BioGen Weapons and Madmen

YOWUSA.COM, February 28, 2001
Steve Russell

Throughout human history, many of those in search of power and wealth
have demonstrated that they will do anything to achieve their goals. One of
the lowest and most inhumane methodologies available to these people, are
biological and genetically modified biological weapons.

While the same old threats still exist from terrorists and warring countries,
there are new threats rapidly emerging. These new threats come from large
competitive corporations and scientists attempting to play God in an arena
where the smallest mistake could wipe out all of Gods creations.

We are only three months into the 21st century and already our new
knowledge has created unprecedented genetically modified terror.

Subject: [bprlist] Indonesia Police Start Shooting Borneo Rioters

Indonesia Police Start Shooting Borneo Rioters

By Darren Whiteside

PALANGKARAYA, Indonesia (Reuters) - Indonesian police have begun
shooting rioters in Borneo to halt a wave of ethnic violence that has killed
hundreds and stoked international concern about the country's fragility.

Police spokesman Inspector-General Didi Widayadi said five rioters were
shot on Tuesday in the Central Kalimantan town of Sampit and the provincial
capital Palangkaraya. One was killed.

Widayadi threatened to prosecute any personnel who failed to take tough
action to stem more than a week of savagery, mainly carried out by
indigenous Dayaks against Madurese immigrants.

``Police shot five people who were involved in disorder yesterday. Three in
Sampit and two in Palangkaraya. One of them died,'' Widayadi told Reuters
in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He did not say if those shot were Dayaks, descendants of feared
headhunters, who have been killing Madurese immigrants and burning their
homes at will, often beheading the victims and ripping out their hearts.

Criticism of President Abdurrahman Wahid also mounted on Wednesday,
with politicians and respected religious figures slamming the Muslim cleric
for refusing to cut short a two-week overseas trip to deal with the Borneo
bloodshed.

Widayadi added troops would be withdrawn from the river town of Sampit,
scene of most of the killings and where soldiers and police exchanged fire on
Tuesday.

He said this had nothing to do with the incident, adding it had been planned
because Sampit was no longer as volatile and that troops were needed
elsewhere in the province.

Madurese Reported Fleeing

Palangkaraya, 530 miles northeast of Jakarta, appeared relatively calm on
Wednesday morning as heavy rain fell. Officials in Sampit were not
immediately available to comment.

The Jakarta Post newspaper said seven police and four soldiers were
wounded in the shooting incident, apparently sparked by a dispute over the
number of refugees allowed on a naval vessel evacuating Madurese from
Sampit.

The Post said Madurese were now fleeing other parts of the vast province,
where they have lived for decades.

Officials have said thousands of Madurese remained trapped on Borneo in
camps with little or no food as they await evacuation.

The rampage has forced some 30,000 Madurese to leave their homes. Many
have fled to Java or their island homeland, Madura, just off East Java, where
they face a grim future.

Highlighting concern about volatility in the world's fourth most populous
nation which straddles vital sea lanes, the United States said it expected
turmoil to worsen before it gets better.

``We're concerned about the loss of life and the fact that the military and
security forces don't seem to be able to prevent it,'' one official of the new
Bush administration said, referring to recent communal bloodshed.

National police chief General Bimantoro, quoted by the official Antara news
agency, said latest reports put the Borneo death toll at 303. Other reports
have said up to 400 people had been killed.

Antara said 174 rioters had been arrested and hundreds of firearms seized
from a hotel in Palangkaraya. It was unclear if the arrests were in addition to
80 people detained last week.

Harsh Criticism For Wahid

The Jakarta Post said seven Madurese corpses were found in Palangkaraya
on Tuesday, the first reported killings there.

The carnage in Borneo has given Wahid's enemies fresh ammunition to
attack the president, who already faces possible impeachment after being
censured by parliament on February 1 over two financial scandals.

``I don't understand how the president could enjoy a cup of tea overseas
while his people in Central Kalimantan are killing one another,'' the Post
quoted Amien Rais, speaker of the top legislative assembly, as saying.

Rais was once a former Wahid ally but is now a vocal critic.

Among the violence, stories of horror continue to emerge.

Police on Tuesday confirmed Dayak gangs massacred 118 Madurese trying
to flee the bloodshed on the weekend, and that police sent to protect them
fled when the attack happened.

Special forces from the army's airborne unit are on their way to Borneo to
reinforce extra battalions of police and soldiers already sent in to try to
restore order.

Hundreds of thousands of Madurese have settled in Borneo over the last few
decades as part of an official government plan to ease crowding on heavily
populated Java and Madura islands.

But the influx of outsiders with different culture and religion and a loss of land
and jobs has stirred Dayak resentment, frequently boiling over into
bloodshed.

Ha'aretz: Palestinian Authority anarchy now includes racketeering-
Christian graves vandalized by Moslems

By Gideon Alon Ha'aretz Knesset Correspondent Ha'aretz 28 February 2001

Armed Palestinian gangs threaten to fire on Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood if
they do not get "protection money" from the Palestinian Authority.

Major General Ya'akov Or, the coordinator of government activities in the
territories, told the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee
yesterday that "semi-anarchy, indicating a collapse of the PA's
institutional systems," reigns in the territories.

