MAJOR RUSSIAN ROCKET ATTACK IN CHECHNYA: At least three Russian-
launched rockets exploded today in a market in the center of
Grozny, capital of the rebellious Chechnya province, killing an
estimated 60 people and injuring 150 or more. Russians have been
shelling Chechnya in what they say is an attempt to eliminate
Islamic terrorists blamed for setting off deadly bombs in
Russian cities. Speculation is widespread that Russian troops
are preparing to enter Grozny, as they did in 1994. That assault
touched off a two-year war that killed tens of thousands of
people.

GIMME THAT OLD-TIME RELIGION: The mayor of Asheville, N.C., has
apologized to local clergy for any offense, but says she won't
withdraw a proclamation declaring Oct. 25-31 Earth Religions
Awareness Week. Mayor Leni Sitnick's proclamation says pagan
religions are "among the oldest spiritual systems on the planet"
and have "given us practical knowledge of herbal remedies,
midwifery and alternative forms of healing." The Rev. Jim Dykes,
chairman of the Community Council for Biblical Values, asked
Sitnick to proclaim "Lordship of Jesus Christ Week" instead, and
said he plans to seek permission to offer a "historical account"
of the Christmas story in schools. Last week a Wiccan priestess
gave a talk at a local elementary school that she said was
designed to counter myths about witchcraft. (Thanks, John David
Powell)

Falwell Vows To Tone Down Rhetoric Against Gays

October 22, 1999

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Baptist leader Jerry Falwell, responding
to accusations that his teachings have prompted hate crimes
against homosexuals, Thursday pledged to carefully examine his
language in the future.

Rev. Falwell, chancellor of Liberty University, is co-hosting a
summit of gay leaders in Lynchburg, Va. Saturday along with Rev.
Mel White, a gay cleric and co-founder of an outspoken gay
rights group, Soulforce.

In an interview with "Religion and Ethics Newsweekly," a news
magazine program produced for public television, Falwell said he
knew of no documented cases where Biblical teaching had
resulting in anyone committing violent acts against gays.

But he said his ministry was being more careful now. "There's
always room for us to do things better," he said.

"We have looked very carefully at and will look more carefully
in the future at any kind of rhetoric in our writings or
preachments or whatever, that might lead someone to have
hostility toward anybody, and that includes gays and lesbians,"
he told the program.

Falwell said he still believed homosexuality was wrong, but was
trying to tone down his language against gays.

"LOVE THE SINNER, HATE THE SIN"

"I think that my position, which is and ever shall be because
of my belief in the scripture is that homosexuality, the
lifestyle, is wrong ... But I'm working at trying ... to love
the sinner and hate the sin," he said.

White, appearing on the same program, said Falwell was sending
an important signal, and predicted he would face criticism for
his stance.

"I think Jerry is sending a very important signal to us all --
let's talk to each other, let's find each other's differences,
take stands where we need to, but at the same time love each
other in the process," he added.

After the death of a gay Wyoming college student in October
1998, some people in the gay community accused Falwell and other
religious leaders who preach against homosexuality of fanning
the fires of hate crimes against gays and lesbians.

Matthew Shepard was pistol-whipped by assailants who tied him
to a fence and left him for dead. He died five days later.

In an open letter to Falwell dated Oct. 4, White said Falwell's
anti-gay stance "cripples the spirits of my sisters and
brothers, destroys their lives, divides their families, and
gives the mob license to bash and murder us."

Falwell had "become one of the nation's primary sources of
misinformation about homosexuality and homosexuals," and urged
him to show that he was sincere in calling for an end to
inflammatory language, White said.

Falwell won national prominence in the 1970s and 1980s as
leader of the Moral Majority, a U.S. conservative political
movement that helped elect Presidents Ronald Reagan and George
Bush.

Subject: [BPR] - La Nina Reappears in Pacific

La Nina Reappears in Pacific

The Associated Press
Oct. 22, 1999; 2:39 a.m. EDT

PASADENA, Calif. -- Scientists are predicting a wet winter across the
Northwest and a dry one in the Southwest after discovering the
reappearance of La Nina in the Pacific Ocean.

A U.S.-French satellite earlier this month detected a pool of unusually
cool water in the eastern North Pacific, and warm water in the western
and mid-latitude Pacific.

