Shalom Dear Praying friends

On this day when we remember the giving of Torah let us remember that
G-d calls us to prayer. Do be encouraged, continue in prayer and see
what G-d will do in these days.

2 Chron 7:14 If My people who are called by My name will humble
themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal
their land NKJV

SHAVUOT

ANOTHER THOUGHT TO PONDER.

For those of us who are founded in the truth of Yeshua Hamashiah
(Jesus the Messiah) Shavuot has a deep and profound meaning. In fact,
it brings the truth of Jewish history alive in our belief system. It
brings to light the perfection of the Word of God. For it is necessary
for us to know that Yeshua completely fulfilled the Law of God, in
every aspect and in every concept. He not only walked this earth as a
sinless man, but He fulfilled even the Feast of the Tabernacle of the
Lord, which is God´s perfect calendar.

We hear Scholars and Theologians speak of the “first advent”, well it
is good to know just what that is. Because Yeshua fulfilled it
perfectly as well. He died on Passover, for He was and is the Passover
Lamb, for through Him we will not experience the sting of death but we
have eternal life in Him. He was buried on Unleavened Bread, Leaven in
the Word speaks of sin, and Yeshua had no sin, and therefore was
buried on the day of unleavened. He rose from the grave on the Feast
of First Fruits, for He is the first fruit of the Resurrection.

That brings us to Shavuot, the day the Barley Harvest ends and the
Harvest of the Wheat begin. It too is a first fruits celebration, and
it occurs 50 days from the day of the Resurrection. Yeshua promised to
send us the Comforter and in His perfection He did so on the day of
Shavuot, when the wheat would be harvested. We are often spoken of as
the Wheat, and that God would separate us from the shafts. It was on
this day in the Upper Room on Mount Zion that the Holy Spirit (Rauch
Ha Kodesh) was sent to us as our Comforter. This act of God fulfilled
the First advent. Leaving “Rosh Ha Shanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot”.
Known as the Second Advent, and Prophecy Teachers have been fighting
for 2000 years over their understanding of this Second Advent.

Shavuot, is also the celebration of the giving of the Torah, it is the
anniversary of the revelation at Sinai, the giving of the Torah to the
Jewish people. And the day Yeshua decided to give the One who would be
our interrupter of His Holy Word, and comfort us in His Knowledge.
“Glory to God, I had to stop for a minute and just shout”

Only those who understand the Jewishness of Yeshua, can truly
understand the beauty of God´s Word. To be a Believer and not
understand your Jewish roots is a great loss.

Happy Holiday, Shalom, jerry

Palestinians Seeking Jobs Abroad
Monday May 28, 2001 6:30 am - The Guardian (International)

BEIT JALLA, West Bank (AP) - First, Jihad Souy's tourist business
dried up because of Palestinian-Israeli violence. Then his house was
burned during a gunbattle. Now he's moving his family to Australia.

It's a scene being played out among Palestinians across the West Bank.
Their economy devastated by eight months of conflict with Israel, many
have given up and plan to move somewhere else to rebuild their lives.

Shortly after the fighting erupted Sept. 28, Israel clamped down on
the West Bank and Gaza Strip, banning Palestinians from entering
Israel as a security risk. That idled about 130,000 people with jobs
in Israel, drying up a crucial source of income for the Palestinian
autonomous zones.

Bethlehem, the West Bank city next to the village of Beit Jalla, has
been hit doubly hard. Bethlehem's economy depends on tourists visiting
the Church of the Nativity at the traditional birthplace of Jesus and
other Christian holy sites.

But the violence has frightened tourists away, and instead of a flood
of millennium-era pilgrims, there has been barely a trickle. Many
shops and small workshops like Souy's have shut their gates.

Souy, his wife and two small children are in a tougher situation than
most, having lost both his livelihood and their house. Until they
leave for Australia, they are living in his closed-down shop, among
the unsold tourist pictures with a Christian religious theme that he
made there.

``I sold most of the house furniture that survived the gunbattle to
feed my children,'' said Souy, 35, whose wife is expecting their third
child. ``I decided to emigrate because there is no end to our problems
with the Israelis.''