Because of the PA's inability to exercise control, such protection rackets
flourish throughout the PA. In one case, he said, members of the Tamra clan
blackmailed the secretary-general of Fatah in Bethlehem by threatening to
open fire on Gilo if he did not give them money. "Anyone bearing weapons is
the master in the territories today," he said.

The PA's economy is collapsing, along with health, education and justice
systems, Or said. Few PA ministries are functioning, neither are municipal
services. The collapse of civil institutions has left Tanzim militias as the
dominant force.

Tensions between PA Muslims and Christians are also on the rise, Or said.
This can be seen in vandalism of Christian graves. Some 50 Christian
families from Beit Sahour alone tried to emigrate in the last month.

Since the Al-Aqsa Intifada broke out in late September, the PA's loss of
income has risen to NIS 3.4 billion, Or said. The biggest part of this loss
comes from the ban on Palestinian workers entering Israel.

The casino in Jericho has lost NIS 247 million in potential income and the
loss of Israeli custom in towns along the Green Line - like Tul Karm and
Qalqilyah - has cost the PA another NIS 772 million. Finally, tax revenues
have declined by about NIS 200 million.

Or said unemployment is at an all-time high of 45 percent, up from 11
percent in September - almost every second Palestinian is now jobless. He
said the PA has been using the grim economic situation to promote the
struggle for a Palestinian state and to solicit funds from the international
community.

However, he said, it is using whatever funds it gets from other countries to
finance the PA's expenses and the Intifada, rather than in trying to
rehabilitate the crumbling economy.

Ha'aretz: Undermanned IDF considers settler patrols - "settlers have
demonstrated restraint"

By Amos Harel Ha'aretz Military Correspondent Ha'aretz 28 February 2001

The Israel Defense Forces is considering devising arrangements that would
give legal recognition to the security patrols settlers have recently been
conducting in the territories.

IDF sources explained to Ha'aretz that since the army has no practical means
of preventing such patrols, it would be preferable for them to be
coordinated with the IDF and under the IDF's control.

Many settlements have begun operating security patrols, manned by
volunteers, in recent months because of the sharp rise in shooting attacks
on the roads. Some of these patrols escort drivers only from the settlement
to the main road; others will accompany the driver as far as the army
roadblocks along the Green Line. Some of the groups are fairly
well-organized, providing the volunteers with helmets, flak jackets, weapons
and two-way radios; others are spontaneous initiatives by individual
settlers.

When the Al Aqsa Intifada first erupted, the army was opposed to settler
patrols. Officers feared that the settlers would shoot at Palestinians
without provocation or overreact to shooting directed at them. Though it
never tried to stop the patrols, the army did forbid settlement security
officers - who receive a salary and equipment from the IDF - to either
participate themselves or allow their vehicles to be used. Now, however, the
army has become resigned to such proposals.

"Even if we try to oppose this phenomenon, it will continue," explained a
senior officer. "If someone needs to travel the roads, his friends or family
will escort him, because they fear for his life. I can't tell a resident:
'Don't accompany your wife or neighbor to the roadblock.' The IDF has to
accept this phenomenon and try to regulate it: subordinate them to the
regional defense patrols, give them proper instruction, equipment,
insurance - and make the rules of behavior clear. That way, they will also
be aware of our forces active in the area and we will avoid [settler-army]
shooting incidents."

"There is no reason to fear that these patrols will turn into militias," the
officer continued. "These people are acting in self-defense. In any case,
they get weapons from the IDF and many of them do reserve duty in the
regional defense units. We can have such service recognized as reserve
duty."

Army sources stressed that the IDF doesn't have enough manpower to patrol
all the roads. They also noted that so far, the settlers have demonstrated
restraint.

Ha'aretz: Court assails Israeli police on policies against Jews on Temple
Mount

By Nadav Shragai Ha'aretz Correspondent Ha'aretz 28 February 2001

Jerusalem Magistrate Court Judge Shimon Feinberg yesterday acquitted three
members of the Temple Mount Movement for attempting to pray on the mount,
and issued a strong and unprecedented defense of their right to do so - even
if it meant arresting Muslim protesters.

"When police choose to use their authority to evict a group of Jews who
entered the Temple Mount legally to exercise their right to pray, they must
also consider ... before demanding that the worshipers disperse, whether
there is no possibility of preventing a disturbance of the peace by Muslims
who are on the Temple Mount at that time, without demanding that the Jewish
worshipers disperse," wrote Feinberg.

"In this case, not only was another method of preventing disturbances of the
peace by Muslims not considered, because of the existence of a sweeping and
mistaken police order forbidding Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount ... but
the circumstances indicate, at least to the level of a reasonable doubt,
that the police ... could have prevented the Muslims from disturbing the
peace without demanding that the Jewish worshipers disperse," the verdict
continued.

The three men - Yehuda Etzion, his son Ya'akov and Assaf Yafin - had planned
to recite a few pages from Psalms on the mount on Independence Day. The
entire event, said Feinberg, would not have lasted long, and the police, who
were present in force because of the holiday, could probably have prevented
"a few dozen Muslim youths" from attacking the worshipers for that length of
time - "even if this had necessitated arresting some of the aggressors or
inciters among the Muslims."

Feinberg said the police order forbidding all Jewish prayer on the Temple
Mount is rooted in neither law nor government decree. The right of Jews to
pray on the mount has never been disputed, he said, although how this right
is exercised in practice has been a serious issue.

