Today, I am interested in more than the superficial information about the
word "PHARAOH" given in my bible dictionaries.

How did this word originate? When was it first used and by whom? What
is its history? And what does it mean? Is it "strictly" an Egyptian
word?

Does it simply mean "Great House?, " or what else have modern researchers
discovered or "suspect" about the history and meaning of surrounding this
word?

Subject: [bprlist] Fear of Pestilence in UK
From: Stafford's Mail <simmonds@freeuk.com>
Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 11:09:47 GMT

Hos 4:3 Therefore the land will mourn;
And everyone who dwells there will waste away
With the beasts of the field
And the birds of the air;
Even the fish of the sea will be taken away. NKJV

Shalom dear friends

You will be aware that the UK is experiencing foot and mouth disease.
It is a virulent and fatal pestilence which affects cattle and sheep
and is spread by contact and is also airborne. The most prevalent word
in the media nowadays, in this context, is 'fear'. Farmers are
desperately afraid that their stock will be the next to go. It also is
likely that many farmers and associated concerns will be put
out of business with little hope of any real compensation except for
animals which have to be killed.

The above verse seems to apply to us in these days. With the
Europeans now taking most of the fishing rights in our waters
the last line also seems appropriate.

Pray that God will awaken the people to their need of Him.

Blessings Stafford
=====================================================
From Dr. Lysbeth Duncan in Scotland the following thoughts.

Foot & Mouth disease
Despite what the
media is reporting.... UK has been free of foot & mouth disease for >20
years .... Therefore
A it MUST HAVE COME IN FROM OUTSIDE:
1. From Europe? - Greece had F&M disease a year ago
2. from somewhere else ... S Africa is being blamed (not confirmed)
B. How?
1. ? with food stuff
2. ? deliberately ???? Yesterday some of us were talking about it here
and independently we had all thought this was likely ...

If this is right ... the obvious place to introduce it would be to a
"dirty farm" where it would be unnoticed for some time until it had
taken hold well ...

We should IMMEDIATELY have instituted a sharp very strict quarantine
until the full extent - in situ - was known; have stopped all animal, mal
transport INCLUDING RACE HORSES; have stopped importing all meat, hide,
and other animal products [from EUROPE and elsewhere] and placed an
immediate ban on all access to all farms, with disinfectant baths for
essential access only [fire, ambulance, police]; closed all footpaths
and rights of way--

Look at a few scriptures :
Hosea 4 1-3 (and to the rest of the chapter - ch 5 v 4 for the full
context)
Lev 26 1-22 , & 32
Deut 28 1-18, &
Malachi 3 6-12 ... which has a related theme ...

I believe that they are linked

Blessings

Lysbeth Dr M E Duncan <meduncan@freeuk.com>

1. Labor approves joining Sharon coalition
(BNI-FEB.27) In what may have been an unprecedented stormy Labor Party
Central Committee meeting on Monday, the party officials voted to approve
Labor=92s participation in a national unity coalition government headed by
Prime Minister-elect Ariel Sharon.

To the dismay of Shimon Peres and Sharon, the committee members also
voted
not to relinquish their authority regarding the selection process for
Labor ministers to serve under Sharon. The Central Committee will decide
which party personalities will serve as ministers and in what position,
taking the decision-making process away from party leaders as has been
customary. In addition, incoming Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will not have
any say as to who will serve in what ministerial portfolio regarding Labor
ministers.

The meeting, held in the Cinerama in Tel Aviv, was labeled as the
stormiest in the party=92s history. Senior party official and statesman
Shimon Peres lost control of the meeting, shouting at Foreign Minister
Shlomo Ben-Ami and other party opponents.

Veteran party member and cabinet minister Haim Ramon found his was
unable
to address the forum for several minutes while opponents over shouted him
with shouts of =93traitor=94 and =93go home!=94 referring to Ramon=92s stau=
nch
opposition and condemnation of outgoing party leader and Prime Minister,
Ehud Barak.

Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg and Ben-Ami led the opposition, working to
persuade the committee to oppose the party=92s inclusion in a coalition wit=
h
Sharon while Peres and Ramon succeeded in winning support for joining the
forming government.

Ramon told the assembly that he was taking his name out as a contender to
serve as a minister in the new government but would continue to do his
utmost for the betterment of the party, government and state. He stated he
was serving as a personnel example while other party officials were
engaged in =93War of Gog and Magog=94.

Deputy Minister of Defense Ephraim Sneh called upon the committee to
decide the cabinet ministries, working against Shimon Peres who wished to
maintain the current system, permitting party leaders to assign the
portfolios as in the past. The participants eventually accepted Sneh=92s
position.

Later in the week, the committee will once again convene to begin the
selection process for the cabinet portfolios to serve in a Sharon
government.

2. 52-year-old man victim of terrorist attack
(BNI-FEB.27) Police are now reporting that a 52-year-old man whose body
was found in an orchard on Monday was the victim of a terrorist attack.

The body was discovered in Hagor orchard on Monday. Police first believed
the dead man, a resident of Rishon L=92Tzion, was the victim of a work
accident. Additional investigation revealed the man had been shot in his
neck and chest. Police now believe the murder was nationalistically
motivated.

The body of the deceased has been transported to the Abu Kabir Forensic
Institute.

                                ++++
3. Tel Aviv police uncover stolen holy artifacts
(BNI-FEB.27) Tel Aviv area police during the night recovered 2 million
dollars worth of holy artifacts stolen from locations in Israel and the
United States. The report did not specify if Torah scrolls were among the
recovered objects. Police have not released additional information at this
time but did indicate, =93This was not the end of the story or
investigation.=94

                                ++++
4. IDF: Israel Radio reports untrue
(BNI-FEB.27) Israel Radio on Tuesday morning reported several times that
last night was the first night in five months that there were no shooting
attacks in Gaza.

The Office of the IDF Spokesman released a statement on Tuesday morning
listing the attacks in Gaza during the night, discarding the Israel Radio
report. According to IDF officials, there were five attacks in Gaza during
the night.

Soldiers stationed at the Erez Checkpoint were attacked by gunfire on two
separate occasions, two attacks near the community of Dugit, and one
attack in the Gush Katif area. There were no casualties to IDF forces in
any of the attacks. Soldiers returned fire.

                                ++++

5. Rishon L=92Tzion car bomb linked to underworld
(BNI-FEB.27) Police are now reporting that a bomb placed inside a
Chevrolet in Rishon L=92Tzion on Monday was linked to underworld activities=
.

As reported by BNI earlier, the explosive device placed in the car
exploded when the driver turned on the car. The driver was uninjured in
the attack.

Police investigators report the driver is known to have links to
underworld figures. Detectives added they do not believe the bomb was
intended to injure the driver but rather scare him.

                                ++++

6. Petah Tikvah arson
(BNI-FEB.27) A private home in the Kiryat Alon section of Petah Tikvah
was targeted by arsonists on Tuesday morning. There were no reported
injuries. The home did sustain significant damage. Police are
investigating.

                                ++++
7. US bashes Israel for human rights violations
(BNI-FEB.27) The United States Department of State released a report
dealing with human rights around the world. The report accuses Israel of
serious human rights violations throughout Judea, Samaria & Gaza.

IDF forces were mentioned as having violated the human rights of Arab
residents of Yesha areas =96 making mention of Israel=92s use of live
ammunition against Arab rioters in unrests.

                                ++++
8. Terrorist leader=92s brother apprehended by Israeli forces
(BNI-FEB.27) Hisham Barghouti, the brother of Tanzim terrorist
organization leader Marwan Barghouti, was apprehended by Israeli security
forces at the Allenby Bridge Crossing to Jordan during the night. The
47-year-old Barghouti was reportedly intending to visit his family that
lives in an area under the control of the PA.

PA sources expressed anger and shock over the arrest, adding Israeli
security officials only decided to place him in custody because of his
relationship to Marwan.

                                ++++

9. Police appear to have fired the incorrect bullets at Israeli Arab
rioters
(BNI-FEB.27) The government inquiry into the October 2000 riots in
northern Israel that led to the shooting deaths of 13 Israeli Arab
citizens continues to hear testimonies from police, officers and others
involved in the effort to restore order to the area. The violent clashes
with Israeli law enforcement troops were the result of the organized
effort by the Israeli Arab community to show solidarity with the
PA-orchestrated Al Aqsa Intifada which began on September 29, 2000.

During the hearing on Monday, it was learned that the rubber coated
bullets fired by Israeli forces were manufactured by Israel Military
Industries and were intended for use against lone terrorists, not for
crowd control.

IMI officials rate the RCC95 bullet for use at a distance 40-70 meters and
only against individuals, not to be fired into crowds. The court learned
that IMI produces other rubber bullets that are intended for =91crowd
control,=92 but they officers at the scene were not supplied with them.

The inquiry continues.

                                ++++
10. On the lighter side
(BNI-FEB.27) The international =91Starbucks=92 chain is planning to open =
one
hundred stores throughout Israel over the next six years. Officials
representing the international chain are busy seeking locations around
Israel for their coffee outlets. The first store is scheduled to open in
May of this year.

                                ++++
11. Israeli released from custody by PA on Monday afternoon
(BNI-FEB.27) Dr. David Marcea, an Israeli arrested last week by the PA as
a suspect in the recent assassination of a Hamas terrorist, was released
by the PA on Monday afternoon.

