Good Morning:
Herewith are two 'shorties' that might be of interest and, God willing, a
blessing, to someone. Praise the Lord!
God Bless you. Charlie Baker.

The Secret Place of the Most High
Charles Baker July,2000

Psalm 91:1-2

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under
the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him
will I trust."

I had been wondering, for some time, about the location of the secret
place of the Most High . I do not think God occupies any particular place,
at any time. He is everywhere, at the same time, all the time. Such were
my thoughts and then, early one morning, in January of this year, it came
to me that the expression, "the secret place" could be understood to mean a
place where secrets are kept. We know the Bible is the Word of God and we
know the Bible contains the 'secrets' God has seen fit to divulge to
mankind, so it is logical to conclude the Bible, itself, is "the secret
place" referred to in this scripture. The place where the secrets of God
are revealed, and available, to men. Praise the Lord!
We are told in Ephesians 6:14-17 to have our 'loins girt with truth',
which is the Word of God; to have our 'feet shod with the preparation of
the gospel of peace', which is part of the Bible and, to take 'the sword of
the Spirit, which is the word of God'. With such armor, training and
weaponry we can subdue all the forces of evil! Praise the Lord!
Last night it came to me that, while the Bible is the 'word of God', Jesus
Christ, Himself, is 'the word'. John 1:1-2 says: "In the beginning was
the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. The same was in
the beginning with God." This, I think, refers to Our Lord, Jesus Christ,
so that 'dwelling' "in the secret place of the most High", in addition to
my earlier thought, also means dwelling in Jesus Christ. We are to make
Him, the center of our existence. When we do so we can know we are abiding
"under the shadow of the Almighty" and, when we are under His shadow, we
can be sure that 'nothing can set on us to harm us'. The Lord will be our
refuge and our fortress and all we have to do is put our trust in Him.
Praise the Lord!

The 144,000 Virgins
Charles Baker - July, 2000

Revelation 14:1-5
"And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an
hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their
foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters,
and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers
harping with their harps: and they sung as it were a new song before the
throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn
that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed
from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they
are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.
These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to
the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without
fault before the throne of God."

I think the 144,000 are the 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel
that were sealed in Chapter 7. Here, we are told, they 'were not defiled
with women; for they are virgins'. I think, therefore, these are
Christian Jews and it is probable, since we are at the door of the rapture,
they are already, here, on earth. When someone accepts Jesus Christ as
their savior, confesses their sins and becomes a 'born-again' Christian,
that person becomes a 'virgin', in the eyes of God, and I think the 144,000
who are sealed are 144,000 Christian Jews. I think they will be sealed
before the opening of the first seal, of Revelation 6, and that they will
be given a special 'anointing', as Saul was anointed on the way to
Damascus. I think, too, the 'seal' will protect them from any harm, of any
kind. As Christians they are partakers of the promises given to believers
that they will not suffer any harm from the trial that is to come and God
does not break His promises. Praise the Lord!

We have no way of knowing where they are located, worldwide, but we can be
sure God does! We do know there are Jews in virtually every country of the
world so I think it is probable they will be found everywhere. God covers
all the bases! I think, too, that, as Christians, they will preach the
gospel 'to the Jew, first, and also to the gentile' and we are told, in
Chapter 7, that, as a result of their preaching, "a great multitude" will
stand "before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes,
and palms in their hands". This will be the first resurrection of the
Millennium and I think it will take place at the time of the Lord's return,
in glory.

The resurrection of the 'dead in Christ', which, I think, will precede the
last week of Daniel's 70th week, will be followed, immediately, by the
'rapture' of living believers so it is logical to place the 'rapture' of
the 144,000 at the time of the Lord's return, in glory, along with the
'first' resurrection of the millennium. The 144,000 will preach the gospel
of Jesus Christ - the same yesterday, and today, and forever - until His
return in glory!

Praise the Lord!

Subject: [BPR] - Unnatural aurora
From: bpr-list@philologos.org("Moza")

AN UNNATURAL AURORA
Auroras are colorful nighttime light shows that occur in the upper
atmosphere when conditions are right, but researchers can also
create artificial auroras to learn about the atmosphere. In the 3
July PRL a team describes a new way of using such an aurora to
illuminate the lower ionosphere--a layer that is difficult to
visualize by other means. They transmitted powerful radio waves
upward at night and took pictures as low-lying clouds of ionized
atoms glowed green in response. The technique will allow more
detailed observations of a turbulent and poorly understood
atmospheric layer that affects satellite and radio communications.

Subject: [BPR] - PLO to declare state Sept. 13; Barak threatens annexation
From: bpr-list@philologos.org("Moza")

PLO TO DECLARE STATE SEPT. 13; BARAK THREATENS ANNEXATION
The PLO Central Council decided last night to declare a Palestinian state
on Sept. 13. Prime Minister Barak said yesterday that if the Palestinian
Authority unilaterally declares a state, Israel will annex the areas in
Judea, Samaria, and Gaza (Yesha) planned for the settlement blocs. Justice
Minister Yossi Beilin said today that the Palestinians will gain nothing
from declaring a state that Israel does not recognize.

A senior PA official has called on the Islamic Jihad and Hamas to join
forces with the PA in anticipation of what he called "the final battle with
Israel." Imad Falouji, responsible for PA Communications, told reporters
last night that the battle will develop after Arafat's declaration of a
state. He said that there will be a war over Jerusalem, and predicted that
"no settler will be able to return to his home."