Feinberg said police could have prevented the Jews from ascending the mount
to begin with. Having let them go up, however, the police were then obliged
to consider ways to enable their prayer before ordering them to leave.

Ha'aretz: Jerusalem Arabs armed for conflict

By Danny Rubinstein Ha'aretz 28 February 2001

A doctor from the Al Mukassed Hospital on the Mt. of Olives says there's a
lot of weapons in the hands of East Jerusalemites. He says pistols,
revolvers and submachine-guns can be bought, practically in the open market,
in Abu Dis. Many buy the guns to feel safer. But if the fire reaches East
Jerusalem, those weapons won't be there only for self-defense.

1. Labor to select eight ministers on Friday
(BNI-FEB.28) The Labor Party Central Committee will elect its eight
cabinet ministers on Friday. The party=92s legal committee on Tuesday night
gave its stamp of approval to the election process of the eight party
members that will serve in the new government as cabinet ministers.

In the first round of voting, the ministers of defense, foreign affairs
and agriculture will be selected. In the second round of voting, the
remaining five ministers will be chosen but their cabinet portfolios will
not be assigned. The person with the most votes will have first choice of
the remaining cabinet portfolios. The next two will chose between the
remaining cabinet portfolios while the last two will be ministers without
a portfolio. (The newly forming government will be so large; there are not
enough government ministries for all the cabinet members. This will create
a situation that some persons will be government ministers but will not
have a government ministry). The Central Committee will also elect the
party=92s two candidates for deputy ministerial posts.

All votes will be conducted as secret ballots. Candidates will be chosen
by their popularity among Central Committee members without regard to
their eligibility for a specific post.=20

NOTE: Any persons wishing to be a contender for ministerial of deputy
ministerial post must submit his/her name no later than Thursday
accompanied by the endorsement of at least fifty committee members.=20=20

                                ++++
2. Shas: We have secured interior ministry portfolio
(BNI-FEB.28) Shas Secretary Rabbi Pinchasi on Tuesday night told reporters
that his party has secured the powerful interior ministry post. Pinchasi
stated that the deal had been closed and there was no doubt that the
17-member strong ultra-Orthodox Party will once again control the ministry.

Likud officials issued statements that no party has secured any position
since Prime Minister-elect Ariel Sharon has yet to make any promises to
any of the potential coalition partners.

In a related matter, MK Natan Sharansky who heads the Yisrael B=92Aliyah
immigrant party, told reporters that his party would be in control of the
interior ministry and of that, there was no doubt.

                                ++++
3. Rumble strips installed near Netzarim
(BNI-FEB.28) Military officials explain the newly installed rumble
strips near the northern Gaza community of Netzarim are for the protection
of Arab motorists.

IDF officials explained that Arab motorists frequently place soldiers
protecting the area on =91alert=92 due to their failure to slow down while
driving in the area. In some cases, soldiers suspecting terrorist
activities were forced to open fire. The rumble strips are intended to
compel all motorists to drive slower, thereby lowering the level of
tension of soldiers that will not be able to identify motorist and their
activities in the area.

                                ++++
4. Gun battle at Neve Dekalim
(BNI-FEB.28) A heavy exchange of gunfire was reported in southern Gaza
by Neve Dekalim on Tuesday night. There were no casualties to IDF forces.

                                ++++
5. Ayosh Junction was the scene of heavy gunfire
(BNI-FEB.28) IDF forces at Ayosh Junction in Samaria on Tuesday night=20
came
under heavy PA gunfire. The gun battle continued to escalate until the
order was given to fire a single tank shell which struck a home killing a
55-year-old PA resident.

There were no casualties to IDF forces.

                        ++++
6. Court orders Tekoa resident to make compensatory payments
(BNI-FEB.28) The Jerusalem Magistrates Court on Tuesday ordered two
residents of the community of Tekoa, Miro Cohen and Shimon Ben-Asher to
make compensatory payment to an Arab man who they shot and injured.=20

The case is the result of a civil suit filed by a Beit Sachur resident
after the Jerusalem District Court found the two guilty of the shooting in
which the Beit Sachur resident was injured in his feet by gunfire but they
defendants won the appeal.

The court on Tuesday did not accept the claim that the gunfire was in
self-defense, ordering the compensatory payment. The amount to be paid is
to be determined at a later date.

                        ++++
7. MK Kara subject of sexual assault complaint
(BNI-FEB.28) Likud MK Ayoub Kara was the subject of a police complaint
filed by a Jerusalem woman who worked with the legislator. It is being
alleged that he sexually molested, raped and sodomized the woman. Police
are launching an investigation.

Kara denied the allegations being leveled against him insisting the
woman=92s actions were =93politically motivated=94. Kara also filed a count=
er
complaint against the woman who he insists was stalking him.

According to the woman, the attacks took place over an 18-month period but
she was afraid to come forward. She explained that once she became aware
that he would likely become a cabinet minister in the newly forming
government, she could no longer remain silent.

Kara has been serving as Prime Minister-elect Ariel Sharon=92s
representative to Israel=92s Arab community.

                                ++++

again, no injuries.

