Hi,
This discussion has some interest to me also.

The repeated 12 in Revelation in respect to the people of God is very interesting.

Note the dimensions of the new Jerusalem: Presumably a cube, thus having 12 edges each of 12,000 stadia.

12x12,000 = 144,000

144,000 is therefore the external dimensions of the Bride of Christ, the New Jerusalem.

What does this mean for interpreting Rev 7 & 14:1-5?

Dear Charles Baker,

Thank you for your posting on the Lamb's wife. So much of people's
interest seem to be fixed on earthly things, but you are seeking the
truth of heavenly things.

Col. 3:1-4
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] Set your affection
on things above, not on things on the earth. [3] For ye are dead, and
your life is hid with Christ in God. [4] When Christ, who is our life,
shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

I just speculate on how things will be, yet I sense that we are these
individual stones of the New Jerusalem and perhaps a permanent memorial
as you mention.

1 Peter 2:3-5
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. [4] To whom coming,
as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and
precious, [5] Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual
house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable
to God by Jesus Christ.

Your last paragraph has many 'twelves' describing the "Bride". I have
appreciated your comments to me on my articles to BPR. I wrote in Number
Patterns in Scripture
http://philologos.org/bpr/files/Misc_Studies/ms028.htm, of all the
twelves that describe God's Bride. I quote from my article:

"We also see the Bride adorned with 12 stars, the New Jerusalem with 12
gates, 12 angels, 12 tribes, 12,000 of each tribe, 12 foundations, 12
apostles, 12 pearls, 12 stones, 12,000 furlongs on 3 dimensions (this is
lost in some translations and found in KJV), 12 fruits of the tree of
life, 144 cubits the measure of the wall--12 things in all marking again
the female, the Bride. No restraint of a number pattern here--by now we
should understand God's number language."

Deuteronomy 33:24 - Of Asher he said, ""More blessed than sons is Asher; May he be favored by his brothers, And may he dip his foot in oil.

Interestingly, the tribe of Asher lived in a territory that was shaped like a foot along the west side of Israel. The 'toe' of this territory was near the city of Dor. Dor was located about halfway between modern-day Haifa and Hadera near the Mediterranean Sea. Watch this area.

Gas find gives Palestinians new hope

Israel being cooperative about offshore find vital for future state

Special report: Israel and the Middle East

Suzanne Goldenberg in Gaza Tuesday September 26, 2000

A giant, British-operated drilling rig anchored 19 miles off the crowded and rubbish-strewn shores of the Gaza strip has tapped into a potential bonanza: gas fields that could turn the future Palestinian state into a key Israeli energy supplier. The reserves, discovered last week by BG International (formerly British Gas) during the first exploration of Palestinian Authority waters, offer the first real hope of economic independence for a largely impoverished people who stand on the brink of statehood.

The find follows good news for Israel too. BG found gas reserves in the country's territorial waters earlier this year - a stunning discovery for a state with no fuel of its own, and which has been formally boycotted for years by Arab oil producers.

"At the end of the day, it is still the Holy Land, the land of miracles," said Hugh Miller, who heads BG's operations in Israel and the Palestinian Authority. "People said for years and years, there was no potential here, and now it looks like there is."

However, fulfilling that potential may require another miracle: the two sides would have to overcome the old hostilities that have deadlocked the peace process, and navigate legally uncharted waters concerning the Palestinians' rights to offshore resources in the absence of a state.

But, for now, economic exigencies are forcing a rare spirit of cooperation; before the gas reserves can begin to flow a $1bn investment in pumping stations and pipelines will be required - a burden neither side wants to shoulder on its own.

So far, Israel appears inclined to play along. The prime minister, Ehud Barak, ordered the navy not to interfere with the drilling off Gaza, and Israeli officials seem prepared to recognise that, even without a full state, the gas belongs to the Palestinians by default.

"It is not as complicated as it might sound," Israel's oil commissioner, Yehezkeel Druckman, said. "The Palestinian Authority is not yet an independent nation, and therefore it does not have the rights that other nations have to explore the waters, but then neither does Israel ... But the main thing is that it is assumed that the Palestinians will have a state, and therefore will have these rights."

Not everyone in Israel is happy with that assumption. Local energy companies are suing in Israeli courts to stop the drilling, and leaders of the rightwing Likud party have accused Mr Barak of handing over Israeli riches.

