Anglican Church demanding AIDS certificates for
marriages

Copyright 1998 by Agence France-Presse

NAIROBI, Dec 6 (AFP) - The Anglican Church in Kenya will marry couples
only if they both produce a doctor's certificate to prove they are
free of HIV and AIDS, the Sunday Nation newspaper reported.

It quoted Simon Onyango, the vicar of Homa Bay diocese in western
Kenya, as saying the church was making the certificates obligatory for
all marriages.

"The Church cannot be party to the propagation of AIDS (Acquired
Immune Deficiency Syndrome) by presiding over short-lived marriages
only to be called upon to perform burial rites when the couples die
after merely three years in marriage," Onyango said.

Officially 80,000 people have died of AIDS in Kenya, but the national
AIDS programme puts the figure at closer to 230,000.

According to official figures 1.4 million people carry the Human
Immuno-deficiency Virus, the precursor to AIDS, out of a total
population of 30 million.

Hello

I do not understand why there has to be so much time "crammed" into
creation.
Espesially when as imnple look at the scriptures itself will tell us
exactly how much time it took for the creation of this world to take
place. Personally I can fit a lot of time in between verses 2 and 3
Genisis. This would be plenty of time for the universes expansion. It is
unaccounted for and is also pretty irrelevant.

Consider this please.

Things don't start hopping till the first day. The Lord says: Light Be! I
sure do like that literal translation. We now have light and darkness.

Day two;Gos put a seperation between the Heavens and the earth

Day three; this is where the fun starts; v9, put a seperation between the
earth and the seas. v10 called the "dry" land earth.
v11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth tender sprouts ( the herb
seeding seed and the fruit tree producing fruit after its kind, whose seed
is in itself) upon the earth; and it was so. Made all the plants. These
are not just beginning plants, but they are mature plants, bearing seed.
And the fruit trees already have fruit hanging from the limbs.

Day four; created the stars, for signs seasons and years. v16 created:two
great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the smaller light to
rule the night, and the stars
also. This is the sun and the moon. Now here is where someone has to
answer me a question. How do plants last for thousands of years needing
sunlight????
They don't last thousands of years, plants will start turnung yellow after
a very short time with out sunlight. Sunlight is what drives the plants
engines so that it may take in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Without
it, they will die.

Now for something I have supposed all by myself. Take this part with a
large grain of salt please. *G* I have always supposed that when God
created the stars, He made them with the light from them reaching the
earth already. Similar to how He created already budding and producing
plants.

But all Yall have fun in Jesus today,
Be Blessed,

Alan

Israel charges that the level of incitement in the Palestinian media
and the education system is sowing the seeds of the next conflict

If you look for it, you'll have no problem finding it -- by the
suitcase-full. It lurks daily in the pages of the Palestinian
newspapers, on the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation radio and TV,
in the textbooks currently being studied in the Palestinian Authority
schools.

Anti-Israeli incitement is what occupies Itamar Marcus, director of
Palestinian Me-dia Watch, a privately funded Jerusalem-based
monitoring organization. But he hesitates to use the "i" word. Rather,
he says, the problem lies in the whole atmosphere -- the totality of
messages coming at the Palestinian public from all angles, creating an
all-pervasive, war-like environment in which the idea of peaceful
coexistence is entirely absent and in which Israel is either vilified,
or not recognized at all.

The more outrageous cases periodically burst into the Israeli
headlines. Like Yasser Arafat's now-infamous Ramallah speech of
November 15 in which he declared "our guns are raised. And we will aim
them at anyone who prevents us from going to Jerusalem." Or the scenes
broadcast on PBC TV from last summer's Palestinian Authority
military-style children's camps, in which the cute-looking boys and
girls chanted, recited poems and sang in praise of armed revolution,
jihad and martyrdom.

Then there was the November 7 opinion piece penned by guest
columnist Nasser Ahmad and published in Al-Hayat al-Jadeedah, the
semi-official PA daily, asserting: "Corruption is in the nature of the
Jews all over the world, to the point that only rarely do you find
corruption that the Jews are not behind... If we take a look at
history, we discover to what extent the Jews were exposed to
oppression and expulsion worldwide because of their ugly deeds and
their wickedness." Or the fact that every news broadcast on PBC TV
starts off, and ends, with "the map": the whole area of Israel, the
West Bank and Gaza Strip, with no borders and no names.

And no sensitivities were spared when PBC recently produced a short
film commemorating the anniversary of a problematic Israeli
retaliatory attack in October 1953 on the West Bank village of
Qibiyah, in which the IDF destroyed scores of houses, killing over 40
civilians in the process. The five or six minute-long film clip
included black-and-white images of eyeless and limbless children,
taken from the Intifada and possibly elsewhere, as well as staged
scenes of "Israeli soldiers" lining up and shooting groups of men and
women against a wall, all set to an emotional narrative and plaintive
background flute. Says Marcus: "Its purpose was only one -- a definite
desire to create hatred. You can't watch that kind of stuff and not
hate the people behind it."

From first grade up, the textbooks used in PA schools in the West Bank
are suffused with similar messages. The West Bank schools still use
the Jordanian curriculum, as they have done for the past 30 years --
and despite the 1994 peace treaty with Jordan, the material has
remained violently hostile. Gaza uses the Egyptian curriculum, which
is far milder in its treatment of Israel. The Jordanian books are
published in Amman, but are then embossed with the Palestinian
Authority stamp of approval. During the occupation, the Israeli
authorities used to edit out offending parts, redesigning pages and
reprinting whole books to avoid large white gaps, but the PA has
chosen not to.

An exhaustive search of these school texts by Marcus's staff -- he
himself knows no Arabic -- resulted in a report that has left many an
Israeli gasping. Second-graders, for example, are taught a "Poem of
Palestine," including the lines: "For me, the promise of martyrdom and
Palestine is my song/From Jerusalem I shall build my ladder towards
eternity." On page 29 of the "Our Arabic Language" primer for
sixth-graders, pupils are asked to "form logical sentences making use
of the following expressions: Wise opinion the Zionist danger he
called for a Jihad disaster remaining cool-headed." In a language
primer of the same series, seventh-graders are given the following as
a subject for composition: "How are we going to liberate our stolen
land? Make use of the following ideas: Arab unity, genuine faith in
Allah, most modern weapons and ammunition, the use of oil and other
precious natural resources as weapons in the battle for liberation."
And so on.

The boundaries of what constitutes "our stolen land" are kept vague,
at best. The new PA-approved atlas, in this case privately published
in the West Bank city of Nablus, shows Israel, the West Bank and Gaza
as all one area with no labels. Where the territories are marked
separately, for example in the 10th-grade textbook "Modern Arab
History and Contemporary Problems, Part Two," the color key refers to
"Arab lands occupied before 1967" and "Arab lands occupied in 1967."