"These unbalanced conditions will undoubtedly exert a very strong
influence on climate over North America this fall and winter,"
oceanographer William Patzert of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory said
this week.

The observations by the U.S.-French Topex-Poseidon satellite came
three months after La Nina appeared to be fading away.

La Nina is characterized by unusually cold sea-surface temperatures in
the eastern and central Pacific, which trigger atmospheric patterns that
influence weather around the world. La Nina is linked to cooler
conditions in central North America, and dry, warm conditions in the
Southern states.

Last year's La Nina contributed to a series of huge storms that blasted
Washington, Oregon and northern California with hurricane-force
winds, heavy rains and mountain snows, and powerful storms
elsewhere in the world.

Patzert called conditions "ripe" for a stormy winter in the Pacific
Northwest and a relatively dry winter in the Southwest.

"Clearly, these unusual conditions, which have persisted for 2 1/2 years,
will not be returning to normal anytime soon," Patzert said. "This
climate imbalance is big and we're definitely going through a decade of
wild, climatic behavior."

Last winter's La Nina followed the historic 1997-98 El Nino, which was
blamed for heavy snow in the West, massive flooding in Africa and
drought in Asia.

UNITED STATES FILLS OVERSEAS CACHES FOR Y2K

The United States has topped off overseas emergency caches to
help cope with crises that could be sparked by the Year 2000
computer glitch, a senior official said Thursday.
``Strategically located stockpiles of food, blankets and
emergency supplies are at capacity level,'' Richard Nygard of
the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) told the

POLLUTED ISLAND IN ARAL SEA THREATENS WORLD WITH ANTHRAX

Some 2,300 miles south of Moscow in the middle of the Aral Sea
lies one of the darkest secrets of the Cold War: Vozrozhdeniye

some of the deadliest germs in the world there. Now their work
is buried in a shallow, sandy grave -- alive and, according to
U.S. experts, a major threat to everyone on Earth.

25,000 BLACKBIRDS POISONED

Grain laced with a pesticide and deliberately spread on an
Illinois farm field killed at least 25,000 blackbirds, most of
them belonging to a protected species, investigators said on
Wednesday. ``It appears it was a commonly used agricultural
insecticide applied to some grain that was then spread in the
field, apparently for the sole purpose of eliminating a
population of blackbirds that were perceived to be a nuisance,''
said Joe Khayyat, a spokesman for the state Department of
Natural Resources.

Prince Charles Snubs Chinese President

Prince Charles showed his contempt for China's human rights
record by boycotting the state banquet given on Thursday by
Chinese President Jiang Zemin in honour of Queen Elizabeth, The
Daily Telegraph reported.

The heir to the British throne also refused to accompany Ziang
on engagements during his state visit which ends on Friday, the
paper said.

The Telegraph described the prince's decision as "a notable
break with protocol", and said it was motivated by his
admiration for the Dalai Lama, whom Charles has met twice.

The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader paid a private visit to the
prince at his English country home five months ago, the
newspaper said.

Charles attended a state banquet at Buckingham Palace on
Tuesday for the Chinese leader so as not to embarrass his
mother, Queen Elizabeth, the paper said.

Officials said Charles was unable to attend the return banquet
at the Chinese embassy on Thursday because he had a previous
"private engagement" to dine with friends at St James's palace,
his London home.

The prince would normally have been expected to take part in
Thursday's banquet, which was attended by the queen and other
senior members of the royal family.

Jiang's visit to Britain, the first stop on a 17-day, six-
nation tour, has been dogged by small but vocal groups of
protesters opposed to what they say is China's brutal occupation
of Tibet.

Laying and Anointing of the Cornerstone for the Third Temple

The Temple Mount and Land of Faithful Movement stated in early
September that on the 27th of that month, during the Feast of
Tabernacles, the movement would anoint and lay a cornerstone for
the Third Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. In the
statement which the movement published in Israel before this
historical event, the Movement wrote:

"Israel, the Chosen People of G-d, is now living in the most
exciting time in their history. These are the godly, prophetic
end-times and G-d is redeeming the people of Israel. The biggest
dream and vision of the G-d and people of Israel is becoming a
reality in the great time in which we are living in the sight of
all nations.