If Mr Barak's minority government falls - and it is hanging by a thread - a new prime minister could slam shut the door on BG's exploration off Gaza, or engage in protracted wrangling regarding the poorly demarcated line between Israeli and Palestinian waters.

Preliminary estimates of the gas reserves indicate there is 25bn cubic-metre deposit in Gazan waters, and 50bn cubic metres in the four wells BG has drilled off the Israeli port of Ashqelon. Gaza's share of the field is believed to contain far more gas than the Palestinians can absorb, which means that the state-in-the-making could become a fuel supplier to Israel, whose electricity demands are growing by 7% a year.

That appears to suit the Palestinians, who say they are approaching statehood as hostages to their wealthier and more powerful neighbour; Israel can cut off all Palestine's imports by closing border crossings, make the taps run dry in their homes, dim the lights in their offices, and interfere with telephone and internet services.

Local gas would bring a welcome sense of independence.

"This is a situation that could really lift up the Palestinian economy," said Mohammed Shtayyeh, director of the Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction. "If Palestine is independent, and if there is gas and other oil products generated in Palestine, then we will no longer be hostage to the Israeli problem of oil prices and oil shortages."

Speaking for security
------------------------------

Your word is not your bond, it's your credit limit

By BBC News Online internet reporter Mark Ward
Soon, before you can spend or shop, you might have to speak into your smartcard.

A small UK company has created a speech recognition system that can fit comfortably on a smartcard and do its job using nothing more than the humble processing power of the chip on the card.

By putting the speech recognition on a smartcard, the company hopes to make it safer to use the cards online and off.

The technology might also be used in mobile phones, making pressing buttons a relic of the past.

It has been developed by Swindon-based Domain Dynamics and takes a novel approach to speech recognition.

Chip chops

Many PC-based speech recognition systems rely on the processing power of a computer to analyse a long data stream generated as a user speaks.

The computer samples the speech stream thousands of times a second and then analyses the data to reveal where words begin and end, and the variations within them, to extract the sense of what is being said.

By contrast, the Domain Dynamics technology only takes note when the parts of speech such as phonemes and syllables start and stop.

By cutting spoken language into its elements and noticing how these elements change as they are spoken, Domain Dynamics has found that speech breaks down into 29 distinctive components.

The record of each component takes up far less storage space than the speech sound it represents.

By combining these components, Domain Dynamics can deconstruct and recreate any spoken word or phrase. This is turned into a speech recognition system using a chip called a digital signal processor that chops the sounds into their distinctive components.

Security device

Now Domain Dynamics has squeezed this recognition system on to a smartcard with only 8 kilobytes of memory. The speech system takes up a tiny 3.6 kilobytes of space, leaving room for other programs.

This cut-down system can recognise a few words or phrases and is intended to be used as an extra security measure for credit cards wherever they are used.

"You can check if a card is valid and that an owner is not in trouble with their bank," said Martin George, sales manager at Domain Dynamics, "But that does nothing to verify that the person with that card is the rightful owner."

Because the smartcard stores only the components spoken by the owner, Domain Dynamics claims it is far harder for criminals to extract them and pose as the bearer of the card.

Mr George said Domain Dynamics was talking to mobile phone handset makers on ways to install the system into the SIM cards that told a phone who owned it and stored phone numbers and text messages.

Eventually, he said, phones might become little more than lapel badges that people speak in to without the need to press any buttons.

Subject: [BPR] - Religious sect plans to clone human baby

Religious sect plans to clone human baby

Members believe it is first step to eternal life

Mary Vallis
National Post

A biotechnology company established by a religious sect that claims it was founded by aliens says it will begin cloning a human baby next month.

The Raelian Movement, a 50,000-member religion that believes human cloning is the first step toward eternal life, has found a set of parents in the United States willing to pay up to US$2-million to have their baby cloned.

The group says the couple's 10-month-old baby died at a hospital in the United States. Blood samples taken before the baby died will provide the necessary DNA for the procedure.

The movement's biotechnology company, Valiant Venture Ltd., claims to be the first company to offer human cloning. For US$50,000, it says it will take a sample of a live child's cells and store them so they can be cloned if the child dies.

The company intends to charge an additional US$200,000 for the actual cloning.

No mother on Earth wants to lose a child, said Rael, the Quebec-based spiritual leader of the movement. "There is a possibility, due to any kind of accident or disease, to have this child back. You cannot find a mother in the world who will not use this technique to have him back."