"The Palestinians haven't yet internalized the recognition of Israel,"
says Marcus, who moved to Israel from the United States in 1974. He
worked in the Religious Affairs Ministry under the previous Labor-led
government before turning to full-time monitoring after the 1996
elections. "It would be completely valid if they were to put a map on
TV of the whole West Bank and Gaza without a single settlement. But
Israel of 1948 is not in dispute now. They're constantly talking about
Lod, Jaffa, Acre and Haifa in future terms, which creates dangerous
expectations. It's a general world view -- a view that was supposed to
have changed with Oslo. Instead of promoting peace, it's sowing the
seeds of the next conflict."

Israel's delegation went off to the Wye Plantation talks in October
armed with Marcus's reports. It came back with a commitment from the
Palestinians to issue a decree prohibiting all forms of incitement to
violence or terror, comparable to existing Israeli legislation, and to
join Israeli and U.S. representatives on a trilateral committee to
find ways of preventing incitement.

The decree was issued in mid-November. And on the 24th of the
month, the committee held its first meeting.

Marcus was the "professional" on the four-man Israeli team, headed by
former Knesset member Yoash Tsidon of the right-wing Tsomet party. The
Palestinian side was headed by former Arafat spokesman Marwan
Kanafani. U.S. Ambassador Ed Walker stood in for former Congressman
Mel Levine, who was unable to attend the opening session.

The sides came out agreeing to work on a definition of what
constitutes incitement, and to meet again in early December. Now, The
Jerusalem Report has learned, the Pal-estinians are concentrating
their efforts on building up their own files citing examples of
Israeli incitement against the Palestinians. Whether or not they've
fully come to terms with Israel's existence, one thing the
Palestinians have clearly internalized is Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu's policy of reciprocity.

"We have our own claims of Israeli incitement, every day," Hafez
Barguti, chief editor of Al-Hayat al-Jadeedah, told The Report the
morning after the first meeting, having already coordinated positions
with Kanafani. "When [Israeli Foreign Minister Ariel] Sharon tells
settlers to grab any empty land they can, what do you call that if not
a call to violence? It must be mutual, from our side and the Israeli
side. On the Palestinian side, you might find an individual here or
there. But on the Israeli side, it's government ministers who make
these declarations."

Asked about the recent "corruption" article that appeared in his
paper, Barguti said he'd spent several weeks abroad around that time,
and that it was "difficult to control every word in this situation.
Yesterday," he went on, "I gave my editors instructions not to use
this word -- 'corrupt' -- about a whole people. We're going to make
peace with these people."

Barguti added that another recent anti-Semitic item using Shylock
imagery had slipped by while he was preoccupied with his father, who
was in a coma. As for references in Al-Hayat al-Jadeedah to Israel as
the "Zionist entity," he said he wouldn't use such terminology
himself, then asked rhetorically, and somewhat disingenuously, "since
when being a Zionist was an insult? I think the Zionists should be
happy to use this, no?"

At PBC headquarters in Ramallah, the PA's temporary "capital" in the
West Bank, radio and television head Radwan Abu Ayyash sits under a
portrait of Arafat and the national flag. So far, he says, he's
invested three years of very hard work in getting PBC on its feet. And
he insists that while the salaries of the TV and "Voice of Palestine"
radio staff come from the Palestinian Authority, and the PBC is
accountable to Arafat's own office (the general coordinator, Hisham
Mikki, is based in Gaza), there's no real interference from on high.

Abu Ayyash even points to moments of daring. Like the time when the
popular radio program "Good Morning Palestine," which deals with local
issues, was trying in vain to get PA Information Minister Yasser Abd
Rabbo on the phone. With each call, Abd Rabbo's secretary became
ruder, until she was positively cursing. Abu Ayyash instructed
staffers to tape the last call, and broadcast it live. Only Arafat
himself is immune to criticism on PBC stations. "He's a symbol. I
cannot gamble with this," says Abu Ayyash.

When it comes to the subject of incitement, however, the PBC is
definitely up for a fight. Abu Ayyash pulls out copies of Marcus's
reports, on which he's scribbled his own notes, and dismisses
Palestinian Media Watch as "a Beit Agron production," referring to the
Jerusalem press center which houses, among other things, the Israeli
Government Press Office and the military censor. He accuses the
Israelis of "picking and choosing" from the programs and taking things
out of context. "If some sheikh says live on TV that all the Israelis
should be thrown into the sea, what can I do? Cut off his tongue?" he
goes on. "I can't change the hearts, the brains, the language of my
people. I can't make them fall in love by force. We are journalists,
mirrors, reflectors. I'm not here to lie, or make propaganda."

Abu Ayyash says that he's put aside all the songs and poems calling
for Israel's destruction that were daily fare on PLO radio that used
to air out of Algeria. "I try to be fair," he says, "but at the same
time, I cannot surrender my nationality to fit somebody's mood. We
have to build up our national feeling, to chart our origins, like any
other people." Abu Ayyash complains that Israel is ignoring the fact
that "90 percent" of PBC's news broadcasts deal with the peace process
-- even if they attack Netanyahu's political position. Like Barguti,
he argues that calling people "Zionists" is "not a curse."

As for the map, Abu Ayyash claims at first that the idea is merely to
show the Middle East, and focus on this area. "Give me a final-status
map and I'll use it," he declares. Prodded further, Abu Ayyash says
that he would put up a map of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East
Jerusalem, "but to be honest, I still have something to do with Jaffa
and Haifa. I have a Palestinian refugee problem -- I have people
watching from Jaffa whose problem hasn't been solved. That doesn't
mean I want to get into a tank and drive there."

Israel has particularly objected to a number of items that have
repeatedly cropped up on PBC TV. These include short clips showing
Intifada violence interspersed daily between regular programming; a
six-minute recording of the song "Baladi Ana," or "My Country," in
which children depict the trauma of 1948, concluding "It's still my
land, my beautiful land, Palestine"; and a blood- and gorefilled
series called "Al-Khalidun," or "The Eternal Ones," which has run
weekly for the past two years. "Al-Khalidun" features Palestinian
"martyrs" killed by Israel, describing their lives and times, and
keeping their memories alive through interviews with proud family
members.

Abu Ayyash rejects charges that "Al-Khalidun" glorifies martyrdom,
stressing the centrality of the concept in Islam. "The people don't
need me to tell them this," he scoffs. "They get it from the
kindergarten to the grave. It's part of their structure, their life. I
can't just delete it from TV."

Furthermore, he argues, it's important to remind people of how much
pain it's taken to get to this point. "Why didn't Israel forget the
Nazis?" he asks. "Because of Yad Vashem, you had to reach peace.
Because of the Intifada, we have to reach peace. I'm not aiming to
destroy Israel, but we have a right to show its atrocities."