Blessed are those whose hearts and eyes are open to understand
and accept what G-d is doing with Israel at this great time.
When G-d said to the nations "Love Me through My people, Israel,
He knew how much it would be need and especially in our time
when Israel is again surrounded by so many enemies who are
trying to destroy this great prophetic end-time dream and
vision. Together with you we shall tell them that they have no
chance because only the G-d of Israel controls the destiny of
Israel and He is determined to accomplish His end-time plans
with the people and land of Israel and then with all the
nations. The foundation of the State of Israel in 1948 opened
this godly end-time scenario and prophesy became a reality,
also when G-d started to regather the Jewish people from all
over the world to the land which He gave to Israel in an
eternal covenant. Now it is the time to rebuild the House of G-d
on the holy Temple Mount, the location of the First and Second
temples. G-d is ready for this and He expects Israel to re-
liberate the Temple Mount from the pagan Arab worshippers and to
rebuild His house to again be the heart, soul and focus of
Israel and all the nations. The Temple Mount and Land of Israel
Faithful Movement has decide to wait no more and to bring the G-
d of Israel back to His rebuilt house on Mt.Moriah in the midst
of the life of Israel and all the world and to make the word in
Isaiah a reality in our lifetime:

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain
of the Lord's house shall be established on the top of the
mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all
nations shall flow to it. And many people shall go and say,
Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house
of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we
will walk in his paths; for from Zion shall go forth Torah, and
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among
the nations, and shall decide for many people; and they shall
beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning
hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor
shall they learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come, and let
us walk in the light of the Lord." (Isaiah (2:2-5)

You are invited to march with The Temple Mount and Land of
Israel Faithful Movement to the Temple Mount and to
participate in the ceremony of the anointing of the cornerstone
for the Third Temple.

We shall march from the Temple Mount to the City of King David
where the ceremony of the anointing will take place. Then we
shall march to the Pool of Siloam for the ceremony of the
Pouring of the Water will take place as it was done in the
Biblical times. The marble corner-stone, untouched by iron,
weighing four and a half tonne, will be carried on a flat-bed
truck, covered with Israeli flags together with the
reconstructed vessels for the Third Temple, a priest in the
original garments, and Levites who will play music."

All the preparations for this godly event were done and the
marble cornerstone was ready to be laid on the Temple Mount.
However, we were informed that the Arabs on the Temple Mount
were doing everything to stop the event. The Israeli authorities
then decided not to allow the cornerstone to be laid on the
Temple Mount because of the Arab opposition and the fear that
the Arabs would cause a riot. The petition which the Temple
Mount Faithful made to the Supreme Court did not change the
situation. Again a weakness of the Israeli leadership delayed G-
d's timing to lay a cornerstone for the Third Temple and to
start the building of the House of G-d at this prophetic end-
time. The authorities allowed the Temple Mount and Land of
Israel Faithful Movement to bring the cornerstone along the
Eastern Wall of the Temple Mount and the Eastern gate and to the
City of King David in Jerusalem which is below the southern
walls of the Temple Mount and then to the Pool of Siloam and
to circle the walls of the Temple Mount and Biblical Jerusalem
with the truck with the cornerstone on it.

The Temple Mount Faithful Movement decided to hold this event
despite the circumstances. We decided that the bringing of the
cornerstone so close to the Eastern gate of the Temple Mount
and to the City of King David has an important historical
significance. This is an important stage in the process of the
rebuilding of the temple and a very significant step towards
the soon rebuilding of the temple.

In the early morning of the 27th September, the members of the
Temple Mount Faithful, together with their followers, came to
the Western gate of the Temple Mount. Together with them was a
priest who wore the original garments of the priesthood which
were prepared in Jerusalem in the last years exactly as it was
in Biblical times. He looked very special, exactly as it was
in the temple and reflected holiness and the glory of G-d. In
his one hand he held a shofar which he blew before the Temple
Mount and in the other hand he held a vessel for the water
from the Pool of Siloam. He marched to the Temple Mount at the
front of the crowd under a chuppah made from the Israeli flag
with the Star of David which four men held. Together with him
were other priests and Levites who carried vessels for the Third
Temple. The Levites played musical instruments.