Dr. Patricia Baird, who chaired Canada's Royal Commission on Reproductive Technologies in 1993, issued a strongly worded statement against the scheme.

"What is the motivation for trying to take a cell from a dead child and resurrect that into a physical copy of that child?" she said.

"It's disrespectful to the individuality of that human being. Cloning does not copy all the kinds of attributes of human beings that we value. It copies certain genetic ones, but not the ones that are important in terms of personal interaction -- like whether they are happy -- which are determined by environmental input."

The process would also do psychological harm to the cloned individual, whose sole purpose would be to recreate another person's image -- not to mention the medical concerns, Dr. Baird added.

"It raises so many social and ethical questions of harm that it raises the need -- again -- for regulation internationally to deal with the issues surrounding human cloning," Dr. Baird said.

Canada has a moratorium on human cloning.

The company is establishing a laboratory at an undisclosed location in the United States, where there is no federal legislation, and in many cases no state laws, outlawing human cloning.

Fifty Raelian women from around the world have offered to be the clone's surrogate mother.

The company has received hundreds of calls from parents asking about the service, including inquiries from homosexual couples who want a child cloned from one partner's DNA, said scientific director Dr. Brigitte Boisselier.

According to the Raelians, humanity was created in laboratories by extraterrestrials whose name is mistranslated by the word "God."

They say Jesus's resurrection was in fact a cloning performed by the aliens.

Their leader said human cloning is the first step to an accelerated growth process that would allow adults to transfer their memories and personalities into a new body.

Rael said no pressure is put on families interested in the cloning services to join the movement.

The company will also offer its services for deceased pets when its work gets underway in October.

The group expects the first cloned baby to be born by Christmas 2001.

Clonaid receives overwhelming response

Web posted Sep. 25 at 02:28 PM

Associated Press

LAS VEGAS -- The following release was issued today by Clonaid:

Clonaid, the first Biotech company to offer human cloning, got funding last
month for the cloning of a baby who died at the age of 10 months.

Since that announcement was made, Clonaid has received a large number of
requests from parents who have lost a child.

A hotline is now available to help parents who would like to know how to
preserve the cells of their dying or dead child. To access our specialists, they
can call 1-617-328-6130 or email at helpclonaid.com .

Dr. Boisselier, scientific director, declared: "We are so happy to see this
public response after so many negative reactions from the establishment. Our
hope at Clonaid is for parents to think about preserving the cells of their
beloved ones before they die to make our task of cloning their child easier.
Rael, founder of Clonaid and spiritual leader of the Raelian Religion, was the
first one to announce that human cloning was inevitable, 27 years ago."

He was also the first one to tell his followers, raelians, to have one of
their bones preserved after their death, foreseeing the time when we would
be able to recreate human beings using a single cell. As he wrote in his
bestseller, The True Face of God: "Now is no longer a time to believe, it's a
time to understand."

ISRAEL SAYS U.N. SHOULD TAKE OVER TEMPLE MOUNT
The government of Israel is strenuously promoting an idea once
unthinkable: entrusting Judaism's holiest site to United Nations
control. The acting foreign minister, Shlomo Ben Ami, leaves for
Cairo today, where he is to sound out Egypt's president, Hosni
Mubarak, on a proposal to transfer sovereignty of the Temple Mount,
or Haram al-Sharif - 86 hectares of hallowed ground on the most
fiercely contested hilltop in the Middle East - to the supervision of
the five permanent members of the UN security council.

ROW LOOMS OVER MID-EAST WATER
Turkey has said that because of a serious drought it cannot give
Syria as much water as it wants from the rivers which the two
countries share. After one of the driest summers for many years water
levels in Turkish dams are at dangerously low levels. Under an
informal agreement between the two countries, Syria is supposed to
receive 500 cubic metres of water per second, but this month the
average flow has been less than one-third of that amount and next
month it could be even lower. Syria, and its neighbour Iraq, blame
Turkey's huge network of dams on the Tigris and the Euphrates for
threatening their water supplies.

Iraq's president wanted a Koran with a difference
President Saddam Hussein has taken delivery of a copy of the Koran
written using his own blood.

Iraqi TV and newspapers reported that the Iraqi leader had the volume
produced in thanks to God for bringing him safely through many
"conspiracies and dangers" in his long political career.

"My life has been full of dangers in which I should have lost a lot
of blood...but since I have bled only a little, I asked somebody to
write God's words with my blood in gratitude," President Saddam
Hussein said in a letter published in the official media.