As reported earlier by BNI, Marcea, a former resident of the Jewish
community of Elon Moreh, was living with his Arab half-brother in the PA
autonomous city of Nablus when arrested with the half-brother by the PA. A
third person, an Israeli Arab who lives in Jaffe, was also arrested by the
PA.

Following the arrest, Israeli demanded the release of the Israeli
citizens.

Following Marcea=92s release, he was interrogated by police of the Shai
District as well as by agents of the General Security Service (GSS/Shin
Bet).

                                ++++
12. PA: Teen killed by IDF gunfire near Ramallah
(BNI-FEB.27) PA sources report that an Arab teenager, 15, was killed by
IDF gunfire in clashes in the Ramallah area on Monday. No additional
information is available at this time.

                                ++++
13. Soldier sustained moderate injuries in Gaza bomb attack
(BNI-FEB.27) An IDF soldier was moderately injured in a Monday evening
bomb attack in Gaza. An explosive device was detonated in southern Gaza,
near Rafiah. The soldier was transported to the trauma unit of the Soroka
Medical Center in Beersheba.

Two soldiers assigned to the military ambulance responding to the injured
soldier were also injured when their vehicle flipped over. The ambulance
crew was transported to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon. The cause of the
accident remains unknown at the time of this report.

                                ++++
14. Bomb/grenade attack near Rafiah

southern Gaza was targeted by a roadside explosive device and four
grenades on Monday afternoon. Soldiers were uninjured in the attack and
they returned fire in the direction of the autonomous city of Rafiah.

                                ++++

(BNI-FEB.27) PA Chairman Yassir Arafat on Monday met with Rabbi Moshe
Hirsch, the self-proclaimed leader of the anti-Zionist Neturei Karta
hassidic sect. Hirsch is officially Arafat=92s Minister of Jewish Affairs
and has an office in the PA.

Arafat briefed Hirsch on the current situation in Yesha and reportedly
received a message of encouragement from Hirsch for the Palestinian people.

Hirsch and his followers oppose the Jewish secular state and feel that its
presence is a hindrance to the coming of the messiah.

                                ++++

Judea were arrested by security forces. They are suspected of alleged

stone-throwing and other attacks against Israeli motorists traveling on
the Minharot road.

                                ++++
19. Israeli motorist attacked by gunfire Neve Dekalim industrial area
(BNI-FEB.27) Israeli motorist Yitzhak Cohen, traveling in southern Gaza
near Neve Dekalim, was attacked by PA gunfire from nearby Khan Yunis.

was blown out. IDF forces in the area returned fire.

According to Cohen, the gunfire was not random but accurate gunfire
intended at striking the target vehicle.

out to be a prank and there were no real explosives.

2. No injuries in shooting attack near Tul Qarem
(BNI-FEB.27) An Israeli motorist was attacked by gunfire in Samaria on
Tuesday afternoon from the Arab municipality of Schweika, north of the PA
autonomous municipality of Tul Qarem. The vehicle was struck gunfire. No
injuries.

                                ++++
3. Jerusalem industrial zone continues to feel impact of terror
(BNI-FEB.27) The northern Jerusalem industrial area of Atarot suffered
another blow with the shutting of another factory. Atarot has been hit
hard over past months with increasing terrorist attacks aimed at motorists
driving to the area as well as at businesses inside the industrial park.

Many firms have closed their doors, opting to move to =91safer=92 areas,
further away from the Arab population. Other businesses, wishing to
continue operating in the industrial park, are finding it increasingly
difficult to find employees willing to travel to the industrial park.

According to leaders in the Jerusalem Manufacturers Association, if
immediate decisive action is not taken soon, it may be too late to save
the once thriving commercial zone in the northern capital.

                                ++++
4. Knesset to override Deri Law with Beilin Law
(BNI-FEB.27) The Beilin Law being voted on in the Knesset on Tuesday is
expected to pass, effectively wiping out the recently passed Deri Law
regarding an early release for convicted former Shas Party kingpin Aryeh
Deri. Deri is serving a three-year jail term after being found guilty on
charges of accepting bribes, breeching the trust of his elected office and
fraud. The indictment against Deri stemmed from the time period when he
served as a Member of Knesset and cabinet minister.

The Deri Law permits releasing prisoners after they have serve one-half of
their sentence as opposed to the previous arrangement permitting the
elimination of one-third from a prisoner=92s jail term.

The Shinui opposition party, the major Shas nemesis in the parliament, is
putting the Beilin Bill forward which blocks the release of convicted
criminals serving sentences for accepting bribes, fraud or drug related
offenses.

                                ++++
5. More on Moshav Hagor terror attack
(BNI-FEB.27) Police are reporting the man killed in an orchard in Moshav
Hagor on Monday was from Kfar Saba, not from Rishon L=92Tzion.

The 52-year-old farmer is believed to have gone to the moshav field,
leaving his home on Monday morning. The dead man was planning to spray
the
olive grove with insecticides but never returned home. Later in the day,
his wife and 15-year-old son began looking for him =96 finding his body in
the field.

The victim, whose name has not been cleared for release, left a wife and
two children.

                                ++++
6. MK Bishara met with PA Chairman Arafat
(BNI-FEB.27) Arab MK Azmi Bishara on Tuesday met with PA Chairman
Yassir
Arafat in Arafat=92s Ramallah office. The two reportedly discussed the
political scene vis-=E0-vis Prime Minister-elect Ariel Sharon assuming
office following the formation of his government.

The two also discussed the situation in Yesha areas as well as the recent
visit to the region of US Secretary of State Colin Powell, who met in
Ramallah with Arafat.

                                ++++
7. Etzion victorious in court on Temple Mount charges
(BNI-FEB.27) The leader of the Chai Vekaiyam organization and Temple
Mount
activist Yehuda Etzion was acquitted of all charges in a case, charging
him with trying to enter the Temple Mount complex by force.

Etzion, who was acquitted with two other activists, was found =91not guilty=
=92
of the charges. The court admonished police for placing the three under
arrest, pointing out they should have been permitted to enter the Mount
complex. Taking a unique position, the court added in statements to police
that threats of Islamic riots as a result of Jews visiting the Mount were
irrelevant.

In a related matter, the General Security Service (GSS/Shin Bet) has
recommended that Jews be permitted to visit the Temple Mount once again.
With the outbreak of the PA orchestrated warfare at the end of Sept. 2000,
security officials placed a ban on Jews visiting the holy site for fear of
increased Islamic violence.

The Temple Mount is the holiest site to the Jewish religion, the site of
the First and Second Temples. The Mount was liberated from Jordanian
occupation by IDF paratroopers in the June 1967 Six Day War but Israel
decided to permit the Waqf Islamic Trust to maintain civil control of the
Mount which has led to the banning of Jewish prayer on the site by Islamic
officials.

Etzion and his followers, as well as other organizations and Temple Mount
activists, are leading the struggle against religious discrimination in
Israel against Jews who wish to pray on the Mount.

Ha'aretz: Barak was biggest settlement builder since '92

By Nadav Shragai Ha'aretz Correspondent Ha'aretz 27 February 2001

The government began construction of 1,943 housing units in the territories
last year - the largest number in any year since 1992, according to data
released yesterday by MK Mussi Raz (Meretz).

The figures are based on official data from the Housing Ministry.

Nor has the building stopped since the outbreak of the Al Aqsa Intifada: In
the last quarter of 2000, work was begun on 954 housing units, up from 368
in the final quarter of 1999, Raz said.

And since such public construction accounts for only about 25 percent of all
building in Israel, the actual number of units built in the territories last
year was probably around four times higher.

The figures also showed that only 632 units have so far been sold in the new
Har Homa neighborhood of East Jerusalem, out of some 2,000 that were put up
for sale.

Additionally, the Housing Ministry only recently issued a tender for
development work in the Tel Zion neighborhood of Kochav Ya'akov, south of
Ramallah. The plan is to build 696 apartments there for Haredi families -
which would double the settlement's current population of about 600
families.

Ha'aretz: Shin Bet urges opening of the gates to the Temple Mount to
non-Muslims, construction on Temple Mount, Sharon's exculpation

By Nadav Shragai Ha'aretz 27 February 2001

Officials in Israel's security establishment are entangled in an argument
about the Temple Mount, and the dispute will undoubtedly engage Ariel
Sharon's new government as soon as it is established. Talking with political
leaders, Shin Bet security officials insist that the Old City's Temple Mount
enclave ought to be opened for regular visits taken by non-Muslims. Some
senior police officers have their doubts about this position; the police are
divided on the issue.Shin Bet officials want to restore affairs on the
Temple Mount to the situation which preceded Ariel Sharon's controversial
visit there this fall, and the ensuing eruption of the Al-Aqsa Intifada. If
the status quo isn't restored, the Shin Bet is concerned that extremist
Jewish Temple Mount groups who have been angered by the area's closure could
be driven toward desperate acts of violence against Muslims, or against the
Al-Aqsa mosque and Dome of the Rock shrine. Israeli security officials refer
to such a scenario as "an inevitable explosion in the pressure cooker."

An incident last Sunday in which ten Temple Mount activists were detained
for questioning after trying to infiltrate the area should be seen as a
portent, the Shin Bet agents believe. In terms of the tensions and despair
which grip these right-wing Jewish groups, Sunday's incident is just the tip
of the iceberg, they believe.

Though a ban against Jewish ritual and worship has been part of the Temple
Mount status quo since 1967, a right of entry to the area is guaranteed by
Israel law concerning holy sites. Before October 2000, security officials
routinely allowed individuals and groups to exercise this right to visit the
Temple Mount. Many tourists took advantage of the right; so, too, did Jewish
Israelis, including members of various Temple Mount groups.