What was also very special in this exciting event, was that
besides the Israelis who participated in the event there were a
few hundred people from all over the world. It had a unique
significance that people from America, Africa, Europe and Asia
marched together with the Israelis to lay a cornerstone fro the
Third Temple. The Word of G-d for the last days prophesied by
the prophet Isaiah: "My House will be house of prayer for all
nations," started to be fulfilled and become a reality in this
historical event. It was so exciting to see some of them even
praying from the Psalms and the Hebrew Scriptures in the
Hebrew language which they knew so well. They even blew the
shofars which they brought with them and it gave everyone a
feeling of joy that we are living in a great godly time. The
feeling was that we are very close to the moment when we shall
lay the cornerstone on the Temple Mount itself and the Third
Temple will be rebuilt. We felt very privileged to be vessels of
G-d at this great time.

All the big crowd, together with the Israeli and the temple
flags marched to the Western gate of the Temple Mount. In front
of the gate the head of The Temple Mount Faithful Movement,
Gershon Salomon, called on the Israeli Government not to be
afraid of the Arab enemies of Israel and their allies all over
the world but to trust only in the G-d of Israel and His
prophetic promises. He called on the Israeli Government not to
make the mistake which the ten spies made in the time of
Moses when they were afraid of the "giants" and were not strong
enough to trust in the promises of the G-d of Israel, that He
would defeat the giants, protect Israel and give them the land.
He said that Israel is now tested by G-d on the Temple Mount:
Will they trust in the end-time promises of G-d and His
prophetic Word to the People of Israel or again make this
critical mistake and be afraid of the evil enemies of Israel. He
called on them to behave like the young David when, together
with G-d, he defeated the armed Goliath and the Philistines
just with a small stone; to never forget the lesson that G-d
has taught Israel since He started a dialogue and relationship
with them that they should and can trust only in Him and that,
together with Him, Israel will be a majority and the enemies,
even when they are all the world will be a minority. He called
on the Government to allow the laying of the cornerstone for the
Third Temple in the same location of the First and Second
Temples on the Temple Mount and to immediately start with the
rebuilding of the temple and to open a new godly era in the life
of Israel and all the world and to once again bring the G-d
of Israel into the midst of the life and Land of Israel and
the life of all the nations. He called on them to immediately
stop the false and anti-godly so-called "Peace Process"; to
immediately stop the pagan foreign control on the Temple Mount,
the hill of G-d and the division of the Land of Israel which
G-d gave in an eternal covenant to the people of Israel
alone and the giving away of the main parts of it tie most cruel
enemies of and Israel under the pressure of the President of
the United States, The UN Organisation, The European Union, the
Arabs, Muslims and the rest of the world. He called on all of
them to recognise and to support only one peace process: the
godly process of the end-time redemption of the People and Land
of Israel..; to accept and assist modern Israel which is the
end-time accomplishment of G-d's eternal covenant with
Abraham and his seed. This is the only process which should
and can be fulfilled in our time and nobody can stop it, even
all the world. The rebuilding of the temple, the house of G-d
in Jerusalem, the capital of G-d and Israel will be the
climax of and will accomplish this godly process, and will open
the gate to the coming of Maschiach ben David to Jerusalem. Only
then will there be real peace in Israel and all over the world
when a wolf and a lion will live together with the lamb in
peace. A wonderful peaceful prophetic vision that our generation
has the opportunity to experience.

Before the Western gate, all the participants read and prayed
Psalm 122: " A Song of Ascents of David. I was glad when they
said to me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. Our feet
shall stand inside your gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is built
as a city which is bound firmly together; There the tribes go
up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for Israel, to give
thanks to the name of the Lord. For thrones of judgment were set
there, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace
of Jerusalem; those who love you shall prosper. Peace be within
your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. For my brothers
and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within you.
Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good."

I was an exciting moment and tears came to the eyes of people
when they also prayed Psalm 126: "A Song of Ascents. When the
Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like men who
dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue
with singing; then they said among the nations, The Lord has
done great things for them. The Lord has done great things for
us; we are glad. Bring back our captivity, O Lord, like the
streams in the Negev. Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.
He who goes forth weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall
come back with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him."

