Hullo Michelle

There is a difference between being a Christian and a Jehovah Witness. Jehovah Witness' have been declared cultic. Their bible the New World Translation denies the deity of Christ, that is, that Christ is God manifest in the flesh. They do not believe that God is eternally existent in three Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

There are many other matters of doctrine they do not believe or follow also. I could present much more information but maybe time does not lend it unless you are wanting to know more about what they believe. A good book that will give you a concise and very accurate observation of this is "The Kingdom of the Cults" by the late Walter Martin. This book also gives information about other cultic movements besides what the Jehovah Witness believes and is a recommended reference book that every Christian should have. We should be well equipped to give a reasonable answer of our life as a Christian to anyone who should enquire.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (1 Pet 3:15)

How in scripture, scripture just calls us to be simply Christians, followers of jesus. Not lutherans, baptists, jehovah witness, etc or whatever denomination. Just to gather together simply and humbly and to study the word of God together. That whole page just said alot to me and I don't want to repeat because there is alot there to say.

The chapters are very short, so it won't take long to read. I found it to be a wonderful read. I love his simple approach to the truth. I thought the group might enjoy it, and I would like to hear any comments or thoughts anyone might have on the subject. Thanks.

Hi Neil,

I didn't make myself clear as what I meant to. I know what Jevohah Witnessess believe and I certainly didn't want to link my beliefs to them. They are a cult.

I just meant for instance in my area, there are lutherans, methodists, baptists, and etc. Those are denominations, not cult. So when I said I would not limit myself to a denomination, I meant that yes I go to a baptist church but I follow God and his word. I might find a Grace Brethern church I like and then would go there but does not mean I am now Grace Brethern. It just means that I found a bible believing, fundamentally sound doctrine church and I am going there for bible study and fellowship with believers.

I didn't mean to slip Jehovah witness in there, I must have had them in my head or reading something on them when I wrote my reply. But I certainly didn't mean to mix cults and denominations together. I hope I have made myself for clearer this time :)

God Bless you,

Michelle