When it came to the Temple Mount groups, security officials allowed limited
sets of visitors to go up to the site, under close supervision maintained
both by the Waqf Muslim religious trust, and by Israel's police. For
instance, the "Movement for the Establishment of the Temple" sent small
groups to the Mount each week, on Tuesdays; the visitors were both members
of the movement, and also persons who supported its goals and agenda. Also,
leaders of West Bank yeshivas, like Rabbi Yehuda Amital (who is affiliated
with the Meimad movement) regularly climbed up the Temple Mount for tours
and visits that were not considered acts of Jewish rite or worship.

Throughout the past five months, such visits have been denied to members of
the Jewish groups and sectors. Agents in the Shin Bet department which deals
with Jewish extremists are worried about a doomsday scenario by which some
lone Jewish terrorist, an individual without a criminal record, might try to
attack Muslims in the Temple Mount area, or its mosques. These officials
believe that the current policy of keeping the Mount gates closed tempts
fate, unintentionally encouraging some such deranged individual to cross the
line and perpetrate an attack which might light the fires of hatred and
violence in Jerusalem.

Security officials have already brought their concerns about this bleak
scenario, and other possible eventualities, to Ariel Sharon. The Shin Bet
believes that if the Temple Mount isn't opened soon, Israel will find it
difficult to restore the status quo which was maintained there for more than
30 years. In fact, security officials fear the emergence of a new status quo
whereby non-Muslims are kept off the Mount; this situation, which would have
been considered radical and untenable by Israelis just six months ago, could
form the basis of a new, far more intransigent and extreme, Palestinian
position in future negotiations about control of the Temple Mount.

++No light at end of tunnel

The final word has yet to be spoken in disputes about archaeological
excavations on the Temple Mount. Opposing positions taken by state
authorities, the "Committee to Prevent the Destruction of Antiquities on the
Temple Mount" is set to petition the High Court. The Committee's last letter
to Prime Minister Ehud Barak was signed by influential, respected figures
such as former Supreme Court President, Meir Shamgar. Up to now, the
Committee has been leaving the legal battle to the messianic "Temple Mount
Faithful" group; this group petitioned the High Court concerning the same
matter.

Wrangling between such petitioners and the State Attorney's office has
reached a peak in recent weeks, as expert opinions and depositions have been
filed in connection to the tunnel which the Waqf has reportedly worked on in
an underground passage leading between "Solomon's Stables" and the Al-Aqsa
area.

In their statements, petitioners have informed the High Court about
"confirmed evidence" attesting to the Waqf's construction work on the
underground tunnel, which begins at the Hulda "Double Gate," and heads
eastward. According to information submitted by the High Court petitioners,
the goal of construction work on the tunnel is to link up with the the Hulda
"Triple Gate," which is an integral part of the area known as Solomon's
Stable, a site which the Waqf converted a few years ago into the "Marwani
Mosque."

Yisrael Caspi, who helps direct efforts undertaken by the Committee to
Prevent the Destruction of Antiquities on the Temple Mount, says that his
group has four different sources which confirm suspicions concerning
potentially damaging work done by the Waqf on the tunnel project.

"The first report," Caspi says, came from a source with which we've worked
for more than a year. We have a lot of experience with this source. On more
than one occasion, information this source relayed contradicted a police
account; and subsequently it became clear that the source's version was
correct. The second, a Jewish source, is affiliated with a government
agency. We met with this Jewish source and with the [first] Arab source, and
they informed us that until we went public with disclosures on the issue,
the Waqf carried out cleaning and preparatory work in the entry space
between the Second and Third Gates.

"The third source is a top government official who toured the area; and the
fourth source is Israel Radio correspondent Danny Zaken, who visited the
Mount, saw the tunnel, and reported what he saw on radio broadcasts."

Ami Gluska, a political adviser to outgoing Public Security Minister Shlomo
Ben-Ami, heads a team of officials responsible for forwarding
recommendations regarding the Temple Mount to the political leadership.
Gluska's committee, comprised of officials from the Department of
Antiquities, the police, the Shin Bet, the Prime Minister's Office, and the
Justice Ministry, meets regularly to discuss Temple Mount issues. In view of
the dispute which has broken out between the High Court petitioners and
government officials concerning developments beneath the Mount, the Court
asked this public committee to clarify the details of the Waqf tunnel
project.

Gluska's conclusions are emphatic and categorical: There is, he insists, no
tunnel, and no work being carried out in the underground space between
Al-Aqsa and Solomon's Stables. Gluska relies on an analysis provided by an
archaeologist, Prof. Amos Kloner, who is affiliated with the Committee to
Prevent the Destruction of Antiquities on the Temple Mount. Gluska says that
Kloner "visited the Temple Mount, and gave descriptions of his visit to
members of [Gluska's] team, emphasizing that he didn't identify any traces
of excavation work being done at the site."

(The Committee to Prevent the Destruction of Antiquities claims that Kloner,
who visited the site with Haim Gouri, was misled; the police adamantly
reject this Committee contention). Contending that the Waqf is not
undertaking construction projects on the Mount, Gluska also relies on
testimony furnished by ranking police officers, including the head of the
unit assigned to protect Old City holy sites.

Gluska says that Israel Radio reporter Danny Zaken declined an invitation to
appear before his team, due to an order given by his superiors. "My bosses
told me that as a journalist I cannot appear before such a committee, unless
it is a state commission of inquiry," Zaken says. "For my own part, I would
be pleased to appear before this panel. I have been on the Temple Mount, and
I saw things there with my own eyes, so nobody can tell me any tall tales
about it."

In his testimony to the High Court, Gluska claims that the police and other
officials regularly monitor developments on the Temple Mount's various
levels. He reports about extensive documentation, photographs and films
which record any work being carried out at the site. Such documentation,
Gluska says, is relayed to the Department of Antiquities, the Attorney
General, and other state officials.

In this whirl of allegations and counter-claims about construction projects
on the Temple Mount, the state and the High Court petitioners agree about
just a few facts, none of them related to the controversial tunnel. Most
details are in dispute, and the High Court will have to try to sort them
out. Meantime, even Gluska, who vociferously denies that a potentially
damaging tunnel project is in the works, admits that "the situation with
supervision on the Temple Mount isn't satisfactory."

Jon Seligman, Jerusalem District Archaeologist, adds that "The Department of
Antiquities doesn't carry out continual supervision on the Mount, and it
isn't pleased about this situation."

+Sharon's exculpation

Ariel Sharon visited the Temple Mount on September 28, 2000. Two days later
violent clashes started. A preliminary report submitted by the Barak
government to the Mitchell Committee which is investigating aspects of the
Intifada violence devotes an entire section to Sharon's controversial climb
to the Mount.

This section is of interest, both because of the new disclosures it
contains, and (more importantly) because it constitutes a clear-cut defense
submitted by the outgoing government exculpating the leader who will replace
it, Ariel Sharon.

The report is studded with Biblical quotations which underscore the Holy
Mount's paramount importance to the Jewish people. It delineates the main
purpose of the visit: "Examination of archaeological sites on the Temple
Mount, in response to works carried out by the Muslim Waqf there,
particularly in the Solomon's Stables area." The report adds that the
"Palestinian side received a report on the course planned for the visit. It
was emphasized that Mr. Sharon would visit the site in the same capacity as
any non-Muslim. Israeli authorities promised that there would be no attempt
to restrict free access enjoyed by Muslims to the site at the time of the
visit.

"Consultations with the Palestinian side," the report continues, "included a
telephone conversation about the planned visit involving Foreign Minister
Shlomo Ben-Ami and Palestinian security head Jibril Rajoub, on September 26.
During this talk, Mr. Rajoub stated that 'if Mr. Sharon refrains from
entering the mosques on the Temple Mount, there won't be a problem.' In
light of this consultation and other measures which were taken, the visit
wasn't prohibited."

The report concludes that "no matter how sensitive it was, Sharon's visit
wasn't the cause of violence. Instead it was a pretext for a campaign of
violence whose foundation was the Palestinian leadership. The goal of the
violence was to create facts on the ground, to bring about a new reality
whereby support would be won for Palestinian positions in relations with
Israel. The sacrifice of Palestinian victims, which was unavoidable as a
result of tactics of confrontation adopted by the Palestinians, served as
the means" to effect this change in international opinion

Subject: [bprlist] Human ovaries 'grown in mice'
From: "research-bpr" <research-bpr@philologos.org>

Human ovaries 'grown in mice'

The mice were implanted with human tissue

Frozen human ovary tissue - a potential fertility lifeline for hundreds of
UK women - has been successfully thawed and revived in mice.
And in more potentially good news for women threatened with infertility, a
new technique appears to have greatly increased the number of frozen human
eggs which can be subsequently fertilised.

However, the restoration of working ovarian tissue - even allowing natural
conception to take place, is described as the "holy grail" in this field.

Women who undergo ovarian removal or chemotherapy for cancer often lose
their fertility as a result, and can suffer early menopause.

Cryopreservation of ovarian tissues has real potential for clinical
application

Dr Debra Gook, Melbourne
While men whose fertility is threatened can elect to have semen frozen for
later use, at the moment, the preservation - and reactivation - of eggs, and
tissue from the ovary, is far more problematic.

A team of scientists from Melbourne, Australia, has now demonstrated that
frozen human ovarian tissue, once thawed, can grow in a "normal" fashion.