                                ++++
10. Military police apprehend terrorist in Hebron area
(BNI-FEB.28) IDF Military Police on Tuesday night apprehended a wanted
fugitive in a surprise inspection in Hebron. The person now in custody is
suspected of participating in terrorist activities and was sought by the
General Security Service (GSS/Shin Bet).
                                ++++
11. PA: El-Bireh resident shot to death by IDF Tank fire
(BNI-FEB.28) PA sources are reporting that a 55-year-old male was shot to
death by IDF tank fire on Tuesday night. The PA report stated the victim=92=
s
home was partially damaged by IDF retaliatory fire in response to shooting
attacks at IDF forces at Ayosh Junction earlier in the night.

PA sources are also reporting that an Arab teenager was wounded by IDF
fire at Karnei, in Gaza. Additional details are not available at the time
of this report.=20

                                ++++
12. Kfar Saba terror victim identified
(BNI-FEB.28) Police have released the identity of the murder victim whose
body was discovered in an orchard in Moshav Hagor on Monday. The dead=20
man
has been identified as Dr. Mordehai Shefer, of Kfar Saba.

As was reported earlier by BNI, Shefer left his home on Monday, heading
for his orchard on the moshav. When he failed to return home, his wife and
15-year-old son began searching for him, discovering his dead body in the

attack was not far from Kochav Yair, home to outgoing Prime
Minister/Defense Minister Ehud Barak and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Shaul
Mofaz. Kfar Saba is located several hundred meters to the south of the
attack location.=20

One of the paramedics that responded to the call, Ido Sukman, told Israel
Radio the victim was fully conscious upon his arrival at the hospital and
was injured by gunfire to his extremities.=20=20=20=20

NOTE: Qalkilya is considered to be among the =91quieter=92 PA autonomous=20

2. Police arrests suspects near Azoun, in Qalkilya area
(BNI-FEB.28) Four suspects were arrested by Israel Police on Wednesday
morning near the Arab village of Azoun, alleged to have taken part in
attacks against Israeli motorists. Earlier in the day, stone-throwing
attacks took place near Azoun, targeting security vehicles.

                                ++++
3. Heat wave upon us
(BNI-FEB.28) Although meteorologists insist winter is not behind us, the
coming days promise to be warmer than seasonal. On Tuesday, Israelis
experienced warmer than seasonable temperatures in all parts of the
country and Wednesday promises more of the same.

Temperatures in Tel Aviv are expected to reach 27C (80.5F) and 23C (73.3F)
in the capital.=20

On Thursday, the weatherman is calling for a =91Sharav=92 heat wave that wi=
ll
most likely break on Friday, bringing northern showers on Friday afternoon
or evening. On Saturday, temperatures are expected to return to normal for
this time of the year.

On a less sunny note, the recent rains have done little to replenish the
diminishing supply of water in the Kinneret, the nation=92s primary source
of potable water. To date, only about 100 million cubic meters of water
been added to the Kinneret, representing about fifty percent of rainfall
of an average winter.

Water experts predict a serious water shortage this summer if there is not
a change in the current situation and insist an additional water source
must be found or the chronic water shortage will become the number one
national priority. Water experts explain that even if the rainfall is
plentiful, the Kinneret is no longer able to meet the demands of the
growing population accompanied by water commitments as per peace=20
accords
to Jordan and the PA.

4. Home used by terrorist being demolished by IDF
(BNI-FEB.28) The home in the Arab village of Raafat, used to shelter
terrorists that perpetrated the Tuesday afternoon shooting attack near
Atarot, is being demolished by a military bulldozer on Wednesday morning.

Terrorists on Tuesday fired at a passenger van on Route 45, near the
Atarot industrial park in northern Jerusalem. As a result, a woman
sustained serious injuries and two others were lightly injured.

5. No injuries in Wednesday morning attack in southern Gaza
(BNI-FEB.28) Gunfire was directed at IDF forces operating in southern Gaza
on Wednesday morning in the area of the Kissufim Checkpoint. There were=20
no
injuries to IDF forces that returned fire.

6. Election Day & the disabled community
(BNI-FEB.28) On Election Day, there were 7,500 voting station nationwide
with about 300 designed to cater to the particular needs of physically
disabled eligible voters. Unfortunately, this was not the case despite the
law clearly stating that provisions must be made for disabled voters in
order to permit them access to voting stations.

An inspection of voting stations on Election Day conducted by the
Committee for Equal Right for the Disabled revealed that only thirteen
percent of the special voting stations were compliant with the needs of
the disabled.=20

Officials explained that many so-called accessible voting stations
required one negotiating staircases or in some cases, the ramps available
were too narrow to accommodate a standard wheelchair.

Officials responsible for meeting the needs of the disabled community were
quick to defend themselves, adding they are responsible for establishing
voting stations that meet the special needs, but are not required to
provide parking in the area nor are they responsible for the height of
sidewalks in the area of polling stations. Election officials added they
did their best to provide what they believe were stations that catered to
the special needs of the physically impaired.=20=20

7. Two injured in early morning blaze in Holon
(BNI-FEB.28) A woman in her fifties and a man were injured in an early
morning blaze in a dwelling on Sanhedria Street in Holon on Wednesday. The
woman was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation. The male, who
sustained injuries to his legs, was transported to a local hospital.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.=20=20

(BNI-FEB.28) Electricity to southern Gaza communities was interrupted late
Tuesday night when a military illumination flare accidentally struck a

1. IDF implements closure on Qalkilya
(BNI-FEB.28) Following a shooting attack on Wednesday morning directed at
road workers of the Trans-Israel Highway, the IDF has imposed a closure on
the PA autonomous city of Qalkilya.