In the wake of Wye, where the subject of incitement was first raised,
Israel observed slight "improvements" at PBC TV: The daily barrage of
Intifada clips stopped; "Al-Khalidun" abruptly went off the air (Abu
Ayyash says the series "came to its end"); and "Baladi Ana" suddenly
disappeared. That, Abu Ayyash conceded to The Report, was taken off so
as not to give Netanyahu "cards" to play with.

Days after the first incitement committee meeting, however, "Baladi
Ana" reappeared. And all efforts at PBC TV are focused, again, on
reciprocity. Kanafani has charged Abu Ayyash with building a file of
Israeli transgressions. "If they want to play Tom and Jerry, that's
fine," says the PBC head. ''We're monitoring them now."

The PA Ministry of Education, meanwhile, refuses to respond to the
charges of incitement in schoolbooks on grounds that the PA is working
on its own curriculum, to be introduced in the year 2002.

Israel doesn't want to wait that long. A proposal informally thrown up
at the incitement committee would have the Americans fund an immediate
reprint of edited versions of the books now in use. The Palestinians
replied that they are not prepared to deal with their schoolbooks
unless Israeli textbooks are dealt with at the same time.

Surrounded by the mounds of evidence collected by Itamar Marcus
and his staff, many plain-thinking people might conclude that the
Palestinians don't aspire to peace at all. Indeed, Marcus's material
has been enthusiastically adopted by a myriad of right-wing Israeli
and Jewish interest groups who would rather see the
Israeli-Palestinian negotiations stop in their tracks.

Surprisingly, Marcus himself avoids coming to gloom-and-doom
conclusions, instead putting a constructive spin on his work. "I see
this whole media question as the key to peace," he says. "We're
talking about the socialization of a people to either accept the
Jewish people here or not. For the long-term good and the development
of peace, we have to create an atmosphere that promotes peace in the
media and in the schools."

And Marcus goes even further. If the Palestinians themselves were
promoting peace, he suggests, there would be a "revolution" in Israeli
attitudes toward making concessions. But for that to happen, says
Marcus, the Palestinians would need to deal not only with the symptoms
-- the blatant bursts of incitement -- but with the deeper illness
itself.

The cure, it seems, is not available yet. Several weeks ago, PBC radio
interviewed Marcus about his work. The recording was never aired.
Marcus believes that is because he didn't come across as the
easy-to-dismiss right-wing provocateur PBC obviously assumed he was.
"They don't want to present us as reasonable," he concludes. "They
still fear presenting us as anything but the enemy."

II. Egyptian Opposition Newspaper
      Asserts: Jews Use Blood of
      Christians to Bake Passover Matzah
      and Carry Out Human Sacrifices
--------------------------------------------------------

Following is a translation of a virulently anti-Semitic article
entitled "The Talmud, the Jews and Human Sacrifice" which appeared in
the Egyptian opposition newspaper Al-Shaab on November 17, 1998. The
article was written by Dr. Fahmi Abd al-Salaam.

"Throughout history, the Jews have been known to be a depressed and
whiny people. There is a clear connection between the Jewish race and
depression, and many writers have described Jewish depression as a
trait characteristic of this despicable race. And we all remember
Shakespeare's Shylock who was absorbed by dark bitterness and demanded
a pound of human flesh.

In the important book "The Jews in Egypt in the Modern Era" by
researcher Orpah Abdah Ali, which was published in 1991 and which
surveyed the life and activity of the Jews in Egypt from the time of
Muhammad Ali through 1967, there is a chapter about the religious
ceremonies conducted by Jews on behalf of their God, who is the
blood-thirsty God which the Jews invented in accordance with their
nature. In that chapter it states that the Talmud, which is full of
errors, falsehoods and fabrications, played an important part in the
formulation of the of the phenomenon of "fanatic nationalism" among
the Jews, and they prefer it over the Torah.

It also states in the chapter that the Jews carry out human sacrifices
to please their blood-thirsty God. In this context, the book quotes
the Talmud as saying "We have two ways of satisfying our God: the
first is on the Feast of Matzah [Passover], using matzah mixed with
human blood, and the second is the circumcision ceremony for our
children." This, while the Jewish Encyclopedia says, "The rabbis have
given their approval for carrying out human sacrifices of Christians
to our God."

The author of the book surveys the methods by which the rabbis
slaughter a person prior to his being sacrificed to God:

1. The first method is that the victim is brought while still alive
and placed into a large barrel with sharp needles embedded in its
side. The needles pierce the victim's skin and his blood begins to
drip into the barrel. The more the victim moves due to the pain, the
worse his wounds become until finally his body is emptied of all
blood. Thus, when his soul departs from his body, the last drop of his
blood leaves as well.

2. The second method is used in places which are not secure for Jews,
where they are compelled to carry out their crimes quickly without
enjoying them: they slaughter the victim by severing his neck and
arteries after having placed a receptacle underneath him so the blood
will flow into it. Afterwards, the blood is gathered in a jar. These
jars are brought on Passover and Purim to the leading rabbi, who
blesses the blood. Then, they mix the blood together with flour to
make matzah. Afterwards, the matzah is distributed to God-fearing Jews
and they eat it with an appetite commensurate with the depth of their
hatred for Jesus and Christians.

The conditions which the victim must fulfill to be fit for Purim, as
noted by the author, are as follows: he must be an adult Christian who
is religious - preferably a priest - and he must be gentle and shy -
which attests to the quality of his blood - and not sexually active.
Similarly, he must be a friend of the Jews, so that the blood will not
be contaminated by hatred for them. The slaughtering of the victim is
entrusted to a group of 7 Jews, of whom at least one must be a rabbi.

I had thought that the matter of Jewish matzah mixed with blood was a
fabrication, but the shocking thing is that it is a fact, a fact which
has been proved in some 400 cases which have become known, while the
number of cases that have not been revealed is far higher. It was in
this framework that the Jews slaughtered a young Egyptian girl in 1881
in Port Said."

III. Jane's: Europe in Reach of Iranian
         ICBMs in 5 Years
         By Arieh O'Sullivan, Jerusalem Post
        December 13, 1998
--------------------------------------------------------

Western Europe will come under the threat of an Iranian attack from
intercontinental rockets within five years, according to Jane's
Intelligence Review.

The assessment in the latest issue of the respected London-based
publication somewhat counters that of Israeli and Western intelligence
agencies, which believe the long-range ballistic missile threat from
Iran to be 'many years off'.

According to Jane's, Iran now has in motion an advanced ballistic
missile research and development infrastructure aiming to produce a
4,000-6,000 km-range missile, using North Korean multi-stage rocket
technology.

The article quotes former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld as
saying North Korea is "only a relatively short step from a deployable
intercontinental ballistic missile [ICBM] capability".

Iran, which has a sounder economy than North Korea, is considered more
than capable of developing an ICBM. North Korea, which launched a
three-stage missile in August, has said it would not export missile
technology in return for hard currency, Jane's reported.