The tissue was implanted into mice, and immature follicles within the
tissue, which are supposed eventually release the eggs for fertilisation,
began to develop in a similar way to conventional ovarian tissue.

Dr Debra Gook, who led the team at the city's Royal Women's Hospital, said:
"Our study is the first to confirm normal growth and development of human
follicles.

"The high rate of functional preservation of follicles following
cryopreservation also suggests that cryopreservation of ovarian tissues has
real potential for clinical application."

Ovary tissue and eggs can be frozen

Another piece of Australian research also found that mouse ovarian follicles
could be frozen and thawed, then similarly developed under laboratory
conditions.

Pioneering doctors have implanted previously-frozen ovarian tissue into an
American woman, Margaret Lloyd-Hart, but the procedure was not a success.

The follicles within the ovarian tissue did not develop fully.

Dr Simon Fishel, of the Care IVF clinic in Nottingham, described the ovarian
advance as "very exciting", although he stressed it was unlikely to be a
reliable treatment inside five years.

He said: "It's certainly an extension of what has been done before - this is
certainly going to happen - it's just a question of when and how."

Egg success

Only 30 babies have been born worldwide using frozen eggs - the success
rate
is extremely low.

However, a team from the University of Bologna say they have found a way of
improving the egg's chances during the freezing process.

Water left in the egg causes damage to its fragile contents during freezing.

Sucrose in the freezing solution is used to draw water out through the cell
membrane.

The ovarian tissue developed normally inside the mouse

The Bologna team doubled or even tripled the concentration of sucrose, and
found great improvements in the proportion of eggs which survived the
freezing process.

Doubling the concentration improved the egg survival rate from 34% to 60%.
Tripling it boosted egg survival to 82%.

Furthermore, 57% could be fertilised using fertility techniques, and 90% of
those fertilised showed all the characteristics of "healthy" embryos.

Dr Rafaella Fabbri, who led the research, said: "It is very important that
we improve the possibilities for women to become pregnant after having their
eggs frozen."

Dr Fishel commented that while frozen egg fertility treatments seemed to
have the greatest current potential in the short term, there were still
safety concerns about possible genetic damage within the egg during the
dehydrating and freezing process.

Subject: [bprlist] Gene-Spliced Wheat Stirs Global Fears
From: "research-bpr" <research-bpr@philologos.org>
Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 11:13:44 -0500

Gene-Spliced Wheat Stirs Global Fears
Buyers Spurn Grain Before It's Planted

By Marc Kaufman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, February 27, 2001; Page A01

Agricultural scientists have developed the first genetically engineered
variety of wheat designed for sale to farmers, stirring intense controversy
around the globe years before it is expected to come onto the market.

The wheat, produced by the biotechnology giant Monsanto, has been spliced
with a gene that protects it from Monsanto's powerful and popular herbicide
Roundup, allowing farmers to kill weeds efficiently without harming their
crop. Monsanto says it will be ready for farmers within two to four years,
and the company estimates it will increase crop yields by $6 to $11 an acre=
.

The company hopes the wheat will also lead to other engineered
improvements
to one of the world's oldest and most important crops, but the internationa=
l
reaction illustrates just how contentious and unpredictable genetically
engineered crops have become.

As news of Monsanto's wheat has spread, buyers from Japan to Europe and
Egypt have told U.S. exporters that their consumers will not accept
genetically modified wheat because of general fears about possible harm to
the environment and human health from engineered crops. Some have said
that
the wheat's very presence on American farms could threaten future purchases
of all U.S. wheat. Half of all American wheat is exported, accounting for
$3.7 billion in sales and almost 20 percent of all agricultural commodities
shipped abroad in 1999.

"We may in the future have a biotech wheat that the world does want," said
Darrell Hanavan, chairman of a joint wheat industry committee on
biotechnology. "But we need to proceed now under the assumption that some
markets won't want it anytime soon. And the challenge will be to make sure
that buyers and their customers get exactly what they want."

In an effort to respond to these concerns, Monsanto has agreed to an
unprecedented wheat industry request to put in place a system to strictly
segregate the modified wheat before it is ever sold to farmers or even
approved by regulators. The company has also agreed generally to promote
wheat biotechnology to buyers and consumers abroad.

"Some farmers do have concerns about the market for our wheat, but many
really want it," said Monsanto spokesman Mark Buckingham. "Farmers need
to
make improvements and reduce costs, and farmers know our technology can
provide that . . . We want to be frank and open because in the current
atmosphere, it's very easy for misconceptions to arise."

About 55 percent of U.S. soybeans and 25 percent of corn harvested last
year
were genetically engineered. Development of genetically modified wheat has
lagged behind other crops because it is a more complex plant, made from the
union of three wild grasses that have been improved by farmers over the
millennia. Rights to wheat varieties are often publicly owned, which can
make them less desirable to profit-making companies.

Since last year's Starlink corn debacle -- in which an engineered corn only
approved for animal consumption inadvertently made it into the human food
supply -- already negative attitudes in major foreign markets about
genetically modifed foods have intensified.

The result is that unlike the American corn and soybean industries, which
quickly embraced biotech products in the mid-1990s, many in the wheat
industry are approaching biotechnology now more as a challenge to surmount
than an immediate opportunity to exploit. That wheat has an unusual
emotional resonance for many people stemming from its use in bread, the
ancient "staff of life," just adds to the challenge.

"Monsanto's wheat can definitely be a real benefit to the producers and our
country," said Phil Isaak, a board member of U.S. Wheat Associates, the
national organization that promotes American wheat exports for growers. "Bu=
t
unless we get worldwide public approval of it, we have to take the position
of resisting release for commercialization."

Critics of biotechnology call the worldwide debate over genetically modifie=
d
wheat a positive development, and are pleased it is happening well before
the crop is actually introduced. While major U.S. scientific organizations
have generally found that current genetically engineered crops pose no
danger to the environment or human health, opponents argue that taking
genes
from one kind of plant or animal and inserting it into another could have
unforeseen long-term consequences.

"It is a very healthy thing for people to be asking now if we really need
this wheat, if it's wise to release it and whether it will benefit people
who need help," said Margaret Mellon of the Union of Concerned Scientists.
"This has never happened before with a major product of biotechnology."

Monsanto's wheat is being tested in greenhouses in the upper Midwest and
bred into local varieties. Company officials say they are in no rush to
introduce Roundup Ready wheat, and will bring it onto the market gradually
when they do. The company has asked for Environmental Protection Agency
approval to add wheat to the approved list of crops for its Roundup
herbicide, but has not yet approached two other federal agencies.

Industry and company officials said they hoped to devise a segregation
system for engineered wheat -- which would parallel those already in place
for some special conventional varieties -- by year's end.

Montana wheat farmer Frank Elling said he would be happy to use Roundup
Ready wheat if he was certain customers would accept it. But his Pacific Ri=
m
buyers have made their reservations known, and Asian governments have
taken
dramatic steps in recent years to reject shipments of genetically modified
crops.

Japanese officials, for instance, turned back a boatload of corn last year
suspected to contain the Starlink variety, and Thai officials did the same
with a shipment of wheat 18 months ago. In that case, officials concluded
that the American wheat had been mixed with small amounts of engineered
corn
while being transported from the West Coast.

Similar messages of concern have been coming in to the 17 international
offices of U.S. Wheat Associates, the American export marketing group. A
letter from Tsutoma Shigeta of the Japan Flour Millers Association said, fo=
r
instance, that "Japanese consumers are highly suspicious and skeptical
about
safety of [genetically modified] farm products which may be hazardous to
human health and environment. Under the circumstances, I strongly doubt
that
any bakery and noodle products made of [modified] wheat or even
conventional
wheat that may contain [modified] wheat will be accepted in the Japanese
market."

Jef Smidts of the Dutch wheat supplier Andre & Cie wrote even more bluntly,
"[Genetically modified] wheat for sure will be a market destructor." Becaus=
e
of such concerns, legislators in Montana and North Dakota have introduced
bills to place a moratorium on the use of genetically engineered wheat.

Val Giddings, vice president for food and agriculture for the Biotechnology
Industry Organization, said he has heard similar concerns, but that he
believes the "perception of resistance is substantially greater than the
reality is likely to be.

"Monsanto has recognized and is acting on the understanding that some
folks
want to have more input into this product," he said. "They are trying to do
this in an open and transparent way, and that is not without risk."

Subject: [bprlist] Fear, depression and suicide forecast
From: Stafford's News <simmonds@freeuk.com>
Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 18:29:43 GMT

Dear Friends

UK Independent Television News (ITN) 1800 on 27th Feb 2001

ITN has a news item tonight stating that the NFU (National Farmers
Union) is deeply concerned about its members at this time. All
movement of livestock has been halted in the UK which means that
farmers are no longer able to congregate at their weekly cattle market.
This is where they exchange views and talk about their worries as well
as buy and sell livestock.

As farmers are normally much on their own this time acts as a safety
valve. The NFU is concerned that farmers unable to share at this
deeply worrying and fearful time may find themselves going into deep
depresion which may lead to the possibility of suicides.

I have noticed that many more people than normal have used the words
prayer or God in these days whilst talking on radio and TV. Do pray
that this disaster will cause men and women to seek God in these days.
He is, after all, their only hope in this fragmented world.

The latest toll is 17 confirmed cases widely spread over the UK. This
is indeed an horrendous disease which is already causing widespread
financial loss.