A 25-year-old male employed as a security guard for road workers who are
constructing the new highway was moderately injured by gunfire and
transported to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba.

According to the IDF battalion commander, Colonel Eitan Ephraim, the
attack was most likely perpetrated by two terrorists and there is no doubt
that two weapons were fired. He added the shooting was not from within
Qalkilya which is under total PA control, but from virtually point-blank
range from the intended targets within =93Israel proper.=94=20=20

The senior military officer explained the terrorists undoubtedly fled to
Qalkilya but they crossed the area security road and fired from within the
=93Green Line=94.

NOTE: The location of Qalkilya and the attack are only several hundred
meters north of Kfar Saba and in proximity of Kochav Yair, two major
Israeli municipalities.=20

Feinberg's judgment on Tuesday in the matter of the Chai Vekaiyam
activists.

"In contradiction to that written in the police guidelines, the right of a
Jew to pray on the Temple Mount is not a matter of argument. There is no
prohibition to pray. The argument concerns the fulfilling this right in
practice...it is not impossible that the police could have activated such
units that would have enabled the Jews to finish their prayers while
maintaining public order even if this would have entailed the arrests of
the attackers or inciters on the Moslem side".=20=20=20=20

Death Toll from Undiagnosed Fever Reaches 36
--------------------------------------------
SILIGURI: With the death of one more person, the toll in the
undiagnosed fever [outbreak in] this commercial town rose to 36. The
Deputy Chief Medical Officer (Health)-II, Dr. Saibal Banerjee, said on
Monday that a 70-year old resident of Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri died at
the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) on Sunday night.
Monday 2 more patients from the Jalpaiguri and Kharibari areas were
admitted to the NBMCH, bringing the total number of patients being
treated there to 19. Of the 19, a total of 9 with acute symptoms of
the unknown fever have been placed in isolation, while the remainder
were treated in a separate ward. Meanwhile, the Union Health Minister,
C P Thakur, said in Delhi that the Centre was planning to seek the
help of the United States in identifying the fever.

He did not rule out the [possibility] of the disease originating from
biological warfare. Thakur said that: "Even after 3 weeks, experts so
far are not sure on what kind of a fever it is and what has caused it.
If a diagnosis is not made [soon], the government would send samples
of the cerebrospinal fluid of the patients to the Centers for Disease
Control [and Prevention] in Atlanta, [GA,] USA."

Experts from the National Institute of Virology in Pune, National
Institute of Communicable Disease and AIIMS in Delhi and the World
Health Organisation (WHO) left the town on Monday after collecting
samples. Sinha said 2 experts, including one from WHO, stayed back for
further observation.

Mystery Fever: Japanese Encephalitis Suspected
----------------------------------------------
The outbreak of a mysterious brain disease in north-east India has
killed at least 30 people and created panic among local residents.
Officials in Siliguri, the second largest city in West Bengal, say
more than 400 people have been admitted to hospital.

Although doctors have been unable to identify the mosquito-borne
disease, the symptoms -- high fever, headache and nausea -- resemble
those of Japanese encephalitis. Doctors and nurses have joined those
fleeing the city after some medical personnel died treating patients.

Specialists from India's leading institutes have been flown to
Siliguri. Blood samples have also been sent to laboratories in the
United States. Experts say Siliguri would be prone to an outbreak of
Japanese encephalitis, given the many rice paddies in the area which
would allow mosquitoes to hatch freely. There are also large pig farms
close to residential areas, which would aid the spread of the virus.
Many of the victims have been children, another common hallmark of the
disease.

Japanese encephalitis causes severe [encephalitis] and is passed from
animals to humans by mosquito bites. It is prevalent in agricultural
areas throughout south and east Asia, killing about 10 000 people each
year. But doctors in Siliguri say they still cannot be certain about
the identity of the latest outbreak.

Over 300 sheep and goats have died in mysterious circumstances at farms in
the Sakumkum area in Fujairah.

Although no cause has been discovered for the deaths, an official of the
Eastern Agricultural Zone said yesterday there was no evidence the animals
had died as the result of disease.

The owners of more than 10 sheep farms in the area have lost one third of their
stock of sheep and goats, although the animals had been vaccinated and
given medicine prescribed by local veterinarians.

Mohammed Obaid Ali, one of the affected farmers, said he had lost over 55
sheep and goats last week. He said he had no idea why they had died. He said
despite being given medicine, the animals became weak and suffered from
diarrhea and blisters which appeared on different parts of their bodies.

Rashid Mohammed Al Hafeeti, a 50-year-old farmer who lost around 45 sheep,
said: "Last week I noticed the sheep seemed to be sick. We asked a vet to
check our animals, but when he came he just looked at them and prescribed
medicine. He did not even give us an explanation of the sheep's disease."

Asked about the death of the sheep, Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, Director of the
Eastern Agricultural Zone in Fujairah, said: "We have been told of 340 cases
of sheep infected with diseases in the Sakumkum area during January, and a
total of 7530 cases from other parts of Fujairah emirate. All cases have been
treated and the infected sheep were given vaccines and medicine." He said
the zone's 7 vets and 14 veterinary assistants pay regular visits to all the farms
in the region.