Many of the Palestinians planning to leave are Christians like Souy's
family. Palestinian experts say there has been a gradual outflow of
Christians from the Holy Land, with their numbers dropping by half
over the last century. Christians are now barely two percent of the
roughly 3 million Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza and East
Jerusalem.

There are no firm figures on the number of Palestinians who have left
or are planning to leave, but Palestinian officials acknowledge it is
a growing phenomenon, especially among Christians. Some of them are
people who had lived abroad and returned in the mid-1990s in
anticipation of peace.

Among the hardest hit areas is the vicinity of Bethlehem, a
traditionally Christian district. For several decades, however, the
town where Jesus was born has had a growing Muslim majority;
Christians now account for about a third of its 18,000 people,
according to Bethlehem University sociology professor Bernard Sabella.

At least 300 people have left the Bethlehem area in recent months,
said Bishop Munib Yunan, the head of the Anglican church in the Holy
Land. He said most headed for the United States and other countries in
the Americas.

Even the closing of a luxurious casino in the desert oasis of Jericho
because of the fighting affected Bethlehem. Owned by Palestinians and
foreign investors and frequented by Israeli gamblers, the casino
provided about 2,000 jobs, half of them filled by workers from the
Bethlehem area. Now they are unemployed.

The Palestinian Authority's tourism minister, Mitri Abu-Aiteh, blames
Israeli restrictions for the departure of some Palestinians.

``The Israelis are trying to push our people to emigrate,'' he said.
``They encourage Palestinians and investors to look for new
opportunities in other countries.''

Maj. Peter Lerner of the Israeli civilian administration in the West
Bank denied the allegation. ``Israel has no interest in encouraging
Christian Palestinian emigration,'' he said.

Intentional or not, the situation is untenable for newlyweds Jouad and
Nadia Misleh. Married four months ago, Nadia Misleh said they plan to
move to Miami.

``Not forever, but to guarantee the future of our family,'' she said.

Can Microsoft Survive An Electronic Pearl Harbor?

YOWUSA.COM, May 27, 2001
Marshall Masters

Richard Clarke, President Clinton's national coordinator for security,
infrastructure protection and counter-terrorism coined the term "electronic
Pearl Harbor," to describe a catastrophic surprise attack on America's
information systems. But it would only be the first strike, and on its
heels will come a deadly CyberWar that will cripple our economy and
paralyze our ability to function as a modern society. This is because the
spearhead of the first attack will be directed against America's soft
digital underbelly, the Windows operating system; a legacy-plagued modern
day electronic version of the Maginot Line.

Two Missionaries, a man and his wife, working with New Tribes Missions
in the Phillipines, have been kidnapped by Muslim terrorists and held
to ransom. Along with them is one other American and 17 Phillipinos.

Let's join in prayer for their protection and that G-d would open a

GOD´S JUDGMENT

As we celebrate Memorial Day, we are reminded that our nation, the
United States of America, has fought many wars and battles. Many of
us have lost loved ones in our nation's wars. Thanks be to the Lord
and to the dedication, courage, and loyalty of our military, our
nation has enjoyed and experienced many years of safety on our
shores.

However, the freedoms for which our men and women have fought have
too often been taken for granted by those who have stretched the
boundaries of decency.

There are many of us who remain appreciative of these freedoms:
especially our rights of free speech and the privilege of living in
a democracy, despite its shortcomings. Perhaps our most valuable
freedoms are the right to share our Christian faith with others and
the ability to the express our appreciation for our Christian
faith.

As we move into the days ahead, in these times which seem so
challenging, we watch closely, with a discerning eye and the
prophetic passages from our Holy Bible as a reference, as the world
news unravels.

There are those in our nation currently calling for a revival.
However, revival will not happen without repentance, which almost
always comes in response to judgment and tough times in our lives.
Only after repentance will revival come.

Judgment begins in the church (1 Peter 4:17), and the truth is that
the American church is in need of a good shaking. We now have a
church that appears more concerned about personal “boundary
expansion” than "death to self." We have lost the fear of the Lord.
We have lost touch with God´s sovereignty and with a Heavenly
Father who shares His glory with no one.

The storm clouds have been forming. We came so very close to
judgment in the period from 1997 to 1999, but the Lord in His mercy
restrained the hardships. But now, something seems different.
People—both believers in Christ and non-believers alike—can sense
that something is happening, but no one can quite put a handle or a
label on it.

