
Arab states, and within 15 years it would be
                 equivalent to 80%.

"Israel's economy will be almost equal to the
economic potential of the entire Arab world," he
said. "I think people, including Europe, need to
reevaluate its assessments of where its interests
                 lie."

Sanctions against Israel, he continued, would not
work, "not just because we have a robust economy.
It's also because of the sheer injustice and blatant
unfairness of a democratic country that is being
pressed by other democratic countries to do something
                 that endangers its security."

Netanyahu said he did not think that Washington,
impatient with Israel over the peace process, might
"wink" at the specter of the EU flexing its muscles
                 in this way.

"You can't wink in the international community
without everyone knowing," he said. "I don't think
America is about to send such a message, winking or
                 otherwise."

On the question of whether violence might follow
further redeployments, he said that "if the
withdrawals are irresponsible and bring us more or
less the indefensible 1967 boundaries, the answer is
                 an unqualified yes."

SCIENTISTS CONFIRM GENETIC LINK AMONG COHANIM
Israeli and British scientists have found that Cohanim,
descendants of Moses' brother Aaron, share a genetic marker,
demonstrating that they are part of an unbroken father-to-son line as
the Jewish tradition maintains, the scientific journal Nature
reported.

Looking at the Y chromosome of 306 Jewish men from
Israel, Canada, and Britain, including 106 self-identified
Cohanim, the scientists found the Cohanim hadthe same or very similar
versions of the Y chromosome.

By studying the length of time it takes for variants to develop,
the scientists estimated that the inheritance of Cohen status has
gone on for more than 700 years, and perhaps more than 3,000 years,
when Aaron began the priestly dynasty.

The Y chromosome is ideal for this study, as it is passed
from father to son, as is Cohen status.

Many Cohanim have surnames such as Cohen, Kahn, and Katz, although
not all can be identified by surname.

The same scientists also tried to determine if self-identified
Levites shared a genetic marker, but were unable to find one. Levite
status is also passed from father to son. (Hotline, July 17, 1998)

"SENSATIONAL" ARCHAEOLOGICAL FIND AT CITY OF DAVID

New archaeological findings near Gihon Spring, ancient Jerusalem's
water source, show the sophisticated water system heretofore
attributed to the conquering Israelites predated them by eight
centuries.

Excavations have exposed a tunnel that skirted Warren's Shaft and
brought residents of the city directly down to a pool near the spring,
which was defended from attack by heavy walls and towers. Contrary to
previous belief, the spring itself was heavily fortified and not
outside the city's defenses. Ceramics found in the current
investigations tie the complex water system firmly to the Canaanites,
800 years before David's conquest about 1,000 BCE.

It is now thought Warren's Shaft, long held to be an access
channel to the ancient spring, was only a natural fissure in the rock
that had nothing to do with the water system.

Excavations on the lower eastern slope also uncovered a fortified
wall from the Middle Bronze Period believed to have been outside the
city's defenses. This would mean that the Canaanite city David
conquered was almost twice as large as heretofore believed. (The
Jerusalem Post, July 23, 1998)

JERUSALEM SYNDROME ARRIVES

Jerusalem is preparing for the "Jerusalem Syndrome." Pilgrim
groups are expected to come to Jerusalem to wait for the apocalypse
and the return of Jesus in the year two thousand.

Many have already bought one-way tickets to Israel. Some have
already moved, locating themselves on or around the Mount of Olives.

Two Jews were allowed to pray on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem
recently. It is the first time in years that a Jew has prayed on
the site of the ancient Jewish temple, where a Muslim mosque now
stands, Christian News said. Shlomo Naiman and Yitzhak Aimes
prayed at the site July 12, a Jewish fast day. They are members
of Hai Vekayam, a movement that is calling for the right of Jews
to pray at the Muslim-controlled site. They were allowed into the
area by a sympathetic policeman, although government policy
forbids Jews from praying on the Temple Mount, Ha'aretz, a Tel
Aviv newspaper, said. Israel's parliament is considering a bill
removing restrictions on Jews who wish to pray on the site.

Divisions in the Republican Party have stalled religious-persecution
legislation. The U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee July 23 put
off indefinitely legislation that would have required the government
to punish foreign countries that permit or endorse persecution. The
delay means that no legislation is likely to be passed this year.
..The issue pits conservative groups such as the Christian
Coalition, who say the party's main focus should be on morality,
against Republicans who want the party to concentrate on trade,
taxes, and prosperity. The Clinton administration opposes the
legislation. It was removed from the committee's docket because at
least three of the panel's 10 Republicans planned to join the eight
Democrats in voting to reject it, The New York Times reported.

A Muslim council is proposing stiff penalties for apostates. The
Malaysian Islamic Development Department is drawing up the Faith
Reform Bill, which calls for up to three years in prison or a large
fine for those who leave Islam, the Singapore Straits Times said. The
bill gives religious police power to investigate apostasy and to
bring individuals before the Syariah High Court to repent. Those who
refuse to do so can be detained for 30 days. The bill is scheduled to
be presented soon to Parliament. About 500 Muslims converted to
another faith from 1994 to 1997 in Malaysia. About 11,000 people
became Muslims during that time.

The Vatican is tightening its control over church doctrine. The new
rules are intended to make sure that future statements are in line
with church teaching. ...New rules require that bishops' conferences
unanimously agree on statements concerning church doctrine before
issuing them. If a unanimous agreement can't be reached, the document
must be submitted to the Vatican for approval, "which it will not
give if the majority requesting it is not substantial," Pope John
Paul II said. The Vatican has taken issue with statements made by
several bishops' conferences, including one by the U.S. Bishop's
Conference calling on parents of gays and lesbians to support their
children despite church teaching against homosexuality. The Holy See
expressed disapproval of a statement by German bishops that said
divorced and remarried people should be allowed to take Communion,
and another by New Zealand bishops that referred to the pope as
"first among equals" in leadership of the church.