The special-edition volume was handed over at a ceremony at the
weekend.

Three years in the writing

The Iraqi leader commissioned the work three years ago on his 60th
birthday.

Press and TV reports gave no indication of how much blood he had
provided for the team of calligraphers who produced the work.

But a senior Iraqi official suggested the amount was considerable,
given that the Muslim holy book comprises over 6,000 verses and some
336,000 words.

To our readers, this message was originally mailed yesterday. Due to technical difficulties, not everyone received it. If you have already received it, we apologize for this inconvenience. Best wishes for a happy and blessed New Year.

------------------------------------------

The First Day of Creation:
A Message for the New Year
from the Temple Institute

According to Jewish tradition, today, the 25th day of the Hebrew month of Elul, is the first day of creation…the day that G-d brought forth the heavens and the earth into existence. Rosh Hashanah, the New Year that we will observe at the end of this week, is the anniversary of the creation of man, thus the birthday of all humanity. But the creation of man was the last act, the finishing touch of the creation process, which actually began today.

In recognition of the importance of this day, a united call has been issued for special prayers to be recited today all throughout Israel. These prayers are scheduled to take place simultaneously today at the Western Wall, Rachel´s Tomb, the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron, and at other holy sites throughout the Land. Contrary to the recklessness and frivolity with which many others usher in the “new year,” the Jewish people see the beginning of a new year as a time of intense introspection and repentance…of taking responsibility for what we have done thus far with G-d´s creation, and especially with the crown of that creation… ourselves. For today is literally the first day.

Thus today, the 25th of Elul, gives us an excellent opportunity to reflect upon that creation, and the state it is in now. We can begin by recalling the very foundation and purpose of creation. The Talmud teaches that “the Holy One, blessed be He, contemplated the Holy Temple before creation.” Thus the Holy Temple is concealed in the plans of the foundation of the world, and was a factor in the Divine plan of creation…the anticipation of its eventual establishment even preceded creation.

The Holy Temple in Jerusalem represents the apex of human longing: the ability for man to engage in a direct relationship with G-d. The world awaits the day when the Temple in Jerusalem will once again be the global center of spiritual values. At this one spot on earth, unlike any other, it will be revealed to all that “G-d is one and His name is one” (Zechariah 14:9). The prophets teach that in the future, all will converge upon Jerusalem to receive the truth of Torah and to return to the way of G-d in sincere repentance. It is in the Holy Temple that mankind will merit to the higher consciousness that will be revealed at that time: the spirit of Divine Inspiration.

How ironic that Jerusalem today, on this eve of a new beginning, seems bewildered and confused (Esther 3:15); an entire city suffering from an “identity crisis.” Who will claim her identity? What does the future hold for her? Contacts between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators continue; American pressure has Israel rushing to make more and more concessions “while a small window of opportunity is still open.” What kind of peace is it, can someone tell us, if it has to be rushed through a small window, quickly, furtively, while no one has time to examine its details or object to its content?

The media has carried many ideas regarding the possible future of the Temple Mount, ranging from UN sovereignty, to a confederated Moslem sovereignty headed by Arafat, to allowing the Temple Mount to remain under “G-d´s sovereignty.” This last idea, an arrogant one coming from people who do not act like they are thinking much about G-d, is a code for leaving things exactly as they are. None of the ideas we have heard, apparently being considered by the “peacemakers,” calls for Israeli sovereignty; on the contrary, they vary only in the degree that Israel must relinquish her own claims. Indeed, regarding the Temple Mount, Israel is never mentioned as having any rights at all. Minister Yossi Beillin has said that “all that is needed now is just a search for the right adjective” of what to call the Temple Mount. Although Prime Minister Barak gave a beautiful speech at the conclusion of the “failed” Camp David accords wherein he declared that he would never give up on “the holy places of Israel,” the true extent of just how much he is willing to concede in Jerusalem has already become public knowledge. But if the negotiators have already had the audacity to cynically bring G-d into the picture by deigning to consider offering Him the sovereignty over this place (as if He needs them to give it to Him), perhaps they should really consider G-d´s take on the situation.

One need not look very far. Anyone who has been following the weekly Torah readings lately would know that as far as the G-d of Israel is concerned, Jerusalem has no identity crises and no uncertain future.