This contradicts the assessment by IDF intelligence, which has said
that Iran and North Korea had agreed to cooperate on missile
technology.

FOCUSING ON THE WALL
Just when you thought you'd seen everything, Virtual Jerusalem has
come up with a new Kotel Kam Zoom feature that allows internet users
to focus in on the Western Wall (Kotel). Premiering on Hanukkah,
users can now view live action at the Holy Temple remnant by clicking
on the photo of the Wall and magnifying it up to twelve times. The
original Kotel Kam, inaugurated two years ago, featured a long-range
photo of the Western Wall scene, updated every five minutes. The new
version <http://www.kotelkam.com> enables users to identify individual
visitors to the Wall; other features at the site make it easy for
people to watch a relative's bar mitzvah, for instance, by providing a
place to post coming events. Visitors to the site can learn about the
Wall, via a veritable treasure of information posted in text, audio,
and video.

From: bpr-list@philologos.org(BPR)
Date: Tue, 15 Dec 1998 12:04:20 +0000

From: "Moza" <moza@butterfly.mv.com>

In my reading this morning I came across the following which
may explain why the third seal states "...see thou hurt not the oil
and the wine" (because it is needed for anointing):

"Oil, perfumed with spices, was very usual in feasts, especially
sacred; and it was wont to be poured upon the head of some one
present.

"'The school of Shammai saith, He holds sweet oil in his right hand,
and a cup of wine in his left. He says grace first over the oil, and
then over the wine. The school of Hillel saith, Oil in his right
hand, and wine in his left. He blesseth the sweet oil, and anoints
the head of him that serves: but if the waiter be a disciple of the
wise, he anoints the wall; for it is a shame for a disciple of the
wise to smell of perfumes.'"

"Commentary on the New Testament from the Talmud and Hebraica"
by John Lightfoot.

(This 4 volume work is in the process of being put online. Matthew
chapters 1-25 are already up.)
====================

Oil and wine were also used in the Temple for drink offerings and
meat offerings:

"When presenting a meat-offering, the priest first brought it in the
golden or silver dish in which it had been prepared, and then
transferred it to a holy vessel, putting oil and frankincense upon
it. Taking his stand at the south-eastern corner of the altar, he
next took the 'handful' that was actually to be burnt, put it in
another vessel, laid some of the frankincense on it, carried it to
the top of the altar, salted it, and then placed it on the fire. The
rest of the meat-offering belonged to the priests. Every
meat-offering was accompanied by a drink-offering of wine, which was
poured at the base of the altar."

"The Temple: Its Ministry and Services" by Alfred Edersheim
http://www.mv.com/ipusers/butterfly/rev/temple.htm
====================

"The wine for use in the Temple was brought exclusively from Judaea,
not only because it was better, but because the transport through
Samaria would have rendered it defiiled. Indeed, the Mishnah mentions
the names of the five towns whence it was obtained. Similarly, the
oil used was derived either from Judaea, or, if from Peraea, the
olives only were brought, to be crushed in Jerusalem."

"Sketches of Jewish Social Life" by Alfred Edersheim
http://www.mv.com/ipusers/butterfly/sketches/00index.htm

It is very interesting to read of the division of the land in the
time of Christ which seems to parallel the division between the
Palestinians and Israelis today. Samaria (PA controlled areas?) and
the land of the Philistines (Gaza Strip?) are considered inferior,
etc.

====================

Oil and wine are used for medicinal purposes, Luke 10:34: "And went
to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine..."

Also, James 5:14 speaks to the use of oil in healing: "Is any sick
among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them
pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." This
anointing consisted of a mixture of oil, wine and water according to
a formula prescribed in the Talmud.

Subject: News: Solar Flares Pose Threat to Technology

AFTER LEONIDS, SOLAR FLARES POSE NEXT THREAT TO
EARTH'S TECHNOLOGY

December 10, 1998
By Patrick Riley

Last month's Leonid meteor storm was billed as the first major storm
of the modern space age, a challenge of endurance for the 600 active
satellites now circling the globe.

When no satellite malfunctions occurred it seemed technology - perhaps
aided by a lighter-than-expected storm - had passed the test.

Now, it turns out, the Leonid storm was merely a quiz. A potentially
greater cosmic catastrophe is still to come.

In what's being called "Solar Max 2000," intense storms on the surface
of the sun forecast to occur between now and 2004, could cause
telecommunications satellite failure, power grid outages and radio
interference, scientists say.

Solar features such as sun spots can lead to flares, or bursts of
energy equivalent to approximately 40 billion Hiroshima-size atomic
bombs. These flares can cause highly charged particles to be ejected
into space. The number of these violent storms on the surface of the
massive star peaks every 11 years in a "solar maximum." The sun is
expected to reach such a peak around 2000.

When ejected particles travel the 93 million miles to Earth and
collide with the planet's magnetic field at the rate of about 100
kilograms per second, a variation in the Earth's magnetic field, a
geomagnetic storm, can be triggered.

Such storms are visible as the Aurora Borealis. During the one or two
intense storms expected each year in the solar max period, the dancing
light show will occur on a larger scale and thus will be visible at
lower latitudes, making it a good time for sky-watching.

But the results of a geomagnetic storm could have a chaotic effect on
society, as evidenced last May when one malfunctioning satellite, the
Galaxy IV, caused up to 90 percent of the 45 million pagers used in
the United States to go out of service.

Scientists believe a geomagnetic storm may have been the culprit, as
heightened solar activity was recorded just prior to the outage. This
can affect satellites in two ways: a static charge can cause computer
malfunction, or a frictional drag can alter its course.

Never before have such problems had the potential to negatively affect
the daily lives of so many people.

"Now everybody and his kid has a pager so [a solar storm] means a lot
more," said Todd Glickman, assistant executive director of the
American Meteorological Society. "The improvements in technology and
communications means that we're putting more reliance on the kinds of
things that can be disrupted by it."

During the last solar maximum, in March of 1989, a sun-spawned storm
caused its share of trouble, despite occurring in the pre-digital age.
Fluctuating electrical currents in the magnetic field caused a power
blackout in Quebec, Canada, leaving six million people without power
for nine hours.

Such an episode could clearly happen again. "We could get a very large
regional power outage as a result of one of these storms," said Jo Ann
Joselyn, a scientist with the Space Environment Center of the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. There could also be radio or
TV interference.

"Over the course of the solar maximum there will be incidents for
sure," David Rust, head of solar physics at the Johns Hopkins
University Applied Physics Lab said. But, he added, this may not
translate into turmoil for mankind. "There are backup systems and most
people never know about these things."

Space weather forecasts and warnings are provided by the Space
Environment Center to organizations such as the Federal Emergency
Management Agency, communications companies and power companies. Power
companies can switch to a more costly grounding system during a
geomagnetic disturbance to avoid transformer overload, Rust said.