Then all the people marched to the City of King David and at
the same place where King David first brought the Ark of the
Covenant to Jerusalem and anointed it in a joyful ceremony to be
in the Holy of Holies of the temple, The Temple Mount Faithful
held a similar ceremony of anointing the marble cornerstone for
the Third Temple. In front of the cornerstone, Gershon prayed
the prayer of King Solomon which he prayed when he completed the
building of the First Temple: "Then Solomon assembled the elders
of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the
fathers of the people of Israel, before king Solomon in
Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of
the Lord from the city of David, which is Zion. And all the
men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast
in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. And all the
elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. And they
brought up the ark of the Lord, and the tabernacle of the
congregation, and all the holy utensils that were in the
tabernacle, those did the priests and the Levites bring up. And
king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, who were
assembled before him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing
sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for
multitude. And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of
the Lord to his place, to the sanctuary of the house, to the
most holy place, under the wings of the kerubim. For the kerubim
spread out their two wings over the place of the ark, and the
kerubim covered the ark and its poles above. And they drew out
the poles, so that the ends of the poles were seen out in the
holy place before the sanctuary, and they were not seen outside;
and there they are to this day. There was nothing in the ark
save the two tablets of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb,
when the Lord made a covenant with the people of Israel, when
they came out of the land of Egypt. And it came to pass, when
the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled
the house of the Lord, And that the priests could not stand to
minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord had
filled the house of the Lord. Then spoke Solomon, The Lord said
that he would dwell in the thick darkness. I have surely built
you a house to dwell in, a settled place for you to abide in
forever. And the king turned his face around, and blessed all
the congregation of Israel; and all the congregation of Israel
stood; And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spoke
with his mouth to David my father, and has with his hand
fulfilled it, saying, Since the day when I brought forth my
people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city from all the tribes
of Israel to build a house, that my name might be in there; but
I chose David to be over my people Israel. And it was in the
heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the
Lord God of Israel. And the Lord said to David my father,
Because it was in your heart to build a house to my name, you
did well that it was in your heart. Nevertheless you shall not
build the house; but your son who shall come forth from your
loins, he shall build the house to my name. And the Lord has
performed his word that he spoke, and I have risen in place of
David my father, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord
promised, and I have built a house for the name of the Lord God
of Israel. And I have set there a place for the ark, where the
covenant of the Lord is, which he made with our fathers, when
he brought them out of the land of Egypt. And Solomon stood
before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the
congregation of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven;
And he said, Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you, in
heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keeps covenant and
mercy with your servants who walk before you with all their
heart; Who have kept with your servant David my father what
you promised him; you spoke also with your mouth, and have
fulfilled it with your hand, as it is this day. Therefore now,
Lord God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father what
you promised him, saying, There shall not fail you a man in my
sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that your children take
heed to their way, that they walk before me as you have walked
before me. And now, O God of Israel, let your word, I pray you,
be confirmed, which you spoke to your servant David my father.
But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and
heaven of heavens cannot contain you; how much less this house
that I have built? Yet have regard for the prayer of your
servant, and for his supplication, O Lord my God, to listen to
the cry and to the prayer, which your servant prays before you
today; That your eyes may be open toward this house night and
day, toward the place of which you have said, My name shall be
there; that you may listen to the prayer which your servant
shall make toward this place. And listen to the supplication of
your servant, and of your people Israel, when they shall pray
toward this place; and hear you in heaven your dwelling place;
and when you hear, forgive. If any man trespasses against his
neighbor, and an oath is laid upon him to cause him to swear,
and the oath comes before your altar in this house; Then hear
you in heaven, and do, and judge your servants, condemning the
wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the
righteous, to give him according to his righteousness. When your
people Israel are stuck down before the enemy, because they have
sinned against you, and shall turn again to you, and confess
your name, and pray, and make supplication to you in this
house; Then hear you in heaven, and forgive the sin of your
people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave
to their fathers. When heaven is closed, and there is no rain,
because they have sinned against you; if they pray toward this
place, and acknowledge your name, and turn from their sin, when
you afflict them; Then hear you in heaven, and forgive the sin
of your servants, and of your people Israel, and teach them the
good way where they should walk, and give rain upon your land,
which you have given to your people for an inheritance. If there
is in the land famine, if there is pestilence, blasting, mildew,
locust, or if there is caterpillar; if their enemy besiege
them in the land of their cities; whatever plague, whatever
sickness there might be; Whatever prayer and supplication is
made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who shall know
every man the plague of his own heart, and spread out his hands
toward this house; Then hear you in heaven your dwelling
place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to
his ways, whose heart you know; for you, you only, know the
hearts of all the children of men; That they may fear you all
the days that they live in the land which you gave to our
fathers. And also concerning a stranger, who is not of your
people Israel, but comes from a far country for your name's
sake; For they shall hear of your great name, and of your
strong hand, and of your stretched out arm; when he shall come
and pray toward this house; Hear you in heaven your dwelling
place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to you
for; that all people of the earth may know your name, to fear
you, as do your people Israel; and that they may know that this
house, which I have built, is called by your name. If your
people go out to battle against their enemy, wherever you
shall send them, and shall pray to the Lord toward the city
which you have chosen, and toward the house that I have built
for your name; Then hear you in heaven their prayer and their
supplication, and maintain their cause. If they sin against you,
for there is no man who does not sin, and you are angry with
them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them
away captive to the land of the enemy, far or near; Yet if they
take thought in the land where they were carried captive, and
repent, and make supplication to you in the land of them that
carried them captive, saying, We have sinned, and have done
perversely, we have committed wickedness; And so return to you
with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of
their enemies, who led them away captive, and pray to you
toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city
which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your
name; Then hear you their prayer and their supplication in
heaven your dwelling place, and maintain their cause, And
forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their
transgressions where they have transgressed against you, and
give them compassion before those who carried them captive, that
they may have compassion on them; For they are your people, and
your inheritance, whom you brought forth out of Egypt, from the
midst of the furnace of iron; That your eyes may be open to the
supplication of your servant, and to the supplication of your
people Israel, to listen to them in all that they call for to
you. For you did set them apart from among all the people of
the earth, to be your inheritance, as you spoke by the hand of
Moses your servant, when you brought our fathers out of Egypt, O
Lord God. And it was so, that when Solomon had finished praying
all this prayer and supplication to the Lord, he arose from
before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with
his hands spread up to heaven. And he stood, and blessed all the
congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying, Blessed be the
Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all
that he promised; there has not failed one word of all his
good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his
servant. The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers;
let him not leave us, nor forsake us; That he may incline our
hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his
commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he
commanded our fathers. And let these my words, with which I
have made supplication before the Lord, be near to the Lord our
God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant,
and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as each day may
require; That all the people of the earth may know that the Lord
is God, and that there is no one else. Let your heart therefore
be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and
to keep his commandments, as at this day. And the king, and
all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the Lord. And
Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered
to the Lord, twenty two thousand oxen, and a hundred and
twenty thousand sheep. And the king and all the people of Israel
dedicated the house of the Lord. The same day did the king
hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the
Lord for there he offered burnt offerings, and meal offerings,
and the fat of the peace offerings; because the bronze altar
that was before the Lord was too small to receive the burnt
offerings, and meal offerings, and the fat of the peace
offerings. And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel
with him, a great congregation, from the entrance to Hamath to
the brook of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seven days and
seven days, fourteen days. On the eighth day he sent the people
away; and they blessed the king, and went to their tents joyful
and glad of heart for all the goodness that the Lord had done
for David his servant, and for Israel his people." (1 Kings 8)