In the haftorah/prophetic portion that was recited this past Sabbath, we read:

“For the sake of Zion I will not hold my peace, and for the sake of Jerusalem, I will not be still, until her righteousness goes forth like radiance, and her salvation like a burning torch. And the nations shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory… You shall be a crown of glory in the hand of the L-rd… You shall no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall your land be termed any more Desolate, but you shall be called “My delight is in her” and your land, “Espoused…”

“I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who shall never hold their peace day or night; you that make mention of the L-rd, take no rest, and give Him no rest till He establishes, and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth…”

“The L-rd has sworn by His right hand, and by the arm of His strength, Surely I will no more give your corn to be food for your enemies, And the sons of the stranger shall not drink your wine for which you have labored, But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the L-rd; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of My sanctuary…”

“And they shall call them, the holy people, the redeemed of the L-rd; and you shall be called, Sought Out, a city not forsaken.”

(Isaiah 61-62)

Today has even more significance…as if being the first day of creation were not distinction enough. The book of Nehemiah testifies that today, on the 25th day of Elul, after 52 years of labor, the wall which the prophet Nehemiah built around the city of Jerusalem was finished. This was a day of great rejoicing for Israel. When Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian exile and found the city in ruins its walls breached and its gates scorched with fire he instructed the people to rebuild. Judah´s enemies were very angry and tried to disrupt the building and cause confusion in Jerusalem by fighting against her. But instead of weakening, the men of Jerusalem prayed to G-d and also appointed watchmen by day and night. “And the builders of the walls were girded with swords; one hand was occupied with work and the other held the sword.”

Thus, “when all of our enemies heard, and all of the nations in our environs saw, they were very crestfallen, and they knew that this labor was accomplished through our G-d.”

There is a parallel between the two themes expressed by this day: the beginning of creation and the completion of Jerusalem´s wall by Nehemiah. Man, the crowning achievement of the Divine plan, was preceded by the rest of creation. The Holy Temple, apex of mankind´s spiritual fulfillment and hope, was preceded by the wall around Jerusalem…in each equation, the first stage was today. The wall of Jerusalem to the Temple, is the beginning of creation to man.

With best wishes of Shana Tova, a good year to all our readers. May this be a year of Divine blessing for you, and for Jerusalem and all who love her.

SHARON TO TEMPLE MOUNT

Opposition leader Ariel Sharon is determined, despite Palestinian
warnings, to ascend to the Temple Mount this Thursday afternoon. Likud
MK Ruby Rivlin said that he would accompany Sharon, even if the police
ask them not to carry out the visit - "which they would never dare to
do. Can you imagine a situation in which an Israeli is not permitted
onto an Israeli-sovereign site?" Palestinian sources say that the visit
will "not pass quietly," and that they may even attempt to prevent it.

Meanwhile, the Palestinians are stepping up their Temple-denial
campaign. "The Israelis claim that under the mosques is the Holy
Temple," Palestinian 'Information Minister' Yasser Abed Rabbo told the
French newspaper Le Monde yesterday. "From an archaeological
standpoint, I am convinced that there never was a Temple [there]. They
have dug out one tunnel after another, and have found nothing. And even
if there was a Temple there, is anyone permitted to use a history of
3,000 years to claim [sovereignty]?" The First Temple was built by King
Solomon some 2,850 years ago, and the Second Temple was destroyed by the
Romans 1,930 years ago.

Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Yigal Amedi (Likud) was asked by Arutz-7's Haggai
Segal today why "we don't see the municipality as a body fighting
against the threats hovering over the city." Amedi responded, "I can
reassure you [in this connection] that we are very lucky to have, at
this critical juncture, a mayor such as Ehud Olmert... We are closely
tracking all the developments, but we don't have to scream and sit in
protest tents, but rather do the work more thoroughly and deeply. We
are working together with other nearby localities, etc."

Segal did not let up: "For instance, other endangered localities have
established organizations: the Golan has the Golan Residents Committee,
and Judea and Samaria has the Yesha Council. But in Jerusalem we don't
hear anything…" Amedi: "On Sukkot, for instance, we will have a major
campaign bringing many people to see the city and to see what is at
stake here... You can rest assured that we are doing everything that
has to be done..."

P.A. TEXTBOOK: "ISRAEL MUST BE DESTROYED"

Fifteen newly-printed Palestinian text books still define Israel as a
"conquering state," and one - a sixth-grade book originally published in
1965, which has been printed again and again since then with barely any
changes - even states, "There is no alternative other than to destroy
Israel." One or more of the books mention Jaffa and Acre as occupied
lands that must be recovered, while Jews are mentioned as a target of
Islamic scorn.