Abdul Rahman said fears of an outbreak of disease, such as foot and mouth
disease (FMD), were unfounded.

Instead, he blamed the farmers for the death of their animals, claiming they do
not follow the vets' instructions, do not give medicine in time, do not get rid of
the dirt and waste from inside their barns, and do not give proper fodder to the
animals.

Chief of Staff: PA is becoming a terrorist entity

Reuters 28 February 2001

Chief of Staff Shaul Mofaz accused the Palestinian Authority on Wednesday of
stockpiling weapons smuggled by sea and underground tunnels to use in a
Palestinian revolt that has been raging for almost six months.

Mofaz said Chairman Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority has been amassing
small arms, anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles and mortar shells. He said
some of the arms, especially mortar shells, had been used in recent attacks
against Jewish settlements in the occupied Gaza Strip. A senior aide to
Arafat called Mofaz's allegations baseless. "He wants to use these
accusations to cover his crime and aggressions and his future plans against
the Palestinian people," the aide, Ahmed Abdel-Rahman, said.

Speaking in English to Jewish activists from abroad, Mofaz said, "Lately we
have been forced to deal with significant maritime transfer of weapons into
the Gaza Strip. The Palestinians are making a very big effort to smuggle
[ammunition and arms] into the territories, especially into the Gaza Strip
by sea and by tunnels from Egypt to Rafah," he said.

Palestinian security sources have denied that they have mortar shells or
heavy weapons. Israeli television stations have broadcast footage of mortar
attacks on at least two Jewish settlements in Gaza.

Mofaz said there had been an escalation in fighting in the past few weeks
and that this had partly been spurred by the involvement of Palestinian
Authority officials in the violence. "This escalation is due to the fact
that more and more Palestinian policemen and more and more people from the
security agencies from the Palestinian side are taking part in the terror
activity and in the circle of violence," he said.

Mofaz said there were more than 3,600 incidents of Israeli soldiers being
shot at or attacked with hand grenades or bombs since a Palestinian uprising
against Israeli occupation erupted in late September after peace talks
became deadlocked. He accused the Palestinian Authority of using Arafat's
Fatah faction as its "operational arm." "The implication is that the
Authority is being converted into a terrorist entity," he said.

Mofaz also threatened Israeli retaliation if Hezbollah guerrillas operating
out of southern Lebanon continue to attack Israeli forces on the border.
Hezbollah guerrillas killed an Israeli soldier patrolling the frontier
earlier this month and Israel responded by firing artillery shells against
Hezbollah positions.

Massachusetts Freemasons present CHIP Child Identification Program

Each year 1 Million children are reported missing in the United States alone.
While most children are eventually found, many are not.

http://www.mychip.org/index.html

-----------------------

CHIP stands for CHILD IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM

The Masonic CHIP Program is the most comprehensive service of its kind
anywhere. CHIP is provided free of charge to the public, with all of the
identifying items generated during the events given to the child's family.

The CHIP program includes the following:

VIDEOTAPE: A brief videotaped interview that can be quickly distributed to
the media in order to reach a huge audience.

FINGERPRINTING: Fingerprinting is a well-known means of identification.
Resourceful parents keep fingerprints available should the need arise.

TOOTHPRINTS: A toothprint bite impression is quick and easy. Teeth, like
fingerprints are unique. A dental imprint gives both accurate and important
information for identification purposes.

Subject: [bprlist] Buildings and Temples
From: Pam
Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2001 11:27:43 -0500

Dear David:

Thank you for your "RE: More Mind Boggling", of Feb.27. I have been
reviewing it but, if you don´t mind, instead of attempting to respond to
all the topics at one time, I will take them one at a time. By that
means I pray that, with the Lord´s help, I will be able to cover each of
them scripturally, logically and clearly. Praise the Lord!

TOPIC ONE, I think, is ‘Buildings and Temples´.

There is no doubt believers, as Paul, in I Cor. 3:9; and Peter, in I
Peter 2:4-5, say, are indeed ‘God´s building´, ‘lively stones´, that, as
you say, ‘"are built up ‘a spiritual house´ and a ‘holy priesthood´,
giving ‘spiritual sacrifices´ acceptable to God by Jesus." Each
believer does offer up ‘spiritual sacrifices´ to God, in the name of
Jesus, and each believer is a part of the ‘spiritual house´ in heaven,
the house that, as you say: "..exists as Peter writes." But I think you
must admit this ‘spiritual house´ was in the building stage then, is
still in the building stage and will continue so until all pre-rapture
believers have become believers. As you know, thanks be to the Lord,
many present day unbelievers are becoming believers and that will
continue, I think, until those who are living at the time Christ comes
to earth, to claim both the dead and the living ‘lively stones´. He
will then make them a part of ‘God´s building´, ‘with the saints and the
household of God´. I think Ephesians 2:19-22 makes it clear the
building ‘groweth together unto a holy temple if the Lord´. It was
growing together when Paul wrote to the Ephesians and it is still
growing together with believers, as you say, being the ‘lively stones´
that are being used in the construction of it. Praise the Lord!