It is no accident that the Temple Mount Faithful Movement held
this event at the Feast of Tabernacles, the same date that King
Solomon dedicated the First Temple. After this Gershon prayed
from the prophet Haggai to immediately rebuild the temple and
not to leave the House of G-d in ruins and in the this
shameful situation. "Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying,
This people say that the time has not yet come, the time that
the Lord's house should be built. Then came the word of the Lord
by Haggai the prophet, saying, Is it time for you, yourselves,
to dwell in your well timbered houses, while this house lies in
ruins? And therefore thus says the Lord of hosts; Consider your
ways. You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but you
have not enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink;
you dress yourself, but there is no warm; and he who earns wages
earns wages to put it into a bag with holes. Thus says the Lord
of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring
wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and
I will be glorified, says the Lord. You looked for much, and,
behold, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I
blew it away. Why? says the Lord of hosts. Because of my house
that lies in ruins, and everyone of you runs to his own house.
Therefore the heaven above you have withheld the dew, and the
earth has withheld its produce. And I called for a drought upon
the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon
the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground
brings forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the
labor of the hands. ... Then Haggai the Lord's messenger spoke
the Lord's message to the people, saying, I am with you, says
the Lord. ... In the seventh month, in the twenty first day of
the month, came the word of the Lord by the prophet Haggai,
saying, Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor
of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest,
and to the remnant of the people, saying, Who is left among you
who saw this house in its first glory? How do you see it now?
Is it not in your eyes as nothing? Yet now be strong, O
Zerubbabel, says the Lord: and be strong, O Joshua, son of
Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of
the land, says the Lord, and work; for I am with you, said the
Lord of hosts; According to the promise which I made you when
you came out of Egypt, so my spirit remains among you; do not
fear For thus says the Lord of hosts; Yet again in a little
while, I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea,
and the dry land. And I will shake all nations, so that the
treasures of all nations shall come; and I will fill this house
with glory, says the Lord of hosts. The silver is mine, and
the gold is mine, says the Lord of hosts. The glory of this
latter house shall be greater than that of the former, says the
Lord of hosts; and in this place I will give peace, says the
Lord of hosts. ... And again the word of the Lord came to Haggai
on the twenty fourth day of the month, saying: Speak to
Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens
and the earth; And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and
I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations; and
I will overthrow the chariots, and those who ride in them; and
the horses and their riders shall come down, everyone by the
sword of his brother. On that day, says the Lord of hosts, I
will take you, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel,
says the Lord, and will make you like a signet ring; for I
have chosen you, says the Lord of hosts." (Haggai 1:1-11,13;2:4-
9,20-23)