Surface troubles aside, the greatest danger is to astronauts in space
during a solar disturbance. "They'll be seeing increased levels of
radiation in the space station and if we did have an astronaut on the
moon there would be potentially very serious effects," Joselyn said.

NASA says it is prepared. Orbiters have insulated bellies which are
turned towards the sun and the space station currently under
construction and set to be manned regularly by 2000 will be "well
insulated," NASA spokesman Don Savage said. "The biggest threat from
solar activity is during space walks."

But in a worst-case scenario, he said, "we can choose to bring the
astronauts home."

NASA is working on detecting solar activity with two satellites
currently performing this task. The SOHO satellite images the sun's
surface, alerting scientists to what's happening on the sun.

The other craft, ACE, is essentially a lookout. Placed at the "neutral
point" about a million miles from Earth where the gravitational pull
of the Earth meets that of the sun, it is an early warning of
approaching charged particles.

The recent John Glenn mission also got in on the solar act, sending
out a Spartan satellite for a two-day probe which studied the solar
corona, the sun's outer atmosphere. It also was used to calibrate the
SOHO satellite.

Scientists use the satellite information for further research "to find
ways of developing technology that can help us predict when magnetic
storms and things are headed toward the Earth so we can take
appropriate actions," said Phillip Gentry of the Center for Space
Plasma and Aeronomy Research at the University of Alabama in
Huntsville, which is taking part in an international program to study
the solar cycle.

Storm conditions are already brewing, but an alignment between the
magnetic fields of the Earth and the sun - the situation most likely
to cause a disturbance - will not happen until March of 1999. "I don't
think we need to worry about this beginning until the springtime,"
Joselyn said. On the other hand, "It could surprise us and hit us
anytime."

From: "Moza" <moza@butterfly.mv.com>

Again in my reading today, I came across this information on
the ceremony surrounding the Passover lamb that seems to allude to
happenings in Revelation (vials, no one able to enter Temple until
plagues are fulfilled, etc):

"I. A lamb was to be bought, approved, and fit for the Passover.

"II. This lamb was to be brought by them into the court where the
altar was.

"'The Passover was to be killed only in the court where the other
sacrifices were slain: and it was to be killed on the fourteenth day
after noon, after the daily sacrifice, after the offering of the
incense,' &c. The manner of bringing the Passover into the court, and
of killing it, you have in Pesachin, in these words: 'The Passover is
killed in three companies; according as it is said, [Exo 12:6] "and
all the assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it (the
Passover); assembly, congregation, and Israel." The first company
enters and fills the whole court: they lock the doors of the court:
the trumpets sound: the priests stand in order, having golden and
silver vials in their hands: one row silver, and the other gold; and
they are not intermingled: the vials had no brims, lest the blood
should stay upon them, and be congealed or thickened: an Israelite
kills it, and a priest receives the blood, and gives it to him that
stands next, and he to the next, who, taking the vial that was full,
gives him an empty one. The priest who stands next to the altar
sprinkles the blood at one sprinkling against the bottom of the
altar: that company goes out, and the second comes in,' &c...

"IV. The blood being sprinkled at the foot of the altar, the lamb
flayed, his belly cut up, the fat taken out and thrown into the fire
upon the altar, the body is carried back to the place where they sup:
the flesh is roasted, and the skin given to the landlord."

Palestinian leaders have affirmed Israel's right to exist.
Members of the Palestine National Council voted almost
unanimously to remove from the PLO charter language calling for
the destruction of Israel. "I hope this will close the chapter
forever," Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat said.
...Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will attend a summit
with President Clinton and Arafat this week, Reuters said. The
Israeli government expressed satisfaction with the vote, but said
the Palestinians must stop West Bank violence and abandon plans
to declare a Palestinian state next year.
...Clinton's late pastor warned him to never abandon Israel.
"Once in the mid-1980s, we were sitting together...and he looked
at me and said: 'You might be president one day. You will make
mistakes and God will forgive you, but God will never forgive you
if you forget the state of Israel," Clinton said in a toast to
Netanyahu this week. The president is on a three-day peacemaking
trip to the Middle East.

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) - The World Council of Churches wound up its
second assembly this decade with a rejection Monday of an unfettered
global economy, vowing to help create institutions that hold the free
market accountable to social values. The assembly, which takes place
every seven years, also approved a study of the "diversity" of human

a Russian Orthodox delegation that has criticized what it sees as the
council's more liberal trend. In its flurry of final pronouncements

From: bpr-list@philologos.org(BPR)

ANNULMENT NOT LEGAL, BUT NETANYAHU CONGRATULATES
PA

Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday congratulated the Palestinians on
having annulled the clauses of the PLO charter calling for Israel's
destruction. He called the move a "historic and important act, but
only one of many that the Palestinians must do." However, several
Knesset Members noted that yesterday's voice vote by a gathering of
Palestinian VIPs in Gaza cannot be termed an official annulment of the
charter. Article 33 of the charter itself states: "This Charter shall
not be amended save by [vote of] a majority of two-thirds of the total
membership of the National Congress of the Palestine Liberation
Organization [taken] at a special session convened for that purpose."

The following elements in yesterday's vote voided its legal value: *
There are 727 members of the Congress, and only 456 members were
present - 29 members short of the required two-thirds. * The issue of
the vote was never clearly formulated. Instead, the participants simply
raised their hands and cheered when Arafat asked, "I turn to you, to
all of you, to support the letter I sent to Clinton and to recognize the
decisions that we have made for the peace. Will you raise your hands
to [do so]?" No specific clauses were annulled. * An official count of
the votes was not carried out. * This was not an official session of the
PNC called for this purpose.

Netanyahu's press aide David Bar Illan, when asked about the
doubtful legality of the vote, dodged the question of why Israel is
validating it, and said, "If the Palestinians now want to raise legalistic
points and renege on their annulment, it will be very hard for them to
do so, because the whole world saw what happened yesterday and all
the news stations around the world are talking about it."

Bar Illan said, "They did not do anyone a favor yesterday by voiding
their charter. After all, it was simply a call for the destruction of a
nation; what could be more immoral than that? Their repeal of it is the
first respectable thing they've done in a long time, and it's a disgrace
that they didn't do it five years ago... But we don't owe them any
thanks for it. What is important is that this change enter the
consciousness of the other Arab nations." He concluded, "They still
have other commitments to carry out, which I don't see them wanting
to fulfill, let alone actually fulfilling."

Fast of Tevet 10 (Dec 29, 1998)
====================

On this day, the siege of Jerusalem began during the reign of
Nebuchadnezzar, prior to the destruction of the First
Temple. The citizens of Jerusalem knew hunger as never before...