Blessings Stafford
====================================================
One of our list members provides the following information from the
American edition of Encarta:

Foot-and-Mouth Disease

Foot-and-Mouth Disease, contagious febrile disease of animals and,
rarely, humans. It is also called hoof-and-mouth disease. Caused by a virus,
it affects cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, swine, sheep, goats, and
deer, often causing epidemics. The disease is characterized by a sudden rise
in temperature, followed by an eruption of blisters occurring in the mouth,
on areas of tender skin such as the udder in females, and on the feet;
blisters may also appear in the nostrils. Salivation and frequent smacking of
the lips accompany the eruption. The blisters grow larger and then break,
exposing raw, eroded surfaces. Eating becomes difficult and painful, and
because the soft tissues under the hoof are inflamed, the animal invariably
becomes lame and may shed its hooves. Livestock raised for meat lose much
weight, and dairy cattle and goats give less milk. Often the disease kills
very young animals and causes pregnant females to abort. The crippling effect
is extremely serious where oxen are used as draft animals.

The United States has experienced nine distinct epizootics; the most serious
occurred in 1914, invading 22 states and the District of Columbia. The latest
outbreak, which occurred in California in 1929, was quickly controlled.

Foot-and-mouth disease nevertheless remains a menace to livestock raisers and
the meat-packing, dairy, leather, and wool industries. The Agricultural
Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture inspects all imported
livestock, stock feed, and bedding at all points of entry. The department is
strict in enforcing quarantine regulations.

Considerable progress has been made toward developing an effective vaccine
against foot-and-mouth disease, but the cost (approximately $1 billion
annually) of vaccinating all susceptible animals would be prohibitive.
Moreover, the vaccine would not eradicate the disease. Consequently, the
slaughter of all exposed animals is the only presently effective
countermeasure to foot-and-mouth disease. During the outbreak in the United
Kingdom in 1967 and 1968, for example, more than 430,000 animals were
slaughtered.

Subject: [bprlist] Arutz-7 News items (2/27/01)
From: "research-bpr" <research-bpr@philologos.org>

COURT RECOGNIZES RIGHT OF JEWISH PRAYER ON TEMPLE MOUNT
The Jerusalem Magistrates Court found three Chai VeKayam Temple Mount
activists - including Yehuda Etzion - innocent this morning of behaving
violently in an attempt to forcefully enter the Mount, six years ago. Hon.
Shimon Feinberg ruled that before the police take measures against Jews
who wish to exercise their right to pray at the holy site, they should disperse
the Moslem disturbers-of-the-peace who aim to prevent Jewish prayer
there. This is the first time that an Israeli court has recognized the
rights of Jews to pray on the Temple Mount.

A one-time government decision preventing a group led by the late Rabbi
Shlomo Goren from praying there in 1967 - a decision that has never been
renewed - is the only basis the police have for forbidding Jewish prayer
there. Etzion told Arutz-7's Yosef Zalmanson today, "This is totally
wrong, as that was a one-time decision, for that particular situation. As
surprising as it may sound, no government since then, not even the Barak
government, ever made a blanket decision forbidding Jewish prayer
there. On the contrary - other decisions were made forbidding prayer there
on certain specific days; this proves that the decision of 1967 was never
seen as a permanent ban on Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount." Today's
decision is expected to be appealed by the State Prosecution.

In a related item, the General Security Service has been pushing the
government for a while now to open the Temple Mount to Jewish
visitors. Ha'aretz reports today that the GSS feels that the frustration
among the groups wishing to visit the holy site is great, and that if an
outlet is not found for the rage, it could explode into violence. The
arrest two days ago of ten Temple Mount activists who attempted to enter is
only the tip of the iceberg, the GSS feels. The site has been closed to
Jewish visitors since the beginning of the mini-war five months ago.

ARAFAT'S MEETINGS
Yasser Arafat met this week with two "representatives" of Israeli or Jewish
interests. Yesterday, Rabbi Moshe Hirsch - who claims to represent the
anti-Zionist religious Neturei Karta sect - met with Arafat, and gave him a
message of encouragement for the Palestinian people in "its struggle
against the secular state" that, he claims, is an obstacle to the arrival
of the Messiah. Today, Arafat met with Arab MK Azmi Bishara in
Ramallah. It was reported that the two discussed the political scene in
light of the upcoming Sharon government, as well as U.S. Secretary of State
Colin Powell's recent visit to the region.

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell described Sharon yesterday as a
thinking leader who is willing to put his past behind him and to extend a
hand to the Palestinians in an effort to end the cycle of violence. He
said that Arafat, however, is adhering to his old positions and is probably
not doing everything he can to rein in the violence.

HA'ARETZ LEAVES OUT A DETAIL, AND OTHER BRIEFS
Hisham Bargouti, a brother of senior Fatah activist Marwan Bargouti, was
arrested by Israeli security forces at the Allenby Bridge last night when a
night-vision scope - designed to be attached to a weapon - was discovered
on his person. Hisham Bargouti is a Saudi Arabian resident who
periodically visits his family in the autonomous areas. IMRA
("www.imra.org.il") notes that Ha'aretz reported that "Hisham's family were
astounded by the news of his arrest," but failed to mention that he was
arrested for attempting to smuggle the night-vision equipment...
The Knesset Finance Committee refused to approve the budget of the
Israel
Broadcasting Authority today. The session was halted in the middle, by the
unanimous decision of the committee members, who said that the IBA had
not
met its obligations under the mandated rehabilitation plan. The proposed
budget includes significant pay raises for many IBA seniors...
The Supreme Court heard a joint petition today by the Israel Society for
the Preservation of Nature and right-wing activist Noam Federman. They
demand that the State restore the Mt. Korazim (Mt. of Beatitudes) site,
which it destroyed last year to make room for a Mass prayer service in the
presence of the Pope. The government promised at the time that it would
restore the site, but it has not yet done so...

began earlier in the night.

Shooting is originating in the PA autonomous city of el-Bireh which
borders P=92sagot.

In another matter in the Benjamin Regional Council district of Samaria,
Route 60 from Jerusalem to the Gush Shilo area has been reopened to
motorists following multiple shooting attacks in that area.

                                ++++
3. Terror victim identified
(BNI-FEB.27) The Jerusalem resident seriously wounded in a terrorist
attack near Atarot has been identified as Shoshana Gottlieb, 48. She was
shot in her chest and remains on a respirator in Jerusalem=92s Hadassah
Hospital in Ein Kerem as physicians decide if and when to operate to
remove the bullet(s).

The attack took place at about 4:00pm on the new road from Jerusalem to
the northern capital =91Atarot=92 industrial park. Terrorist opened fire on=
 a
GMC van transporting employees of the industrial park back to Jerusalem.
The van was fired upon about 100 meters (yards) from an IDF base. Shots
were fired from two weapons, an M-16 and AK-47 Kalashnikov assault rifles.

The attack comes at a time when the Jerusalem Manufacturers Association
has warned of the imminent danger of the entire industrial park shutting
down as businesses continue to close their door in reaction to increased
terror attacks aimed at the park and approach roads.

Employers have been complaining over the increasingly difficult situation,
explaining that employees are afraid to drive of being driven to the area.

                                ++++
4. Senior Fatah official justifies Atarot shooting attack
(BNI-FEB.27) A senior official in PA Chairman Yassir Arafat=92s Fatah
faction issued a statement Tuesday evening justifying the most recent
terrorist attack in which three persons were injured, one seriously and
two very lightly.

The unnamed Fatah official was quoted by Israel Radio explaining the
attack was a response for the Israeli actions against PA residents
throughout Yesha =93that lead to much suffering and death.=94

The official added, =93Israelis, especially settlers, should not feel too
comfortable thinking that [Prime Minister-elect Ariel] Sharon will provide
security for them or drive out the Palestinians.=94

                                ++++

5. Home Front Commander exercise in Upper Nazareth
(BNI-FEB.27) The IDF Home Front Command will on Wednesday, February
28,
2001, conduct a training exercise in the Givat Ze=92ev neighborhood of Uppe=
r
Nazareth between the hours of 6:00pm-12:00am.

Soldiers will be working in conjunction with police, firefighters, EMS
personnel and local municipality officials.

Sirens will be heard in the area, a large presence of soldiers will be
visible and smoke grenades will be deployed.

                                ++++
6. Real estate industry collapsing due to PA warfare
(BNI-FEB.27) Senior officials in Israel=92s real estate industry are warnin=
g
that the PA-orchestrated warfare has delivered a severe blow to Israel=92s
lucrative real estate industry.

Officials explain that the uncertainty of the daily security situation
accompanied by other related factors, has led to a plummet in national
interest in purchasing homes, leaving many persons with homes that have
been on the market for the past months.

Realtors add that for those persons with capital and seeking to purchase a
home, the time if opportune for what they are calling a buyers market.

Realtors warn that if the trend is not turned around in the immediate
future, the impact to the national economy could be devastating, striking
the construction and other related industries.

1. IDF soldier injured by shrapnel in Atarot area
(BNI-FEB.27) An IDF soldier involved in the manhunt for terrorists in the
Atarot area of northern Jerusalem was lightly injured by shrapnel. It was
first reported that the three soldiers who were very lightly injured were
treated and released on the scene.

Hadassah Hospital officials report one soldier is being treated in the
emergency room and his condition is listed as light.

                                ++++

2. Benjamin district police commander: Route 45 not recommended
(BNI-FEB.27) In a Channel 2 TV News interview on Tuesday night, the
commander of the Benjamin district of the Israel Police advised motorist
not to use Route 45, the new Atarot bypass road intended to provide a
route of safe travel to and from the capital to the northern industrial
park.