I believe, in the next 75 days, we will have an indication of where
and how God´s judgment will manifest.

The Middle East crisis is getting worse daily, while the whole
world seems to be asking Israel to give up its land for “peace and
security.” June is “gay appreciation month,” while the last Sunday
of June is “gay appreciation day.” Power shortages are predicted
this summer in California and New York, and other possible places,
which could lead to further economic repercussions.

The calendar is quickly moving towards the 9th of Av (falling this
year on July 29), historically one of the most tragic days in
Israel´s history.

The 9th of Av text was from this web site:
http://www.jewfaq.org/holidayd.htm

Tisha B'Av, the Fast of the Ninth of Av, is a day of mourning to
commemorate the many tragedies that have befallen the Jewish
people, many of which coincidentally have occurred on the ninth of
the Hebrew month of Av. Tisha B'Av means "the ninth (day) of Av."

Tisha B'Av primarily commemorates the destruction of the first and
second Temples both of which were destroyed on the ninth of Av (the
first by the Babylonians in 586 B.C., the second by the Romans in
70 A.D.

Although this holiday is primarily meant to commemorate the
destruction of the Temples, it is appropriate to consider, on this
day, the many other tragedies of the Jewish people, many of which
occurred on this day, most notably the expulsion of the Jews from
Spain in 1492.)

World War I began on the 9th of Av, eventually leading to the
tragedies the Jews experienced in World War II.
As John McTernan has documented in his book, “God´s Final Warning
to America,” the Lord has responded directly to pro-abortion
legislation and events, to pro-homosexual legislation and events,
and whenever Israel is asked to give up its promised land.

With all of this under consideration, I would venture to say that
June and July will become very crucial months in the United States.

We know our Father is our strength and comforter; however, current
events make this an urgent time to share Jesus Christ with those in
our families, friends and at work who don't know Him. Time is
short!

• ISRAEL FIGHTS FOR HER EXISTENCE

Note from Bill: Israel is in a fight for her existence. The Arabs
surrounding her on three sides; the European Union has asked Israel
to give up her land; Russia has said the same; and the United
States has asked for the settlement construction to stop.

Pope John Paul II stated (in Damascus on May 5) that all Mid East
peace participants must abide by the U.N. Resolutions and the
Geneva Convention. In other words, he called for Israel to give up
the land which the Lord gave Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, in exchange
for peace, and then he called for “lasting peace.” Neither pleas
are scriptural.

As a reminder, Israel is God´s land, and He will respond with great
force against the enemies of the “Apple of His Eye” who try to take
the land from Israel.

The Bible clearly says God will destroy the Arab nations and others
who come against Israel (Isaiah 17 and 19; Ezekiel 38-39) and then
in the final battle, “The Battle of Armageddon,” the battle for
Jerusalem, he will destroy the armies of the world that come
against her (Zechariah 12-14, Revelation 16:16).

And then Christ will return in victory to the Mount of Olives in
Jerusalem to establish His Kingdom in the New Jerusalem.

• NEW U.S. AMBASSADOR TO ISRAEL

Note from Bill: Below is a White House Press Release announcing the
appointment of Daniel Kurtzer to be the U.S. Ambassador to Israel.
Also included after that are two letters from opposite sides of the
Daniel Kurtzer appointment. These letters will give the reader a
perspective of where the Jewish community stands on the Middle
East.

White House Press Secretary—May 25, 2001

The President intends to nominate Daniel Charles Kurtzer to be
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States
of America to the State of Israel. Ambassador Kurtzer is a career
Minister in the Senior Foreign Service and has served as Ambassador
to Egypt since 1997. He previously served in Washington, D.C., as
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of
Intelligence and Research from 1994 to 1997 and as Deputy Assistant
Secretary in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs from 1989 to 1994.
From 1987 to 1989, he was a Member of the Secretary of State's
Policy Planning Staff and has completed several other overseas
assignments. He is a graduate of Yeshiva University and received an
M.A., a Ph.M. and Ph.D. from Columbia University.