After this he warned the Government and People of Israel to
listen to the Word of G-d through the prophet Haggai and to no
longer leave the Temple Mount in ruins and terrible pagan
abomination but to immediately start with the rebuilding of
the House of G-d. He warned Israel that exactly as in the
time of Haggai, Israel has had almost no rain over the last
year, has no peace and has other troubles in her life. Terrible
events are also happening all over the world, earthquakes,
floods, tornadoes, nuclear dangers and other terrible threats.
Only the redemption of the Temple Mount and the rebuilding o f
the temple will completely change this terrible situation and
bring the blessings of G-d and real peace in the life of
Israel and all the nations.

In the Biblical times the ceremony of the drawing of the water
was done by the hundreds of thousands of pilgrims who came to
Jerusalem during the feast of tabernacles. They used to march
from the temple in a very joyful event with the High Priest, the
priests and the Levites preceding them to the Pool of Siloam to
participate in the ceremony of "Nisooch hamayim". They brought
the water back to the temple where it was poured out on the
altar with prayers to G-d to bless Israel and all the world
with much rain and all His other good blessings for a good
year. In the same way all the people, with the cornerstone
preceding them, marched to the Pool of Siloam and held the
ceremony of the drawing of the water exactly as in Biblical
times. The priest drew the water in the vessel he was carrying
and prayed from the Psalms and other places in the Scriptures.
"A Song of Ascents. I will lift up my eyes to the mountains.
From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who
made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he
who watches you will not slumber. Behold, he who watches
Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade upon your right hand. The sun shall not
strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall
preserve you from all evil; he shall preserve your soul. The
Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from
this time forth, and for evermore." (Psalm 121) "A Song of
Ascents of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for
brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious
ointment upon the head, that runs down upon the beard, Aaron's
beard, that runs down to the hem of his garments. Like the dew
of Hermon descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the
Lord has commanded the blessing, life for evermore." (Psalm
133) "A Song of Ascents. Behold, bless the Lord, all you
servants of the Lord, who by night stand in the house of the
Lord. Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.
May the Lord who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion!"
(Psalm 134)

It was an exciting ceremony. The priest blew the shofar, the
Levites played on the musical instruments and all the people
sang together with them. Then the priest, in his Biblical
garments, walked to the cornerstone, poured the water on it,
anointed it and prayed Psalm 135.