Security commanders have already reported it is obvious that terrorist
elements have decided to concentrate on Atarot, located south of the PA
autonomous city of el-Bireh, in the hope of driving away businesspersons
from the once lucrative industrial park.

Following the latest in a series of recent attacks in and around Atarot,
additional businesspersons have announced they will join the growing
number of persons that have decided to close the doors of their Atarot
operation and relocate elsewhere.

The senior police commander when asked if the road was dangerous and not
recommended responded positively, instructing motorists to draw their own
conclusions but not advising continued travel on the route. The senior
commander did not offer any alternative safe route of travel to the
industrial park located inside the capital.

Earlier on Tuesday, shortly before the attack, Arabs blocked the roads to
the northern Jerusalem Atarot Airport, adjacent to the industrial park.
Soldiers were compelled to use rubber bullets when other less serious
means of crowd dispersal were unsuccessful.

Israeli authorities that now label the area a hi-risk road have all but
abandoned another once major vehicular route, Route 443. The Jerusalem-Tel
Aviv route has been the target of many fatal and non-fatal terrorist
attacks and as a result, is no longer the busy road it was only weeks
earlier.

=91Ma=92atz=92 roadway works officials report that as a result of the attac=
ks on
443 and motorists converging on Route 1, the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway,
rush hour traffic is overwhelming and daily bottlenecking can reach ten
kilometers (6 miles), with no hope in sight. Road experts explain Route 1
and its approach roads were never intended to serve as main arteries to
replace Route 443. Military commanders insist that much is being done to
ensure the safety of motorists on Route 45 but nevertheless today,
terrorists were successful.

The IDF has positioned armored vehicles along Route 443 but the scare
tactics do little or nothing to provide motorist with a feeling of
security or prevent attacks. Terrorists have learned the positioning of a
tank or armored personnel carriers does not hinder their perpetrating a
shooting attacking and fleeing to nearby areas under security control of
the PA.

The Egged Bus Cooperative continues rerouting its busses in response to
increasing terrorist attacks around the country. Road including the
Jericho bypass, routes to Tiberias and other northern areas from the
capital, Route 443 during nighttime travel, are just a few examples of new
routes being ordered by the security establishment as Israel continues to
abandon major roadways inside and outside the Green Line as daily PA
warfare continues to plague Israel.

                                ++++

3. Soldiers thwart attack in southern Gaza on Tuesday afternoon
(BNI-FEB.27) IDF soldiers operating in southern Gaza on Tuesday afternoon
succeeded in thwarting a terrorist attack in that area. The force was
operating south of the Kissufim Junction when they spotted an explosive
device which was subsequently detonated by experts under a controlled
environment.

                                ++++
4. Raviv trial postponed again
(BNI-FEB.27) The state=92s request for another postponement in the trial of
General Security Service (GSS/Shin Bet) agent/provocateur Avishai Raviv
was granted on Tuesday and the trial was pushed off once again.

The Raviv trial continues to be placed on hold despite the recent High
Court rejection of an appeal from Margalit Har-Sheffi, who will next month
begin serving a nine-month jail sentence for not taking action to prevent
the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

The overwhelming evidence against Raviv, who was acting as a government
agent seeking to discredit the nationalistic camp at the time of the Rabin
assassination, prompted State Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein to move
on the criminal indictment in April 1999 despite GSS objections.
Nevertheless, the trial has yet to become a reality.

Witnesses have testified to Raviv having knowledge of the same information
as Har-Sheffi as well as some testimony indicating Raviv incited the
convicted assassin, Yigal Amir, to carryout his murderous threats plot to
take the life of the prime minister.

                                ++++
5. 11 Lebanese sentenced for corroborating with Israel
(BNI-FEB.27) Eleven Lebanese citizens, former members of the Israel-allied
Southern Lebanese Army, were on Tuesday sentenced to prison sentences
for
corroborating with the enemy. Sentences ranged from three weeks to fifteen
years.

Since the IDF unilateral withdrawal from southern Lebanon on May 24, 2000,
over 2,200 Lebanese citizens have been found guilty of collaborating with
the enemy.

                                ++++
6. Israelis tied to ecstasy factory in Holland
(BNI-FEB.27) Tel Aviv police working together with their Dutch
counterparts have uncovered a large ecstasy ring operating on a farm in
Holland that is funded by Israelis. The large operation according to
police was producing 120,000 of the pills hourly.

                                ++++
7. Brig.-Gen. Orr =96 PA violence will increase as economic situations
continues to deteriorate
(BNI-FEB.27) The IDF Coordinator of Activities in the Territories (Yesha)
Brig.-Gen. Yaakov Orr on Tuesday reported that it is most likely that PA
violence will continue to increase as the economic picture within the PA
worsens. Orr stated in his address to the Knesset Foreign Affairs &
Defense Committee that it was the responsibility of the political echelon
to decide what measures should be taken in response to PA violence while
maintaining security for Israeli citizens as the highest priority.

According to Orr, unemployment within the PA has reached 700,000,
representing 45 percent of the PA population. In addition he added, there
are 30,000 PA residents are working illegally inside the Green Line.

In the meantime, the United Nations World Food Program has begun
providing
food assistance for PA residents. UNWFP officials Mushtaq Qureshi stated
the UN believes the 4 million dollar humanitarian effort will assist in
lowering tensions in the area and provide a temporary solution to those PA
residents in need of the assistance.

Included in the care packages are rice, oil, flour and sugar. Saudi Arabia
donated $2 million while Hamas terror organization volunteers worked
within PA areas to pack about 50,000 care packages on behalf of the UN
organization.

                                ++++
8. Barak bids farewell to IDF Central Command
(BNI-FEB.27) As he prepares to leave office, outgoing Prime
Minister/Defense Minister Ehud Barak stated the sharp escalation in PA
violation was justification for an increased IDF response to daily
attacks. Barak made his remarks following the release of the annual US
government annual human rights report which condemned what it called
Israel=92s use of unjustifiable and excessive force against PA residents
throughout Yesha areas.

IDF officials and Barak rejected the US criticism, adding the IDF
responded to daily warfare and attacks in a restrained, proportionate and
measured fashion, adding that since the start of the PA warfare on
September 29, 2000, there have been over 3,000 live-fire attacks against
Israeli targets using grenades, mortar rockets, shootings and roadside
bombings. There have also been lynchings of Israeli citizens and IDF
soldiers.

                                ++++
9. Arafat in Amman again
(BNI-FEB.27) For the second time on four days, PA Chairman Yassir Arafat
traveled to Amman Jordan to meet with King Abdullah II. Several hours
earlier, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arrived to meet with Abdullah to
discuss the stalled Oslo process between Israel and the PA. Arafat is
scheduled to meet with Mubarak on Wednesday in Cairo.

                                ++++
10. Three arrested in Judaica theft ring
(BNI-FEB.27) Israel Police on Tuesday arrested three suspects allegedly
involved in a ring that stole Judaica artifacts from Europe valued at $2
million.

Jerusalem resident Aharon Stephanski, 37, Bnei Brak resident Yerachmiel
Hershler, 46, and Amnon Edri, 31, from Haifa are all in custody. Police
have indicated that additional arrests are expected as the investigation
continues into the international thefts.

In the raid on the Tel Aviv dwelling, police uncovered antique silver
Torah scroll ornaments, scrolls and other costly religious items.

                                ++++
11. Tribute to Menachem Begin
(BNI-FEB.27) On the ninth anniversary of his death, family members and
close friends on Tuesday visited the Mount of Olives gravesite of late
Prime Minister Menachem Begin. A small private ceremony was held.

                                ++++
12. Heavy fighting near Netzarim in Gaza
(BNI-FEB.27) Heavy fighting is being reported at this time between IDF
forces and PA terrorist forces near the community of Netzarim in Gaza.
There are no immediate reports of IDF casualties.

                                ++++

13. Car thief shot and seriously wounded by PD
(BNI-FEB.27) The occupants of a stolen vehicle failed to comply with
police orders to halt for an inspection at the entrance to the capital.
Police chased after the fleeing vehicle, firing warning shots in the air
and then at the tires of the car. As a result, the thieves lost control,
striking another car.

One thief was hit in his abdomen by PD gunfire. The second suspect
escaped
and a manhunt is underway.

According to Yael Bosem-Levy, the spokesperson for Jerusalem=92s Hadassah
Hospital in Ein Kerem, an EMS ambulance brought in an Arab male in his
forties. He sustained gunshot wounds to his abdomen and chest, was listed
in serious condition and was taken into emergency surgery.

                                ++++
14. Arab informant shot to death in PA jail
(BNI-FEB.27) A 37-year-old Arab man suspected of providing intelligence
information to Israeli security agents was shot to death in a PA jail in
the city of Nablus.

The victim was arrested by PA security officials who charged him with
corroborating with Israeli authorities. He was shot while in jail and died
in a Nablus hospital.

From: "Patt A."

Here is another Space.com entry. I thought it was of interest since we

Re:16:20: And every island fled away, and the mountains were not

Britain Says It Is Taking Asteroid Impact Threat Seriously

It sounds like the stuff of science fiction -- an asteroid

Chinese are pouring into Iraq to develop military

                         Weekend News Today
                         Lead: Kelly
                         Source: Middle East Newsline

Tue Feb 27,2001 -- The Bush administration faces an expanded Chinese
effort to upgrade Iraq's military capability amid U.S. plans to ease sancti=
ons
on Baghdad. China has been pouring technicians from military and state-
owned enterprises into Baghdad to upgrade Iraqi communications and radar
systems, U.S. officials said. They said the Chinese have completed major
improvements to the Iraqi systems, including installing a fiber-optic netwo=
rk
to link anti-aircraft batteries to command and control centers.