RE: Deny the confirmation of Daniel Kurtzer as U.S. Ambassador to
Israel

Dear Senators:

We ask that you deny confirmation of Daniel Kurtzer as U.S.
Ambassador to Israel, should President Bush submit his name to you
for confirmation.

Mr. Kurtzer was a key figure in formulating the U.S. decision to
recognize the PLO and Arafat as legitimate partners for "peace"
with Israel. In 1988, despite the intense terrorism unleashed
against Israel by the Arabs, it was Kurtzer who deceived the U.S.
into believing that the PLO was a "moderate" force. He
characterized PLO terrorists who massacred civilians as
"guerrillas."

It was Kurtzer who promoted the recent climate of "even-handedness"
that has so distorted the truth in Middle East affairs. And it was
Kurtzer who, as a speech writer for former Secretary of State James
Baker, coined the term "land for peace," which led to Israel giving
away its holy land for nothing but violence and lies.

For too long, Israel has suffered under the unwarranted pressure of
U.S. Ambassadors who have no understanding of the Biblical rights
of the Jewish people to the Jewish state of Israel. It is time for
that pattern to be broken. Please consider our objections in
evaluating Daniel Kurtzer's qualifications for the job.

We believe that, after an honest examination of his credentials,
you will agree with us that Daniel Kurtzer cannot serve as U.S.
Ambassador to Israel. Thank you.
Sincerely,

Herbert Zweibon, Chairman
Helen Freedman, Exec. Dir.

representing 200 Jewish and Christian organizations and 40 million
Americans, also opposes Kurtzer and are involved in a letter

A Joint Letter to President Bush Regarding Ambassador Kurtzer
Central Conference of American Rabbis Rabbinical Assembly; Union of
American Hebrew Congregations; United Synagogue of Conservative
Judaism

April 25, 2001

The President
The White House
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President:

As religious movements, we rarely support or oppose Presidential
appointments. Recently, however, attempts have been made by some in
our community to discredit Ambassador Daniel Kurtzer from
consideration as U.S. Ambassador to Israel by claiming that he
holds "anti-Israel views."

On behalf of the Reform and Conservative Movements, which together
comprise more than 85% of affiliated American Jews, we write to
indicate that such criticism is not shared by the mainstream Jewish
community. Although we would not formally support Ambassador
Kurtzer's appointment, we do not believe the claim that Daniel
Kurtzer is unfit to serve as Ambassador to Israel.

Our Movements have worked with Ambassador Daniel Kurtzer over the
years and greatly respect him. He has been a committed servant of
the U.S. government over the years and has been a great friend to
Israel. Ambassador Kurtzer has earned broad respect in the
diplomatic field among Arabs, Israelis. and American officials. We
would, of course, be pleased to discuss this with you or your staff
in any greater detail.

Sincerely,
Rabbi Paul J. Menitoff, Executive Vice-President, Central
Conference of American Rabbis
Rabbi Joel Meyers, Executive Vice-President, Rabbinical Assembly
Rabbi Eric. H. Yoffie, President, Union of American Hebrew
Congregations
Rabbi Jerome M. Epstein, Executive Vice-President, United Synagogue
of Conservative Judaism
Rabbi Charles A. Kroloff, President, Central Conference of American
Rabbis
Rabbi Vernon H. Kurtz, President, Rabbinical Assembly
Russell P. Silverman, Chair. Union of American Hebrew Congregations

Stephen S. Wolnek, President, United Synagogue of Conservative
Judaism

(Note from Bill: Unfortunately, the Reform and Conservative
Movements, which together comprise more than 85% of affiliated
American Jews, are in favor of Kurtzer. )

• UNITED STATES FAVORS END TO SETTLEMENT CONSTRUCTION

Note from Bill: The settlements have been the central target for
the Egyptian-Jordan Initiative and the Mitchell Commission Report.
Tuesday of this week, President George W. Bush and Secretary of
State Colin Powell came out in favor of the Mitchell Report,
calling for the end of construction in the settlements among other
things. The settlements are the place where many of the newcomers
move when coming to Israel. Do you think the Lord is happy about
his people being stopped from moving to the land? No!

Below is an excerpt from John McTernan´s book, “God´s Final Warning
to America” on what happened in the United States during October,
1999, when settlers were evicted from their land. This is a sign of
the Lord´s fury when his people are stopped.