This sad day was proclaimed a fast by the rabbis to commemorate
the Destruction of the Temple and the consequent dispersion. The
sages pointed out that the day should be devoted to contemplation
of the events leading up to the siege.

In our day: The 10th Tevet has been established in Israel by the
Chief Rabbinate as the day of mourning for all those who perished
in the Holocaust and whose day of departure from this world
(yahrzeit) is unknown. The day is marked by special educational
programs in the schools.

Virtual Jerusalem, Holidays
http://www.virtual.co.il
====================

Jeremiah 52:4-6

And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth
month [Dec/Jan], in the tenth day of the month, that
Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all
his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built forts,
against it round about. So the city was besieged unto the eleventh
year of king Zedekiah [about 18 months].
====================

The month of Tevet is the darkest time of the year. Its days are the
shortest of the year and its nights the longest. The tribe associated
with Tevet is the tribe of Dan. When the Children of Israel traveled
and camped in the desert, they encircled the Holy Ark. The tribe of
Dan was the most northerly encampment. The North is a dark cold place.
The long nights of Tevet are even longer in the North. The Hebrew word
for North -- tzafon -- is spelled the same as tzafun -- which means
hidden. The Talmud tells us that one of the names of the yetzer hara
-- the negative drive -- is tzafuni (Succa 52).

Beginning on the eighth of Tevet, three days of spiritual darkness
descended on the world. The first darkness was the translation into
Greek of the Torah. King Ptolemy took 70 great Torah Sages and
confined them in separate cubicles and instructed them to translate
the Torah. Hence its name -- the Septuagint. With the translation of
the Torah into Greek, the "lion which had been roaming free was put
into a cage." The radiance of the Torah which shines through the
sentences, the words and the letters of the Holy tongue, was shuttered
into a closed room, its light constricted and obfuscated. For however
accurate a translation may be, the Torah's fathomless depths, its
mystical secrets, become truncated and lost when it speaks in another
tongue.

The second day of darkness was the passing from this world of Ezra the
Sofer on the ninth of Tevet. Ezra was among the last of the prophets.
It was he who gave the Torah the letters that we recognize today --
Ashurit script. By employing Ashurit, Ezra made the Torah accessible
to all the people. The Torah's light was able to shine out to the
least scholarly of the Jewish People. It was also Ezra who instituted
the public reading of the Torah on Mondays, Thursdays and at mincha on
Shabbat. Ezra brought Torah to the people. When his light went out on
the ninth of Tevet, the world became darker, and the Torah -- more
constrained and confined.

On the tenth of Tevet, the armies of the Babylonian emperor,
Nevuchadnetzar, led by his general Nevuzaradan began the siege on
Jerusalem, resulting in the destruction of the first Holy Temple and
the exile of the Jewish people to Babylon.

If you think about it, on the tenth of Tevet itself, ostensibly,
nothing really tragic happened. No wall was breached. No one died. Not
a shot was fired. Only the siege was begun.

Windows in planning a new NT operating system...one which

Microsoft Robot 1.0

Watch Windows learn to listen, talk and even read your mind. Windows
NT 5.0, due next year and sporting the Win98 interface, will be the
last version of Windows as we know it. The next incarnation, which
probably won't ship until around 2003-"Windows 03"-discards reliance
on windows, folders, dialog boxes, point-and-click navigation, and
drag-and-drop file management. The interface is instead a virtual
human. A robot. Here's a quick rundown on the body parts of the future
Windows robot under construction at Microsoft's multibillion-dollar
research center:

Eyes
The Vision Technology Group (VTG) intends to replace passwords. Using
a monitor-mounted camera, Windows will recognize your face and match
it to an online database. This technology already exists, and
Microsoft is working to make it more accurate. Even more
interestingly, the software will watch where you are, what you're
doing and even how you're feeling, just by interpreting your facial
expressions.

Ears
I talk to my PC all the time, usually to beg ("Please work!") or
curse. Despite an installed microphone, however, my computer isn't
listening. Yet.

Microsoft's speech technology, code-named Whisper, both accepts
commands and takes dictation, much like some of the speech
applications available today for Windows.

Natural Language Processing makes the promise of speech technology
even more compelling. Current speech technology demands specific words
in a prescribed order. In the future, you'll be able to just tell the
PC what you want in your own words, and the software will figure it
out.

Mouth
Your computer will, in fact, talk back. Microsoft's Whistler
technology reads ASCII and speaks it in a very human voice. And not
just a gene ric voice: Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and John F.
Kennedy are among those whose voices can be heard in the Microsoft
labs these days. Of course, after listening to you, the software will
be able to mimic your voice. And once you can converse with your PC,
you won't need to be near it. You'll be able to call your PC (or it
will call you) and do most of the work now possible only with
keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Mind
Other research groups at Microsoft are working on software-based
personality, decision-making and knowledge systems. The Persona
project aims to create "the illusion of a conscious being in the
machine." In essence, it will enable Windows to do what it "assumes"
you want done. The Decision Theory and Adaptive Systems Group (DTAS),
meanwhile, is working on software that will gather input from the
camera, microphone and software and proactively offer help. (PC: "I
see you're having trouble building a pie chart. May I do it for y
ou?")

So here's the $64,000 question: Does the idea of a Windows platform
that acts and interacts like a human being excite you or give you the
creeps? Let me know by sending e-mail to melgan@winmag.com .

                 ATTACK ON IRAQ AFFECTS ISRAEL

By now, all of you know that that the US and Great Britain
have attacked Israel for non-compliance with the UN Weapon's
Inspection Teams. His flaggrant violations have been used in a
diplomatic cat-and-mouse game for the past year. Once the UN team
determined that it was more of the same and Saddam Hussein's promises
to comply were not sincere, they pull out on Wednesday morning. By
last night, at midnight (Israel time) the first missiles struck
targets in Iraq. Over 200 missiles hit their mark and today
sattelites have been viewing the destruction to determine which sites
will be hit tonight.
Tonight, B-52 bombers will join the Scuds for a more forceful
attack. US Defense Secretary, William Cohen, says that the
bombardments will continued until Iraq's military capacity is
demolished. They have assessed last nights results via satteliteand
will resume their attack tonight.
At this point, Saddam Hussein is trying to look like the
victim of an unwarranted attack by the US and Great Britain.
However, sooner or later, he will come out of his lair and fight
back, and when this happens the big question is "which direction will
he fire his missiles?" Since most of the US personnel are on ships
and in planes, Israel is always an easy, fixed target on which to
take out his frustrations.
In Israel, the government is currently deliberating on
whether or not to respond with force, should Saddam Hussein launch a
Scud missile into Israeli territory. Seven years ago in the Gulf
War, Israel remained out of the war, but they may reverse this policy
this time.
All Israelis have been ordered to renew their gas mask kits
with chemical and biological agent medications. Everyone has
been told to get special sealing tape and plastic sheeting to seal a
room in case it is needed.
Foreign workers, which includes most of the BFP staff, have
not been given gas masks and will not be given it until a full alert
is declared by the Israeli government. Even then, we will have to
purchase them for about $60 each, of which $30 is refundable upon
return.
All US Consular personnel have been ordered to leave
immediately TONIGHT. Consulate kids at the Anglican school were
greatly disappointed as they would miss the end of the term and
allthe planned Christmas festivities. British citizens were told to
leave, as well, including British tourists. Those on charters in
Eilat were told to leave tonight and their planes would be waiting at
a nearby airport. If they missed the flight, then their seats would
be forfeited.
The atmosphere around town is somewhat, "been there, done
that" with not too much alarm in the air. In our Bridges for Peace
offices, Christmas music is playing and we are busily working as
usual. Our Outreach Center personnel are also going about their work
with no plans for anyone to leave. Of course, we always inform our
personnel that if they feel, or their families feel they need to
leave, then please do so.
At present, night is falling and we await the next phase of
Desert Fox. We will keep you posted as news becomes available.
Meanwhile, do pray for our safety and that of Israel and innocent
Iraqi civilians. As in the Gulf War, read and pray Psalm 91 for us,
for truly, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I
trust... He will coverus with His feathers, and under His wings we
will find refuge; His faithfulness will be our shield and rampart. We
will not fear the terror of night, or the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that
destroys at midday. If we make the Most High our dwelling - even the
Lord, who is my refuge - then no harm will befall us, no disaster
will come near our tent [house]."