You state: "When Jesus Christ's work was completed, the need for the
natural type of temple was demonstrably shown to be ended:" You are
correct, I think, as far as believers are concerned, but I do not think
it was so for non-believing Jews. BPR regularly carries articles
expounding on the preparations that have been made for the rebuilding of
a temple, so daily sacrifices can again be offered, in Jerusalem, in
accordance with OT Law. We both know it is no longer required by God
but I do not think it is possible to convince an Israelite that it is
not and I am sure, when the opportunity presents itself, they will build
the temple and begin the daily sacrifice. This, I think, will be the
daily sacrifice referred to in Daniel 12:11. Jesus sacrifice made
further sacrifice unnecessary but His death and resurrection did not
stop the daily sacrifice.. I do not think it was stopped until the
Romans destroyed the temple in 70 AD, over 30 years after His
resurrection. Praise the Lord!

At this point, I think, a new topic is in order, 'Daniel´s 70 weeks of
years', so I will break off and, God willing, cover that in the next
episode, with the 1,000 years to follow. Praise the Lord.

 God Bless you. Charlie Baker.

Aliens blamed for making man disappear

http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_221393.html

The family of a Malaysian man who vanished into thin air fear aliens
abducted him.

Mainis Gintukod says her husband Yabi disappeared in front of her
last week.

Yabi's brother-in-law, Mahat Kulimpang, says Yabi told him of an
encounter with an alien with a square body.

"Yabi told me that the alien wanted him to go a strange place," Mahat
told The Star, Malaysia.

"The night before Yabi disappeared, he was wearing white and his feet
were not touching the ground.

"When I touched his shirt, it slowly turned black and he soon passed
out," claimed Mahat.

Yabi disappeared two days earlier and was found sitting in a bush in
a stupor. He was found to be in good health.

Deputy Supt Abdul Hadi Baharudin said a missing person report had
been lodged.

Culture Expert Says Family, Religious Norms Targeted by UN Agenda

By Fred Jackson
February 28, 2001

http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/2/282001c.asp

(AgapePress) - A United Nations policy expert says UN-sponsored
committees are pushing an agenda that counters traditional, moral,
and social norms regarding the family and religion.

Patrick Fagan is a Heritage Foundation expert on family and culture.
According to CNSNews, Fagan believes the international women's
movement is leading the charge against the traditional family and
religion, setting itself up "as the new universal moral arbiter of
all laws, of all religions, of all cultures, and of all nations." As
an example, Fagan says this feminist movement is behind the UN
campaign to rewrite school books promoting a new definition of gender
and to fight traditional sex roles.

He says in many cases, social policy experts on UN committees advise
nations to decrease the emphasis on marriage, parental authority, and
religious beliefs. Mothers are encouraged to enter the workforce,
children are told to take their parents to court, and legal
restraints on sexual activity among adolescents are targeted for
removal.

However, Fagan has a warning about making just the United Nations the
scapegoat for all these problems. He says in some cases, policies
being pushed at the UN are already law and are being "massively
funded" by the United States Congress.

Subject: [bprlist] Wonder and Delight
From: Pam
Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2001 13:52:08 -0500

Dear David:

You wrote: "I just want to fix a deception you have about the first
resurrection and at the same time solve your problem about the 'roman
legions'. I think that this will fill you with wonder and delight:"

Before telling you of my ‘wonder and delight´ I want thank you for
letting me know I am deceived about the first resurrection and have a
problem about the ‘roman legions´. I know, like many others, that I am
confused about the ‘first resurrection´ but I did not know I had been
deceived. The ascent of Enoch to heaven and the catching up of Elijah
in a whirlwind were a type of ‘rapture´ and the ‘first resurrection´
from the dead, appears to have been Lazarus, you contend it was the OT
saints of Matthew 27 and others contend it was Jesus. However, since I
don´t need to know I am quite happy to not know. The first resurrection
of Revelation 20, I think, refers to the first resurrection following
establishment of our Lord´s 1000 years reign on earth. If He does not
reign on earth during that time I wonder when you think He will do so?
There are scriptures that tell us He will reign, from Jerusalem, as King
over the Nation of Israel; that all nations will be required to come to
worship Him every year and, at the end of the 1,000 years, Satan will be
released, will attempt to defeat our Lord again, will again be defeated
and then cast into the lake of fire. Praise the Lord!

The ‘roman legions´? I will take that one up, David, in response to
your interpretation of Daniel´s 70 weeks of years and the events that
follow. There is no doubt many Romans became believers but there is no
record, biblically or otherwise of believers mounting a campaign against
Jerusalem, or anywhere else, during the first century. It was not until
some few centuries later that any destructive ‘campaigns´, of any kind,
were instituted under the guise of Christianity. Praise the Lord!

As to a ‘problem about the roman legions´, I do not know what to say. I
was not aware I had a problem with them. You then quote Matthew
27:50-54 and match it with Revelation 20:1-7. I must admit, that does
fill me with wonder, David. I wonder how I can possibly match the
appearance of the ‘many bodies of the saints´ to the binding of Satan
for 1,000 years. I wonder who Peter was referring to in I Peter 5:8, if
Satan has been bound since the time of our Lord´s death. I also wonder
why you find it necessary to reject the literal meaning of the 1,000
years of Revelation 20. Lastly, I wonder what those scriptures have to
do with the ‘roman legions´ - but more on that, later. Praise the Lord!

I will be delighted, by the way, to discuss these subjects with you,
further. Praise the Lord!

 God Bless you. Charlie Baker.