“During the week of October 11, Jewish settlers on 15 West Bank
hilltops in Israel were evicted. The settlers resisted this
eviction and the confrontation was reported in the national media
during the week. Remember, President Clinton is the power behind
Israel giving land for peace. On October 16, the New York Times ran
a front-page article about this confrontation titled, “On the West
Bank, a Mellow View of Eviction.” What is amazing, also on the
front page was an article titled, “Big Sell-Off Caps Dow´s Worst
Week Since October ‘89.” During the week, the market lost 5.7
percent, and it was the worst week since October 1989.

"While Israel was forcing the settlers off the covenant land, the
stock market was melting down. On October 15, the market lost 266
points! Also on October 15, Hurricane Irene hit North Carolina.

"Then on October 16, the fifth most powerful earthquake to hit
America in the 20th Century struck California. The earthquake was
7.1 in magnitude and was located in the desert in a sparsely
populated area. The earthquake did little damage but shook three
states. The earthquake was so powerful that it tore a 25-mile gash
in the earth. Millions of people in California, Nevada and Arizona
felt the power of the quake. This quake triggered small quakes near
the San Andreas Fault, which was 120 miles away. Seismologists
referred to this as “nerve-rattling conversation” between the two
fault lines. Earthquakes as powerful as 4.0 occurred a few miles
from the San Andreas Fault.

"In a 12-hour span, the stock market closed down 266 points, a
hurricane hit the East coast, and a huge earthquake rocked the West
coast. This all occurred as Jewish settlers were being evicted from
the covenant land!"

• U.S. HOLDS BACK MONEY FOR ISRAEL´S MILITARY

Note from Bill: The United States is holding back $450 million from
Israel targeted for military purposes. This information was in a
Jerusalem Post article last week. I have not been able to retrieve
the article, but I wanted to point this out. If these funds are
being held for the purpose of forcing Israel to comply with a
stoppage of settlement construction, there will be repercussions
for the United States.

• PROFILE ON THE NEW MIDDLE EAST ENVOY

Note from Bill: I will continue to obtain more information on the
backgrounds of key people who will be representing the United
States in the Middle East talks. Former Secretary of State Jim
Baker was pro-Palestinian when he was with the former Bush
administration, and it appears some of the former members of George
Bush´s (the elder) Middle East team are becoming involved again.

White House Press Release: The President intends to nominate
William Burns to be Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East.
He is a career Foreign Service Officer who has held the post of
Ambassador to Jordan since 1998 and served as Special Assistant to
the President and Senior Director for the Near East and South Asian
Affairs from 1986 to 1989. He is the recipient of a number of State
Department awards including the Distinguished Honor Award and the
James Clement Dunn Award.

• ARAFAT´S BRASHNESS

Please click for article.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/middle_east/newsid_1348000/1348424.stm

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat has appealed to US President
George W. Bush to get personally involved in the Middle East peace
process.

The plea was made during a telephone conversation between the two
leaders in which Mr. Arafat called for a new summit to be convened
to discuss ways of implementing the Mitchell report on the
conflict, published earlier this week.

Mr. Arafat reminded Mr. Bush that his father, George Bush Senior,
had started the peace process in the region when he was the US
president. And he said it was up to his son to complete it.

Earlier, Mr. Bush had appealed directly to the Israeli and
Palestinian leaders to end violence, urging them to seize the
opportunity offered by former Senator George Mitchell's report on
restoring peace.

Both agreed with Mr. Bush's proposal to develop a framework for
implementing the report's recommendations, the White House said.

• POPE, CARDINALS PREVIEW POTENTIAL SUCCESSOR

Note from Bill: The health of Pope John Paul II continues to
deteriorate. This week´s event in Rome gave the Pope and the
Cardinals an opportunity to see and hear the potential successor to
the Papacy.

Please click here for the article:
http://www.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/meast/05/26/mideast/index.html

VATICAN CITY (AP) - In a mix of the ancient and the modern, like a
cell phone ringing during silent prayer, cardinals from around the
world gathered Monday to ponder the challenges facing the church
and who might lead it after Pope John Paul II.

The Vatican said 155 of the 183 cardinals attended the start of the
three-day meeting, making it the largest gathering of cardinals in
history.