Shalom from Jerusalem....

Russia May Ask Lewinsky for Help
MOSCOW (AP) _ Russian legislators considered a
motion Thursday appealing to Monica Lewinsky to help halt the
American attack on Iraq.
``The State Duma appeals to Ms. Lewinsky to undertake
corresponding measures to restrain the emotions of Bill Clinton,''
said the motion by nationalist lawmaker Alexander Filatov.
Lawmakers in the Duma, the lower chamber of parliament,
considered including the motion in a broader resolution denouncing
the attack on Iraq. But seeking to speed up passage of the
resolution, they approved it later Thursday without any additions.
There was no separate vote on the Lewinsky amendment.
The attack by the United States and Britain on Iraq was
condemned by almost all major political groups in Russia. The
Communists, the largest party in the Duma, also mentioned Clinton and
his relationship with the former White House intern.
``Many people link it with Clinton's impeachment and his
intimate relations with a certain person, but if these relations
develop into such acts of vandalism, than all of U.S. democracy is
worth a penny,'' Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov told a Duma debate
 on the Iraqi crisis.

Defence Ministry spokesman said. Interfax gave no details of precisely
what or how many units were involved. It said there were no changes in
the readiness of Russia's strategic nuclear arsenal. The Kremlin had
earlier declined to comment on Russian news agency reports that
military options were among subjects discussed by Yeltsin and Defence

In my reading today I came across the following that made me think of
Revelation 12:15:

And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the
woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

"Only those wadis [dry river beds] which are spring-fed retain their
streams throughout the year...It is too easy to be deceived by the
gentle brooks. The weather is perfect for hiking, and nothing could
be more pleasant than wading in the streams rather than walking the
tentative route along the cliffs. Yet it is a temptation that should
be resisted, for the desert is prone to flash floods of stunning and
sudden power. If it rains in the Judean Mountains, a flood can
materialize with no advance warning, crashing through the wadis with
a force that rips boulders from the hillsides and slices chunks from
the asphalt road below. The tell-tale rumble often comes too late for
any possible escape, and nearly every year a hiker is carried away by
the unpredictable and unforgiving torrent."

Russia Recalls Ambassador to U.S. from the NY Times

Filed at 9:39 a.m. EST

By The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Trying to heal a rift, President Clinton has written
Russian President Boris Yeltsin defending the U.S. decision to attack Iraq.

The letter, sent Thursday night, makes a case for the joint attack with
Britain. Clinton also recalled that the United States and Russia had worked
together in a difficult attempt to work out a peaceful resolution of Iraq's
resistance to U.N. weapons inspections, David Leavy, spokesman for the
National Security Council, said.

When diplomacy failed, Clinton wrote, it was necessary to use force. He
urged Yeltsin to put their disagreement in a larger context of the important
U.S.-Russian relationship.

On Thursday, Yeltsin recalled Ambassador Yuli M. Vorontsov to protest the
attack on Iraq.

There is little likelihood Yeltsin will change his mind. Prime Minister
Yevgeny Primakov rebuffed a telephone appeal Thursday from Vice President Al
Gore.

``This is unfortunate,'' State Department spokesman James P. Rubin said in
confirming Vorontsov had been recalled. But he said: ``We expect to work
with Russia on a variety of levels on the many issues of importance to
Russia and to us around the world.''

Recalling an ambassador for consultations is a traditional way of
registering extreme displeasure. Yeltsin's action is a major setback for the
Clinton administration in its drive for worldwide support for the bombing.

Except for France, most NATO allies backed the United States and its partner
in the punitive attacks, Britain. The French demurred, and Russia, China and
the Arab League likewise criticized the move, although Secretary of State
Madeleine Albright said the Arabs generally supported the use of force.

The bombing follows Iraq's refusal to permit U.N. weapons inspectors to
search unimpeded for chemical and biological weapons. President Saddam
Hussein had averted an Anglo-American assault last month by promising to
cooperate with U.N. inspectors.

Russia would prefer that Iraq cooperate, but it opposes the use of force. It
took the same position in 1991 when President Bush organized an
international military coalition to push Iraq out of Kuwait.

``Russia demands an immediate end to military action, to show common sense
and restraint and not to allow further escalation of the conflict,'' Yeltsin
said in Moscow.

Clinton may extend the attack this weekend into the Muslim holy month of
Ramadan in order to achieve his military objectives, David Leavy, spokesman
for the National Security Council, indicated. This could irritate Arab
leaders, although Albright said the issue had not been raised in her
conversations with them.

Clinton, Gore and Albright all reached out for wider support around the
world.

``One thing is clear,'' said Albright after talking to leaders in more than
20 countries: ``The international community is firm in its determination the
way forward is for Iraq to comply fully'' with weapons inspectors.

As U.S. and British forces struck again at Iraqi targets, Clinton telephoned
President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, King Hussein of Jordan, President Jacques
Chirac of France and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Gore told Primakov the administration had ``gone the last mile'' to get
Saddam to comply with U.N. Security Council resolutions that authorize the
rebuffed inspections. But the Russian prime minister, who has a history of
close ties with Arab governments, demanded that the U.N. Security Council
must pass a new resolution to authorize it, a Gore aide said.

Leavy declined to characterize what Clinton said to the leaders. ``They were
all good, constructive conversations,'' he said.