The officials said this has significantly improved the Iraqi threat to U.S.=
 and
British warplanes that enforce the no-fly zones in southern and northern Ir=
aq.
The Chinese are being paid in Iraqi oil. U.S. officials said the issue has =
been
raised several times with Beijing but was kept under wraps to avoid a
Chinese backlash. They said the U.S. strike on Iraqi anti-aircraft batterie=
s
around Baghdad on Feb. 16 was meant to send a message to China to stop
helping Iraq's military. Officials, however, expressed skepticism that the=

message would change Beijing's policy.

Economic cooperation between Egypt, Iraq

                         Weekend News Today
                         Lead: Kelly
                         Source: Arabic News

Tue Feb 27,2001 -- Iraq's minister of agriculture Abdul Illah Hamid has
stressed Iraq's care to strengthen economic relations with Egypt in all fie=
lds
in the framework of the free trade agreement between the two states. During=

his meeting on Sunday in Baghdad with a delegation representing the
Egyptian businessmen led by the chairman of the International group for
investment Muhammad Shetta, currently visiting Baghdad, the Iraqi minister=

explained that the agricultural cooperation and integration program which
was recently signed with Egypt has entered into actual implementation after=

a law was released into this effect during the two past days.

Mubarak, Jordan's Abdullah seek compromise on Iraq ahead of Arab summit =

                         Weekend News Today
                         Lead: Kelly
                         Source: AFP

Tue Feb 27,2001 -- Jordan and Egypt are seeking US support to ease 10-
year-old UN sanctions on Iraq to avoid serious divisions at an Arab summit =
to
be hosted in March by Amman, officials and diplomats told AFP. These
efforts coincide with a visit to Amman Tuesday by Egyptian President Hosni=

Mubarak for talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II, following a regional tour=
 by
US Secretary of State Colin Powell. "Means of easing the sanctions on Iraq=

and the need to establish a regular dialogue between Baghdad and the
United Nations will be at the center of talks between President Mubarak and=

King Abdullah," a Jordanian official said.

Powell's just-ended tour enabled the new US administration to understand
how much Arab countries oppose the sanctions slapped on Iraq after its
1990 invasion of Kuwait. "The United States' Arab allies are fed up with th=
e
sanctions targetting civilians, who are being cleverly manipulated by the I=
raqi
regime, which appears as the people's saviour while reinforcing its positio=
n"
one Western diplomat told AFP. A senior Jordanian official said the
sanctions "have created a precedent by allowing the regime to control the
calorie intake of each citizen.

Powell was to consult the French and British foreign ministers in Brussels.=

"France is proposing that sanctions be replaced by more vigilence and
international controls on illegal weapons" a western diplomat said. "If the=
 five
permanent members of the Security Council agree ... this will help the
success of the Arab summit," the Jordanian official said. "The most
important thing for moderate Arab countries is to avoid further US-British =
air
strikes on Iraq, which will toughen positions and trigger divisions at the =
Arab
summit," the official added. This would place Jordan and Egypt, which have=

peace treaties with Israel, in a vulnerable position at the Arab forum, a
diplomat added.

Italy suggests European border police

                         Weekend News Today

                         Source: AFP

Tue Feb 27,2001 -- Italy plans to do a feasibility study on whether to set =
up a
European border police modelled after a bilateral effort under way between=

Germany and Italy and Spain, Italian Interior Minister Enzo Bianco said
Tuesday. Bianco made the announcement at the closing news conference of
a one-day meeting of justice and interior ministers from the Group of Eight=

club of rich nations. He added that the new force -- if created -- should b=
e
made up of "police and civil servants". The minister considered that illega=
l
immigration represented "one of the big questions that the world is wrestli=
ng
with at the end of one millennium and the beginning of another."

London Mayor gives married gays =A3100,000 gift

                         Weekend News Today
                         Lead: Leo
                         Source: The Times

Tue Feb 27,2001 -- Lesbian and gay couples will be able to tie the knot by=

the end of the year after Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London, set aside
=A3100,000 of council taxpayers=92 money for a register to recognise their=

relationships formally.

One plan under consideration is to give away the first 100 =93gay marriage=
=94
licences free to publicise the scheme which brings London into line with Sa=
n
Francisco, Amsterdam and Paris. Mr Livingstone will perform some of the
ceremonies himself. He will overcome any Tory town hall resistance by
agreeing to let partners, including unmarried heterosexual couples, make
their vows at the London Assembly headquarters.

The move follows pressure from gay campaigners for equality with
heterosexuals to ensure that there are no longer disputes over inheritance,=

pension rights and tenancies of shared homes. The union will have no legal=

standing.

ACLU joins artist's fight to display Barbie doll in suggestive shots

                         Weekend News Today
                         Lead: Leo
                         Source: Sydney Morning Herald

Tue Feb 27,2001 -- Bodacious Barbie has become embroiled in an unseemly
sex scandal and it seems there is nothing even Courtroom Ken can do to
help. In what is shaping as an unlikely landmark case in American copyright=

law, the country's highest appeals court has rejected a move to prevent an=

artist from exhibiting "sexually suggestive" photographs of Barbie dolls. =

A Utah artist, Tom Forsythe, has been displaying the pictures for the past=

three years in an exhibition he says is a social comment against "mindless=

consumerism". One shot shows a naked Barbie lying, limbs akimbo, in a
tortilla and lathered in hot sauce. Others show smiling Barbie heads impale=
d
on fondue skewers, a naked Barbie being dismembered in a blender and a
strip-club Barbie bent over in the altogether and "mooning" her audience. =

Barbie's manufacturer, Mattel, claims the photographs tarnish the trademark=

of its golden girl by depicting her in such "an offensive and disparaging
manner". The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has stepped in to
represent Forsythe against what it claims is a corporate attack on his Firs=
t
Amendment right to free speech. "There are a few things money and power
can't buy in America," said Ms Annette Hurst, the ACLU's counsel in the
case. "And one of them is the silence of someone determined to express a
viewpoint."

Video stores' days are numbered

                         Weekend News Today
                         Lead: Leo
                         Source: Nando Times/AFP

Tue Feb 27,2001 -- Home entertainment still often looks like this: the film=

you've been dying to see is all checked out at your local video store and
when you finally do get it, the picture is a grainy fog with sound barely b=
etter
than that of a transistor radio.

But movie watching in the near future? Almost any film ever made, from a
new release to a classic or the latest independent feature, could be at you=
r
disposal in digital quality and available for download whenever you want to=

watch it at an affordable price. Movie-lovers are set to have more control =
than
ever over what they can watch, with the Internet paving the way to an
interactive screen in their homes. In many U.S. cities, Internet streaming,=
 or
digital video transmission, is already a reality via high-capacity, high-sp=
eed
broadband networks. But the images are often jumpy, the sound often
delivered in fits and starts.

The present feverish pace of construction of DSL (digital subscriber line)=

networks in cities around the world will allow a gradual transformation of =
the
entertainment industry, analysts say, with quality set to improve as lines =
are
upgraded. "The Internet marks the birth of an important new medium for our=

business," said Takashi Nishimura, director of New Cinema from Japan
which promotes Japanese films internationally. "It will offer viewers the a=
bility
to see whatever they want when they want it. That is the advantage -- this=

flexibility."

Subject: [bprlist] David's reply to Charlie re mind-boggling
From: "David
Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 20:13:42 -0800

Charlie, Thanks for your best wishes, and thank you for taking the time to respond. I figure the best way to work through this issue is to respond to each of your comments. Please respond as you see fit (and everybody else who would like to comment, this is an issue that goes extremely deep).

Charlie, you wrote:
In the opening paragraph of your email you say: "The body of Christ IS the Temple of God. It is the body of Christ, the Temple of God, that will suffer the abomination of desolation, the apostasy, the hatred of Satan."
I am sure the body WILL BE the body of Christ, David, but
not until after He gathers and joins all the parts of the body together, both those who are alive, at that time, and those who are in the grave. Until that happens the ‘body´ cannot be considered an entity, it is not a "Temple" that can ‘suffer the abomination of desolation´, so I am at a loss to know just what you mean by that and about the apostasy.

The following scripture indicates that believers make-up ‘God´s building´, a ‘spiritual house´, and that this building is alive and in existence when Paul writes:

1 Corinthians:
3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

Peter calls believers ‘lively stones´, that ‘are built up a spiritual house´ and a ‘holy priesthood´, giving ‘spiritual sacrifices´ acceptable to God by Jesus. A spiritual house that exists as Peter writes.

1 Peter:
2:4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Christians are, with Jesus Christ as the chief corner stone or foundation, lively stones that form God´s building, the spiritual house. Peter´s use of Temple terminology establishes the fact that ‘God´s building´ is God´s Temple. We call that temple the body of Christ, or the church.

The spiritual sacrifices Peter writes of are the bread and wine of the new covenant: Jesus´ sacrificed flesh and blood. Each of us is a member of ‘an holy priesthood´.