Subject: [bprlist] Temple Mount Destruction Intensifies
From: "research-bpr" <research-bpr@philologos.org>
Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2001 14:55:00 -0500

TEMPLE MOUNT DESTRUCTION INTENSIFIES

Intense Moslem Waqf desecration on the Temple Mount continues. Yisrael
Caspi, of the Committee to Prevent Temple Mount Desecration, told Arutz-7
today:
"Our aerial pictures of two days ago show severe damage to the eastern
wall of the great pit that was dug in Nov '99, a wall that was very
important to the Antiquities Authority in terms of dating many findings and
layers there... There has also been brutal damage by tractors to a
building that is over 1,300 years old. We have not seen such damage in
almost a year... What is happening is that the Waqf has been working
furiously over the past month, with the feeling that the government is
doing nothing to stop them and they can do what they want, at least until
the new government comes in. They bring in hundreds of Israeli-Arab
volunteers every Saturday, to tile more and more areas, and carry out other
work... We, including some of the top archaeologists in the country, have
written some ten letters over the past year to the Prime Minister and
Public Security Minister Ben-Ami, and we have not received any answer at
all... I told Ben-Ami that, as a professor of history, he will not be
forgiven by history for the damages that he is allowing on the Temple
Mount; he had no answer..."

Caspi continued,
"We demand that the new government take steps and prevent the
Moslems from
destroying Jewish artifacts there. This is absolutely not a political,
religious, or ideological matter; rather, any sane government must realize,
from a historic, scientific, archaeological, cultural standpoint, that it
must immediately stop the damage being done to the Jewish artifacts
there. There is no security justification whatsoever for the current
situation - all it takes is a decision and determination by the government
to carry it out."

Subject: [bprlist] Daniel's Seventy Weeks
From: Pam
Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2001 16:56:18 -0500

Dear David:

Back to the RE: More Mind Boggling, this time on the topic of Daniel´s
70 weeks.

With respect to Daniel 9:24-27, we agree, the 70 weeks were determined
on Daniel´s people, the Israelites, and ‘being cut off´ refers to the
crucifixion of our Lord, which occurred at the end of the 69 weeks. But
we do not agree, though, on the identity of ‘the prince that shall
come´. You think it is the Messiah but Our Lord did not come as a
conqueror, David, He came ‘meek and lowly, riding upon an ass´. Nor He
did not tell His disciples to take up arms, in fact, He told them the
opposite, they were to lay them down. The ‘prince that shall come´, I
think is a ‘prince´ that will come before the start of the 70th week and
will rule over a revived Roman Empire, during it. Praise the Lord!

We agree, with respect to this prince, "And he shall confirm the
covenant with many for one week" and I agree that, as you state: "Jesus
made his covenant to be with everyone, jew and gentile, so long as they
believed." But, with respect to "and in the midst of the week he shall
cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease" I do not agree that, as
you state: "Jesus sacrificial death caused the sacrifice and oblation to
cease." His sacrificial death made the OT sacrifice and oblation
obsolete but it did not stop the Jews from offering the daily
sacrifice. As you say, "Even if it was continued it no longer, and
never will have, any relevance to God", however I do not think it was
"an abomination to God." That, David, sounds a bit much.

In regard to Jesus ministry and the 7 years, you imply that Jesus 3 1/2
year ministry constituted the first half of the 7 years and His death,
causing the daily sacrifice to be taken away, marked the mid-point of
that 7 years but that doesn´t add up. Jesus death marks the end of the
69th week so the 70th week cannot start until after His death, not 3 1/2
years before it. Or am I missing something?

As to the scripture "for the overspreading of abominations he shall make
it desolate", there is no doubt that, in 70 AD, as you say: "Jerusalem
and Israel was made desolate", however, they are no longer ‘desolate´,
in fact, today, Jerusalem is a heavily populated city and is ‘a cup of
trembling´ to the world. Lastly, "even until the consummation, and that
determined shall be poured upon the desolate." I agree, my friend, this
refers of the end. I am not sure what you mean by the ‘consummation´
having a ‘sexual connotation´ but am sure it will be preceded by the
departure of the Bride from this vale of tears. She will put on a new
veil in Heaven. Praise the Lord!

 You then ask two questions:

"What do you think it does to the non-believing Jewish person to find
support from Christians for his endeavours to reestablish the shadow of
Jesus Christ, to enter into that shadow and worship in it, all the time
denying the deity who casts that shadow?"

"Shouldn't christians instead be endeavouring to bring Jesus to their
hearts, to cause them to cease their rejection?"

It is my humble opinion, David, that Christians should be alerting all
people, including the Jewish people, to the fact that the 70th week of
Daniel is still to come; that during that week, although the Jewish
people will re-establish the daily sacrifice, it will taken away at the
mid-point of the 70th week, and, when that happens, the false peace
they, and the world have accepted, will suddenly end. Christians should
be alerting them all to the fact that by refusing to accept Jesus Christ
as the Messiah they, and their loved ones, will be forced to face the
wrath of God which the OT prophets have told the Jewish people, time and
again, was going to come upon them and the world. Christians should be
loving them all so much that they are ready to be considered as ‘kooks´
for hammering the alarm bell - because Our Lord tells us we must love
our neighbors as ourselves. Praise the Lord!

Tomorrow, God willing, the 1,000 years. Praise the Lord1

 God Bless you. Charlie Baker.