PA TO TERRORISTS "PREPARE FOR BATTLE WITH ISRAEL"
PA Official Imad Al Falouji on Monday called upon the Hamas and
Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations to prepare for an armed
conflict with Israel. Al Falouji added that this year, the
declaration of Palestinian statehood would become a reality,
indicating that the PA may declare its independence following the
September 13th deadline. "There will be a battle over Jerusalem.
Settlers will not be permitted to remain in their homes. Israel may
not
continue to occupy the West Bank," stated Al Falouji.

CASTRO 'DISAPPEARANCE' LEAVES CUBANS BAFFLED
Speculation was rife last night over why Fidel Castro has not been
seen in public since six-year-old Elian Gonzalez returned to Cuba
from America. The boy's reunion with his family in Havana was a
great propaganda coup for the 72-year-old Cuban leader but he has
been absent from the widespread celebrations.

REST OF WORLD SEEKS HEDGE TO U.S. POWER
While Americans prepare to rejoice in their prosperity and global
pre-eminence during the Fourth of July holiday Tuesday, a new
strategic study issued by one of Washington's most respected
foreign-policy analysts warned that "the rest of the world is not
joining in the celebration." Since the collapse of communism a
decade ago, "most of the world's other major powers have made it a
central theme of their foreign policy to build counterweights to
American power. This is, in fact, one of the main trends in
international politics today."

HOME SCHOOLERS DENIED ACCESS TO COLLEGE CLASSES
Kelly and Maureen Stone say they are not home-school crusaders.
They merely want their children and other home-schooled students to
have
the same access to free college-level classes as other public-school
students during their high-school years. The Stones are challenging a
1994 Department of Education opinion excluding home-schooled students
-
even those taking some public high school classes - from taking some
college-level courses at public expense.

U.S. MIDWEST STORMS CAUSE SOME FLOODING, OUTAGES
Severe thunderstorms that pounded parts of the U.S. Midwest caused
flash floods and left thousands of Wisconsin residents without
power, officials said on Monday. Nearly 5 inches of rain and 70
mph winds pummeled the Milwaukee area on Sunday night. Two trucks
were overturned, streets flooded, hundreds of power wires fell and
64,000 residents were without power early Monday morning, according to
various reports.

ISRAEL DISMISSES PALESTINIAN STATE PLAN
Israel's Prime Minister, Ehud Barak, has said a unilateral
Palestinian declaration of statehood would be "unacceptable". Mr
Barak was responding to the decision of the PLO Central Council on
Monday to back Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's plans to declare
a state this year with or without the agreement of Israel. The
Israelis have said they will annex settlement blocks in the West
Bank if the Palestinians go ahead with a unilateral declaration of
statehood. Such a development could set the peace process back by
years, if not destroy it completely.

"MOST OF WORLD WILL RECOGNIZE STATE OF PALESTINE"
Senior officials in the Foreign Ministry have indicated they
believe that most of the world will recognize a State of Palestine
after PLO Authority (PA) Chairman Arafat decides to make a formal
declaration of statehood. Senior ministry officials explain that
even if the PA makes a unilateral declaration of statehood, most of
the
world will recognize such a state, including the United Nations.

BARAK: ARAFAT NOT READY FOR PEACE
Prime Minister Ehud Barak said yesterday that he is not sure he has a
peace partner in the Palestinians, and hinted that if there is a
US-brokered summit it is unlikely to succeed. "I am not sure that I
have a partner who understands the opportunity that has been given to
us," Barak was quoted as saying in the Knesset Foreign Affairs and
Defense Committee.

BARAK MUST DECIDE QUICKLY ON PHALCON DEAL
Prime Minister Ehud Barak faces the toughest decision in his
administration and officials say he has to think fast. The
question: Should Barak submit to massive U.S. pressure to cancel
the sale of the Phalcon airborne early-warning system to China.
The deal is worth a lot of money. China is interested in four
Phalcons with each costing $250 million. Cancelling the deal will
be a huge blow to the system's manufacturer, Elta Electronics
Industries Ltd., a subsidiary of Israel Aircraft Industries.

12,000 DISPLACED AS TYPHOON HITS PHILIPPINES
One man was killed Tuesday and more than 12,000 people were
displaced as Typhoon Kirogi and a lesser storm combined to cause
extensive flooding in the northern third of the Philippines,
including Manila, officials said. The lone fatality drowned in the
swollen Napindan river east of Manila before dawn, the civil defense
office here said. Extensive flooding forced about 12,000 people to
abandon their homes in the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa and Orani
northwest of Manila, said Felicito Payumo, the administrator of the
adjacent free port of Subic Bay.

THE BURDEN OF THE CROSS IN INDIA
A sleeping priest was beaten to death with pump handles in Uttar
Pradesh state. A Christian graveyard was dug up in Andhra Pradesh
and the tombstones smashed. A missionary distributing Bibles in
Gujarat was seized and the books burned. On one day, bombs exploded in
four churches across different states. From petty harassment to
premeditated murder, Christian clergy and activists, institutions and
symbols are under new assault by militant Hindus across India. With
more
than 30 incidents reported in the past several months, church leaders
say the pattern has gained unprecedented breadth and momentum.