Media research analyst David Bedein reports that although the Anti-
Defamation League demanded last year that the PA institute a more
Israel- friendly curriculum, Director Abraham Foxman met with Yasser
Arafat last week and did not register a complaint about the new books.
The meeting was described by Yediot Acharonot as "a lively discussion of
the peace process," but, according to participants, Palestinian
education was not mentioned. After the meeting, Foxman - who did not
review the new text books - handed Arafat a letter stating, "We are
encouraged by reports that the new textbooks do not have incendiary
anti-Israel or anti-Jewish passages. However, we are disappointed that
the textbooks appear to do nothing to... promote tolerance between
Palestinians and Israelis." Bedein questions why the ADL relies on
false "reports," and did not investigate the books first-hand. He also
notes that the annual ADL-funded survey of worldwide anti-Semitism is
devoid of a study of the Palestinian Authority schoolbooks, and that the
ADL website section on PA anti-Semitism has not been updated in two
years.

Bedein further notes that Meimad leaders issued an ultimatum to Prime
Minister Barak two months ago, threatening to quit the coalition if
Arafat and the Palestinian Authority do not cease the incitement
emanating from their official media and school system. Since then, "the
consistent incitement of Arafat's official media and schools has only
increased... [as] has been dutifully reported by Palestinian Media
Watch," reports Bedein, yet Meimad is still in the government and its
leaders have not responded to questions from journalists as to the fate
of the ultimatum.

What´s at Babylon?

Since April 1996, the restored historical city of Babylon, Iraq has been designated as a restricted area by Iraqi officials due to a reported burglary at the Babylon Museum. Even though all artifacts were reportedly removed from the area to Baghdad, guards armed with machine guns have still been shown to be stationed in Babylon on an Iraqi newscast.

As of September 2000, it appears that Babylon is once more open to the public. It was reported in a September 23, 2000 Denver Post article titled, ‘France denies Iraq flight broke embargo´ that:

“A French charter flight carrying athletes, doctors and artists flew to Baghdad on Friday, drawing a protest from the United States that France was breaking the U.N. embargo against Iraq. An Iraqi Olympic Committee official, Hussein Saeed, welcomed the French group, saying they had taken “a big initiative in breaking the embargo” imposed on Iraq for its 1990 invasion of Kuwait. The artists intend to perform at the Babylon International Festival, a cultural event that began Friday night.”

According to Bible prophecies found in Jeremiah Chapters 50 and 51, Babylon, Iraq is destined to be destroyed by a great confederation of nations in these last days. The description of the destructive power that will be unleashed does not harmonize with Babylon being only a restored archaeological site reserved for festivals and tourists. There is a great threat hidden underneath Babylon, in our opinion, that will justify the nation´s decision to utilize weapons of mass destruction against this apparently harmless parcel of land.

Saddam Hussein has a history of building underground complexes and concealing things in or near archaeological sites. The massive amounts of construction performed at Babylon over the years presented the perfect opportunity to construct covert architecture within and under the city. The reported burglary at Babylon in 1996, provided a convenient excuse for curtailing local visitors to Babylon over the past four years and for explaining the necessity of posting heavily armed guards. This could have ideally provided Iraq with the time and facilities needed to further develop and produce weapons forbidden by the United Nations.

The breaking of the United Nation´s flight embargo to Iraq by France (and now by Russia), “appears” to be a devastating underminement of the efforts of those installing the New World Order. That visitors on the French flight were destined to go to the Babylon International Festival is significant in two ways. Number one is that the first act of defiance to the UN. by a permanent security council member included a contingent destined to participate in celebrating the very Babylon which is prophesied to soon be destroyed by the nations. Then secondly is that Saddam Hussein is once again trying to portray the city of Babylon to the world as a haven of historical treasures made available for everyone to cherish and share.

An article from the September 19, 2000 Colorado Springs Gazette, which headlined, ‘UN wants tips on Iraqi weaponry´ made us consider the likelihood that the U.N. does in fact already know the location of Iraq´s hidden weapons at Babylon by its peculiar omission of expressing a desire to consult with German intelligence agencies. As we shared in our message ‘The Thief of Baghdad at Babylon´ at: www.rapturewatch.com/thiefofbagat.html, German newspapers reported in March of 1998, that Saddam Hussein has in fact hidden a large supply of nerve gas and biological weapons beneath the ruins of ancient Babylon. Quoting from this Rapture Watch message we read:

“Understand this, Babylon, Iraq is not just some little way stop consisting of a museum and some walls, but is a sprawling complex consisting of such things as the rebuilt southern palace of Nebuchadnezzar, large fenced in areas, temples and buildings, including a reconstructed Greek theatre, which seats four thousand people (The Rise of Babylon by Charles Dyer).