"Hallelujah! Praise the name of the Lord! Praise him, O you
servants of the Lord! You who stand in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God, Hallelujah! For the
Lord is good; sing praises to his name; for it is pleasant.
For the Lord has chosen Jacob to himself, and Israel for his own
possession. For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord
is above all gods. Whatever the Lord wishes, he has done in
heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. He
causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes
lightnings for the rain; he brings forth the wind from his
storehouses. He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, both of
man and beast, Who sent signs and wonders into the midst of you,
O Egypt, against Pharaoh, and against all his servants. Who
struck great nations, and slew mighty kings: Sihon king of the
Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of
Canaan, And gave their land for a heritage, a heritage to
Israel his people. Your name, O Lord, endures for ever; and your
renown, O Lord, throughout all generations. For the Lord will
judge the cause of his people, and he will relent concerning his
servants. The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work
of men's hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; they
have eyes, but they do not see; They have ears, but they do not
hear; and in their mouths there is no breath. May they who make
them become like them, and every one who trusts in them! Bless
the Lord, O house of Israel! Bless the Lord, O house of Aaron!
Bless the Lord, O house of Levi! O you, who fear the Lord, bless
the Lord! Blessed be the Lord from Zion, he who dwells at
Jerusalem! Hallelujah!" (Psalm 135)

Then all the people followed the cornerstone back to the top
of the mountain inside the Old City near the Western gate of the
Temple Mount. Their they prayed the afternoon prayer of the
holiday and sang the HaTikvah, the national anthem of Israel.

The cornerstone circled the walls of the Temple Mount and the
Biblical city of Jerusalem seven times. It was a very symbolic
event with a deep significance. The message was that as in the
time of Joshua who circled the walls of Jericho seven times
until they fell, as G-d commanded him, in the same way the
walls of hostility which block the way of the cornerstone to the
Temple Mount will now fall.

All the people, including the participants from all over the
world, concluded this exciting godly event with the song "This
year in the rebuilt temple and Jerusalem" and with a deep
feeling that it is soon to come.

The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement will
continue with all their devotion to intensively conduct their
campaign to soon rebuild the temple and once again to make the
people of Israel a Biblical nation with a Biblical mission to
all the nations, to redeem the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and the
land of Israel in the same boundaries which G-d promised to
Israel in the eternal covenant which He made with them, to make
this covenant and the Word of G-d in the Tanach the foundation
of the life of Israel and all the world and to bring the G-d
of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob once again into the midst of the
life of the people of Israel and all the nations in Jerusalem on
Mt. Moriah. Everyone is called on to assist, to support,
encourage and be a part of this godly campaign which will open a
new godly era in the life of Israel and all the nations.

Bill to make rabbis salute state of Israel passes

Weekend News Today
By Andra Brack
Source: Ha'aretz

Thu Oct 21,1999 -- The Knesset yesterday passed Shinui MK Yosef
Lapid's private bill to amend the Rabbinical Judges Law in an
effort to require rabbinical judges, like their civil
counterparts, to declare allegiance to the State of Israel and
its laws. Twenty-one MKs voted against the bill, including two
ministers of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party, Religious Affairs
Minister Yitzhak Cohen and National Infrastructures Minister
Eliahu Suissa, along with another 13 Shas MKs. The other four
Shas MKs abstained. MKs from the National Religious Party (NRP)
walked out of the plenum and did not participate in the vote. In
presenting his bill, Lapid argued that rabbis are no different
from any other judge, because they are government employees. In
no country in the world, said Lapid, does there exist a
situation in which judges are not required to swear allegiance
to their country's laws.

New Indonesian boss is Israel-friendly

Thu Oct 21,1999 -- Indonesia's newly elected president, Abdur
Rahman Wahid, has visited Israel several times and is considered
an avid supporter of dialogue between his country and Israel,
although there are no diplomatic relations between the two
nations at present. Two years ago, Wahid participated in a Peres
Center event and visited the grave of Prime Minister Yitzhak
Rabin. He also underwent medical treatment in Israel. Wahid
heads a movement of Muslim intellectuals which supports
interreligious dialogue and religious moderation. At the
conference he attended in Israel, Wahid criticized terrorism and
said, "Islam is the religion of peace." Indonesia, the world's
largest Muslim nation, does not have diplomatic relations with
Israel, but the two countries hold ongoing talks through various
diplomatic channels and through representatives of the Mossad.