Peter, continuing to write of the church or body of Christ, or those who believe in the Gospel, says:

2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

The body of Christ, is this ‘spiritual house´, ‘God´s building´, and made of ‘lively stones´, that carry out the role of the temple spiritually (as befits a ‘spiritual house´). It is a 'spiritual house', in which the very stones that are the building are a ‘holy priesthood´, or ‘royal priesthood´. This, the body of Christ, is ‘a chosen generation´, ‘a peculiar people´, and, perhaps most significantly ‘an holy nation´ in light of yours (and formerly mine) and others perspective on prophecy.

Paul also writes similarly of believers in the Gospel:

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jesus is the spiritual head of this spiritual house:

1 Peter:
2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Ephesians
22 And He has put all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church,
23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

The tabernacle of Moses and the Law, were shadows of Jesus Christ:

Hebrews
8:4 For if he [Jesus Christ] were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

and

10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

and

Colossians
2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

It might also be that the Jews, the original chosen race, with their division on beliefs typical of this church age (i.e. some believe, some don´t) are a shadow of the Gentile and Jew who believe the Gospel (or don´t) and worship the real temple and who enter that real temple, and who are that real temple.

The temple of God was Jesus both before and after his resurrection:

John writes:
2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

Matthew writes:
4:7 'Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?'(Also Mark 12:10, Luke 20:17)

21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. (Also Luke 20:18)

In Romans Paul writes:
9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

By Jesus referring to himself as a temple (this temple) before his death and resurrection, he is telling us that he has always been a temple. Always.

When Jesus Christ's work was completed, the need for the natural type of temple was demonstrably shown to be ended:

Matthew 27:50 'And crying again with a loud voice, Jesus released His spirit. 51 And, behold! The veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.'

The tearing of that veil says, effectively, it is finished. That is the end of the need for ever of a shadow temple with its shadow Holy of Holies that could only visited annually by a Priest specially prepared and from which women and the imperfect are excluded. Jesus Christ is now available for those who believe, including women and the imperfect. He is the temple, the Holy of Holies, made manifest on earth, sitting at the right hand of God.

The natural Israel was told in no uncertain terms that they've done their lot:

Matthew: 21:43:
Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

That 'nation' is defined by Peter as 'an holy nation' and refers to those who believe the Gospel.

Matthew
23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate:
39 and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Note the word 'desolate' in reference to their 'house'. The house is of course, the Judaic Temple representing the Mosaic Jew.

It is desolate because God has, to paraphrase a quote about Elvis, 'left the building'. To continue to worship in a building vacated by God, is to worship nothing, and as such this worship is an abomination to God.

Therefore, if you follow me, you might be able to see how there does not have to be a natural building in which Satan can establish his throne. Satan wants to unseat Jesus Christ. He can't do this by killing Christians, they just go to Christ anyway. He can only do this by limiting the number who are saved and he can only do this by providing a believable, spiritual, delusion.

There is only one way for the non-believing Jew to return to God and for God to come to the Jew, as it is with all non-believers:

Acts
2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.
2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Before I move onto your next paragraph in reply, I just want to fix a deception you have about the first resurrection and at the same time solve your problem about the 'roman legions'. I think that this will fill you with wonder and delight:

Matthew 27:
50 And crying again with a loud voice, Jesus released His spirit.
51 And, behold! The veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And the earth quaked, and the rocks were sheared,
52 and the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep arose,
53 and coming out of the tomb after His resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
54 But the centurion and those guarding Jesus, seeing the earthquake, and the things that took place, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this One was Son of God.

Match Matthew 27 with Revelation 20:
1 And I saw an angel come down from Heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.
3 And he cast him into the abyss and shut him up and set a seal on him, that he should deceive the nations no more until the thousand years should be fulfilled. And after that he must be loosed a little time.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the witness of Jesus and for the Word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast nor his image, nor had received his mark on their foreheads, nor in their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. The second death has no authority over these, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be loosed out of his prison.

Matthew 27 describes the resurrection of OT saints. It can be expected to have included many great and Godly people. David, Joshua, Ruth, and so on. With Jesus work, as described in Rev. 20:1-3, wherein he binds Satan (now we know who it is that restrains him) death was defeated for a time. I can't say defeated for good yet because Satan will be unrestrained again prior to the judgement of the world and those who have rejected Christ and the Gospel, will go into the Lake of Fire, for the finale of death

In Revelation 20 we are told that deceased witnesses of Jesus are present with Jesus. Therefore Matthew shows the OT saints and Revelation shows the NT saints. The thing is, this means that those who die in Christ do not sleep, but are changed in the twinkling of an eye. They are resurrected and live and reign with Jesus Christ in heaven NOW!

If you can't see this then you are being hounded by the word thousand. Thousand is 10 x 10 x 10 or 10^3. 3 is God and 10 is perfection. Therefore thousand means God Perfect and in the context in which it is used in Revelation 20 means God's perfect years or when God is good and ready.

Because Matthew 27 describes a resurrection, it has to be the FIRST resurrection, and as it is the FIRST resurrection, Rev. 20 obviously has nothing whatsoever to do with a 'millenial reign' of Christ on earth. It is the chruch age and it does not end until Jesus returns to trounce Satan and to judge the world, in the Valley of Jehosophat, Armageddon. (see Joel, 12 Let the nations be awakened and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat; for there I will sit to judge all the nations all around.
13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, come down; for the press is full; the vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision; for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision!
15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall gather in their light.)

The body of Christ is alive on earth and fairly flying along in heaven. Your loved ones who were Christians are active right now. Saved and loving it.

Charlie, you write:
God, I think, will give Israel, pseudo-Christians and ‘who-so-ever will´ a second chance during the 7 years and, at the end of the 7 years, I think He will give every nation of the world a final chance before the vials are poured out. Praise the Lord!

________________________________

This is a fair enough hope. Paul writes that God will remove the vail from the Mosaic Jews, eventually. We all know people who don't believe but who are caring and therefore, to our natural minds, worthy of joining the party.

Charlie you write:
The second last sentence in your email reads: "The interpretation that leads to your mind being boggled is based on a popular and I think erroneous interpretation of Daniel's seven weeks."
You are referring, I assume, to Daniel 9:25. It appears obvious this was the first seven weeks of the seventy weeks of 9:24 and it has been concluded they are, now, ancient history.
If you think that is erroneous, David, what is your interpretation of them?
Your closing statement is: "Jesus was the person who ceased the need to sacrifice (as you say, he was the ULTIMATE sacrifice, the final one) and his people, future Christians, destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple for their abominations (sins)." Jesus was, indeed, the ultimate sacrifice but ‘his people, future Christians,´ did not destroy Jerusalem, as I think you know. History proves Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman Legions.
Please give Diedre our love, with a hug and a kiss for the little ones.
God bless you.
Charlie Baker.

_________________________
I have given my interpretation for Daniel in the above quote, although I haven't structured my reply very clearly. I'll repeat it here:

25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

[Note that Daniel denotes the Messiah as 'the Prince'. This obviously means the time from the rebuilding of Solomon's temple to the time when Jesus is to come. It is 69 weeks.]

26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:

[Obviously in reference to Jesus sacrificial death for us. The failure to refer to the seven weeks might merely mean that after seven weeks the commandment to restore and build happened and then 62 weeks after that Jesus was born.]

and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;

[The prince has already been defined in verse 25, it is the Messiah. The people of the prince are those who would be known as Christians. The centurion who stood alongside Jesus, became a Christian after witnessing all of the things that happened with his death. Romans are recorded as not rejecting the Gospel throughout the letters in the NT. Rome itself was a major, if not 'the major', focal point for the spreading of the Gospel into the Western world.
By the time the Roman's destroyed Jerusalem, a large number of them would have been Christians and a large number of them would have been very angry about Jesus' crucifixion, not yet understanding that it had to happen so that they could be saved by God.]

and the end thereof shall be with a flood,

[The destruction of Jerusalem does not make for bed-time reading. Rivers of blood flowed in the city streets.]

and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

[In terms of complete fulfillment, these two phrases probably refer to the war that goes on until Satan is permanently trashed (halleluah)! It has an immediate relevance to Israel in that when the Roman's had finished, Jerusalem, and even most of Israel, were made desolate.]

27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

[There is no reason to believe that this verse is not a recap of what has already been described by Daniel. What is written here is that God is behind all that has been described.]

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week
[Jesus made his covenant to be with everyone, jew and gentile, so long as they believed]

and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease
[Jesus sacrificial death caused the sacrifice and oblation to cease. Even if it was continued it no longer, and never will have, any relevance to God; it would be an abomination to him.]

and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate
[Jerusalem and Israel was indeed made desolate]

even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
[The consummation refers to the end and can also have a sexual connotation, it might therefore be referring more succinctly to the coming of the Bride of Christ. The gist of this in total is that, until the end, Israel will remain desolate. Desolate of God.]

What do you think it does to the non-believing Jewish person to find support from Christians for his endeavours to reestablish the shadow of Jesus Christ, to enter into that shadow and worship in it, all the time denying the deity who casts that shadow?

Shouldn't christians instead be endeavouring to bring Jesus to their hearts, to cause them to cease their rejection?

There is a happy note for the Jew in all of this (found in 3:16 essentially, but the overall message is important and valuable to this email):

2Corinthians
3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
3:8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
3:9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
3:10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
3:11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
3:12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
3:13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD.

Well Charlie, There you have the reasons for my statement. I am pleased that Beverly benefited from it and I hope, I truly hope, that you will also.

I hope I've answered all that you have asked and that I have given you more than enough proof. There is no necessity for a Jewish temple, we are that temple prophesied by the OT prophets. That is the mystery that Paul writes of.

Cheers, God Bless and, enjoy your stone :)