Without reservation, this ministry and a small number of other prophecy teachers have maintained that according to the Bible prophecies found in Jeremiah Chapters 50 and 51, Babylon will, in the near future, be destroyed completely. Jeremiah 51:61-62 clearly teach that the prophesied desolation is for the literal, geographical city of Babylon - which is in modern-day Iraq. A break in the hostilities, with an offer of healing, is prophesied to fail according to Jeremiah 51:8-9.

A news report from Jerusalem titled, ‘Saddam Hiding Bio-Weapons under Babylon?´ dated March 9, 1998, is interestingly related to our subject. German newspapers this week published new disclosures on Iraq´s military capabilities. The Daily Bild reported that Saddam Hussein has a hidden supply of nerve gas and biological weapons beneath the ruins of ancient Babylon, on the assumption that the United States would not dare to bomb the archaeological and historical site.” Keep in mind that intelligence agencies such as the Mossad of Israel and the CIA monitor news reports such as this on a daily basis and evaluate their merit.

We submit that what the U.N. arms inspectors are looking for will be found at Babylon, Iraq. This is what we have stated in the past by understanding of the Scriptures and this is what we continue to unwaveringly maintain.”

In the Colorado Springs Gazette article of September 19, 2000, which headlined ‘UN wants tips on Iraqi weaponry´ it was stated that:

“The chief U.N. weapons inspector for Iraq wants foreign governments to contribute intelligence reports on suspected weapons of mass destruction, but his team will not reciprocate by conducting surveillance or sharing information. Hans Blix, head of the U.N. Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission, said at a news conference Monday that he wants to work with intelligence agencies in the United States, Britain, France Russia and Israel. But he said such exchanges would be “one-way traffic.” “If they find a spot, or think they have strong evidence that weapons with mass destructive capabilities are hidden somewhere, it is in their own interest to tell us,” Blix said.”

It would appear that sound reasoning would be at work for why Germany and its reports on Babylon would not be mentioned since Saddam Hussein would only relocate his prohibited weaponry. While examining the big picture for Iraq in light of Bible prophecy it is of added interest to consider a possible ulterior motive for France and Russia undermining their own U.N. Security Council resolution barring flights to Iraq. It is true that Iraq owes France and Russia a great deal of money, but it is nothing to compare with the incredible oil wealth that would end up being distributed to the countries that would share in a dissolution of the Saddam Hussein regime into an internationally partitioned Iraq. If this proves true, then the French and Russian support and encouragement would be part of an inescapable trap. The question that remains is whether or not Bible prophecy supports that such undertakings might be afoot.

Jeremiah 50:10 tells us that “All who plunder her [Iraq] shall be satisfied.” Jeremiah 50:23-24 tell us that “a snare” will be laid for Iraq and that Babylon will “have indeed been trapped.” Then thirdly in Jeremiah 51:27, we are told that among “the nations against her [Iraq], call the kingdoms together...[of] Ararat, Minni and Ashchenaz.”

This would include the region we now know as Russia - this is the same Russia which is encouraging Iraq at present to defy and undermine the United Nations Security Council, which Russia and France are two of its only five permanent members. This most certainly in our opinion has all the makings of a trap. Time will soon tell.

In closing we will quote once again from our message ‘The Thief of Baghdad at Babylon´.

“The thing to remember is that God´s Word never fails. When God says that Babylon, Iraq will be uninhabitable, it will be uninhabitable (Jeremiah 51:61-62). When God says that there will be a fire burning in Babylon that the nations will not be able to extinguish, then we had better believe such a fire will be kindled (Jeremiah 51:58). And when God says that anyone who does not turn to His Son Jesus Christ for forgiveness will perish in a place of eternal torment, then we are well to become wise to the fact that such a judgement in such a place truly exists (Matthew 24:31-46 and John 14:1-9). Today is the day to come to the Lord Jesus Christ to receive the forgiveness that is available to any believer who will ask it of Him.”

The coming of the Lord is near - don´t put it off!

Your brother and friend in Christ,
Jamma