At her news conference, Albright said administration officials were briefing
every embassy in Washington and that she had contacted more than 20 foreign
leaders and U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan. ``The response has been
gratifying,'' she said.

Among Arab leaders, Albright said she found ``a full understanding of why we
have undertaken military action. Most expressed the view that Saddam was
entirely responsible for the military strike now under way.''

In fact, Albright said, Arab governments were assisting the United States
and Britain in their military offensive.

Subject: Clinton/democrats set new moral standard
From: bpr-list@philologos.org(BPR)
Date: Sat, 19 Dec 1998 23:03:19 -0500

From: Biff & Suzanne Clement <bc@ncinter.net>

Twenty years ago I cast my vote for the Lord Jesus Christ and for the
Kingdom of God! So, now I'm just passing through this world and I never
voted again....until six years ago...when Bill Clinton ran for president
(and Al Gore for VP). I re-registered and voted specifically to vote
against them, as I knew enough about them to know this country would hit
the skids morally. (Am I a prophet? I must be!)

As I sat watching the "Debate" in the House of Representatives today, I
couldn't help but to see the astounding similarities between 'their' war
and 'ours'. The republicans (like the sheep) were gathered on one side
holding fast to Congress' book, "The Constitution of the United States",
while the Democrats (like the goats) stood on the other side, trying to
circumvent the Constitution's rules and laws and bring in their own
agenda instead, and calling it 'good'. A great chasm separated the two
groups and the divide was so great that there could be no reconciliation
or agreement...for one group stood on the law, while the other opposed
it and became a law unto themselves (Just as we see today in certain
"Christian" groups who refuse to yield to the truth).

I watched the democrats follow their leader, Slick Willy, in side
stepping, ignoring and subverting the truth, calling evil good and good
evil. I watched them as their voices rose in loud protests to 'defend'
a proven whoremonger several times over, a proven purjurere and liar to
a grand jury, to congress, and to the american people, a proven thief, a
proven obstructor of justice, and as phony a man as I have ever seen,
Christian or non-Christian. He, his wife and Al Gore have gone a long
way in tearing down the moral fabric set and kept in place by those who
respect what God has to say in His Law concerning honesty, integrity,
etc.

Values as 'Integrity', 'Honesty', 'Moral Character' don't mean a can of
beans in the Clinton, democratic administration! Their excuse is that
man is weak and subject to moral and ethical dilemnas and should be
forgiven and pardoned for planning and continuing in their sexual
exploits, their lying under oath in embarrassment to tell the truth, in
their covering up and destroying evidence so that they won't be found
out when tried by men (as Starr) whose job it is to find the truth.

Then I look at someone as Congressman Livingston/ Republican/ who, when
his past sins found him out (with the help of honorary democratic
congressman Larry Flint of Hustler magazine) he had the integrity and
the character to step down, and thus sets a clear example for Clinton,
whose sins are much, much greater and much more willful. And I think,
'Now there's a guy (Livingston) showing genuine repentance for his sin,
facing the truth, accepting his punishment, stepping down, so as to make
many so-called "Christians" who lack such moral depth even more phony.

I watch all of this play out, and I am sickened by it all. Even though
(most of, if not all of) the Republicans in the Congress are not saved,
I admire them for their courage, and for their ability to stand by their
truth (in this case the U.S.Constitution) in the face of all
opposition. My hats are off to them. They remained steadfast on their
'word': The Constitution! In upholding their book of "Law" they stand
in stark contrast to many who profess to be 'Christians' yet fail to
uphold the Christian's book of Law: 'The Word Of God'! I can assure you
with all my heart, based on the Word of God that it will go far easier
on these unsaved republican Congressmen, who express honesty and
integrity, come the judgement day than it will on those who 'profess'
outwardly to be Christians, but inwardly (where it counts) they never
knew Him, or He them!

The democrats, on the other hand, remained on 'Clinton's word': his own
testimony. They have defended a liar - a liar from beginning to end. A
man with no morals! A man who has set a precedent in escaping his
punishment, that will cause children and give children every right to
feel the way they do when they grow up and murder and cheat and lie and
kill, in their state of lawlessness.

Bill Clinton, the man whose integrity, honesty and moral character
should stand (at least outwardly) higher than the people who elected him
as an example of leadership, will be their new leader and hero...This
man who sees and uses women as sex objects! This man who will stop at
nothing to have his way and say, to look good and go on looking good no
matter what! This man who is an expert (as Satan is an expert) in
manipulating people over to his own cause by hook, crook or phony
tears. This man who has intentionally lied under oath and covered up to
a federal grand jury: A FEDERAL CRIME which calls for IMPEACHMENT by the
Constitution of the USA. PERIOD!
And now he will show everyone HOW TO GET AWAY WITH IT...AND...HOW TO
SWAY ALL THE DEMOCRATS TO DEFEND HIS ACTIONS AND CONDEMN THOSE WHO
OPPOSE HIM, ALL THE WHILE AVOIDING THE ISSUES (sound familiar,
Christian?).

And now, when I think of the republican congress and their sense of
loyalty to the Constitution of the United States I get a sense of what
Jesus was saying when He spoke of the Roman gaurd who came to Him in
faith, saying that he knew how to give and how to obey orders. Meaning
he didn't have to "see" the miracle that Jesus was about to do for his
sick relative, but only "believe" in Him and that He would do it. Jesus
praised this man for his great faith.

I used this example to show you the difference between those who know
what their duty is and those who don't. The democrats have forfeited
their duty to the Constitution and to this country when they voted
against impeaching Clinton on the grounds that his crimes (in their
eyes) weren't 'high' enough to warrant it. They failed in their duty,
as clearly laid out by the Constitution!
The republicans, on the other hand, were clear on the mandates of the
Constitution and voted in the only way that was ordered them (by the
Constitution), in favor of impeachment. They faithfully followed
orders, laid down many years ago, by their founding forefathers.

Everytime I see or hear Bill, Hillary, or Al my stomach begins to grind
and I end up with a putrid taste in my mouth (just like in spiritual
warfare), when I realize who these people are, what they're out to do
(destroy), and how they use 'God' (and Tony Campolo) whenever their need
to invoke His name arises...for their political gain. (Al - Mother Gaia
- Gore didn't even know the simple words to Hark the Herald Angels Sing,
and pretended to try and mouth them last night on a TV special.)

In conclusion, no Christian should have political ambitions! Our only
ambition is to please God and remain faithful to Him by His Word alone,
awaiting His every beck and call. It is the call and duty of every
Christian to be salt and light to the world. As it is written, if the
salt loses its flavor it's no good. Throw it out! And the light? Let
it shine. Let it expose. Let it reveal. Thus we let them taste what
we're made of and let them see where we're going: Always back to The
Foundation of God's Word, in the hope that they too like what they are
sensing and hearing and seeing and will investigate more fully into
'where' we're coming from...then we'll tell them.
